Australia\'s Metal Storm sees contract award by US Navy soon
SYDNEY (XFN-ASIA) - Metal Storm Ltd, (Nachrichten) which produces super-fast electronically-driven automatic weapons, said the US Navy has issued notice of a contract bid on the US Federal Business Opportunities website, indicating it intends to award a contract soon.

The defense technology company said US armed services are required to place such a notice when they intend to enter negotiations with a sole contractor.

The contract is for a the production of a 40 millimeter anti-personnel unattended weapons pod for the Marine Corps, a branch of the Navy, utilizing Metal Storm\'s patened electronic ballistic technology (EBT).

The amount of the proposed contract is currently subject to negotiation and the company is expected to be notified of the outcome by Dec 30.

Metal Storm is currently working with US and Australian government agencies and departments, as well as industry, to develop a variety of systems utilizing the Metal Storm non-mechanical, electronically fired stacked ammunition system.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego (SSC-SD) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Metal Storm Incorporated, 4350 Fairfax Drive, Suite 810, Arlington, VA 22203-1625 for the production of one (1) 40mm anti-personnel unattended weapons pod utilizing Electronic Ballistic Technology (EBT) and one (1) operator control unit. The utilization of EBT, for the weapons pod, is proprietary to Metal Storm Incorporated. The technology enables multiple projectiles to be stacked and fired from a single tube (barrel). These barrels can be grouped together in a range of sizes and calibers to form compact electronically operated weapons. The projectiles are stored and transported in, and eventually electronically fired from these multi-barreled tubes. Due to the fact that Metal Storm Incorporated does not share their proprietary weapons design information with any other business, they are the only available and qualified source to provide the required technology. The contract type will be a firm fixed-priced (FFP) for an eighteen (18) month period of performance. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes. Use of any other contractor would result in substantial duplication of costs and delays for the Government based on proprietary information controlled by Metal Storm Incorporated. Authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other suppliers or services will satisfy agency requirements. Mein kurzfristiges Ziel ist der Bereich 0,13 - 0,14 EUR. Mittelfrisig könnte es wieder aufs ATH zugehen, je nach Newsflow/Auftragslage.

Der Bereich 0,15 - 0,16 AUD gibt Sicherheit, charttechnisch könnte in den nächsten Tagen ein Ausbruch auf über 0,20 AUD folgen...

Trotzdem gibt ein Drittel aller Länder mehr Geld für Waffen und Rüstung aus als für das eigene Gesundheitssystem. Der Film „Lord of War“ mit Nicolas Cage beschreibt dieses Geschäft mit dem Tod auf sarkastische Weise.

Gatling – das erste erfolgreiche Maschinengewehr

Die bisher gewaltigste mechanische Waffe, die so genannte Gatling Maschinenkanone, wurde 1861 erfunden und ständig weiterentwickelt. Heute hat die Gatling eine theoretische Feuergeschwindigkeit von 4.000 bis 6.000 Schuss pro Minute. Wegen ihres hohen Gewichts wird sie häufig in Flugzeugen eingesetzt. Bei der Gatling rotieren mehrere geladene Läufe vor einem Schlagbolzen. So kann jeder Lauf nach Abfeuern eines Projektils lange genug auskühlen. Damit ist die Gatling in der Lage, fast ununterbrochen zu schießen.

Metal Storm setzt die Projektile gleich in den Lauf

Die Firma „Metal Storm“ aus Australien hat nun das System des multiplen Kugellaufs perfektioniert. Die Projektile werden aus mehreren Läufen abgefeuert. Statt wie bisher im Magazin befinden sie sich nun direkt im Lauf der Waffe. Welcher der Läufe abfeuert, kann individuell gesteuert werden. So sind verschiedenste Salvenmuster oder ein einziger Strahl an Geschossen möglich.

Die schnellste Waffe der Welt

Die Zündung der Kugeln erfolgt durch einen elektrischen Impuls. So können die Projektile rascher hintereinander abgeschossen werden als bei jeder bisherigen Waffe. Das Guinness-Buch der Rekorde hat die „Metal Storm“ offiziell als schnellste Waffe der Welt anerkannt. Die neue Technik gibt es in den verschiedensten Größen: vom kleinen Maschinengewehr bis hin zum Mörser. Derzeit entwickeln die Hersteller eine Metal Storm für die Westentasche. Sie soll aussehen wie ein normaler Revolver, aber über eine elektrische Zündung und vier Läufe verfügen. Metal Storm today announced the appointment of Dr Lee Finniear as CEO of the Company, effective from 19 February 2007.

Dr Finniear took his undergraduate degree from Loughborough University UK with first class honours in Civil Engineering. He holds a PhD in an engineering related field.

He has worked in the UK, Asia and the USA, and has held senior executive roles in technology companies that service defence organizations worldwide. In his most recent role as CEO of Derceto Ltd, he operated businesses in New Zealand, the USA and the UK. He has strong business contacts in the American market and direct experience with Defence Industry acquisition procedures in this country.

The Executive Chairman, Terry O’Dwyer, welcomed Dr Finniear’s appointment saying that the Company would be very well served by his experience and technical skills.

“In particular, he has had extensive experience taking developed concepts through to commercial products, orders and sales”, Mr O’Dwyer said. “Metal Storm has significantly progressed its capacity toward commercialized products over the last 12 months and consequently the timing of Dr Finniear’s appointment as CEO is another part of the careful process by the Company to build its sales, partnering and delivery capability.”

Ich drücks mal in EUR aus: Mein erstes Kursziel ist der Bereich 0,13 - 0,14. Sollte der genommen werden seh ich als nächstes Ziel das 52W-Hoch bei 0,180. In Australien läuft der Kurs sauber an der 20W-Linie, das dürfte unterstützen. Der positive Newsflow dürfte in den nächsten Wochen weitergehen. Erster Step ist der Navy-Vertrag.

In den USA wurde schonmal die 3,00 Grenze getestet. Der Anstieg der letzten Tage lässt mich auf positive News beim Navy-Vertrag hoffen

The Company’s previous experience has been that it is difficult to predict the period of time between the announcement of intention to award a contract and formal confirmation of that contract.

Metal Storm is currently focused on a concentrated period of engineering work that involves several cycles of building and testing of different configurations to generate:-

1. Two prototype Three Shot Grenade Launchers;
2. Two prototypes of the stabilised remotely operable weapons including an electronic fire control system and a Metal Storm Ballistics Weapons System; and
3. A successful live test firing of low velocity air burst rounds and low velocity high explosive rounds suitable for Metal Storm Ballistic Weapons in conjunction with Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd.

As detailed in the last year’s Renounceable Rights Issue Prospectus, these are key milestones to be achieved by 30 June 2007. This work is currently being carried out by the Company’s Australian office while the US office is continuing its focus on increasing contract revenues while continuing its work on current contracts.

The new CEO Dr Lee Finniear joined the Company on 19 February 2007 and is actively familiarising himself with the Company’s activities. Dr Finniear has considerable experience in taking developed concepts through to commercial products, order and sales.

schreibt der CEO jetzt wohl monatlich einen Report. Da ist man dann auf dem laufenden. Außerdem kann man den Finanzbericht 2006 runterladen.

Der CEO Report ist wohl auch die letzte Möglichkeit, gegen die schlechten Zahlen zu argmetieren, die Metalstorm 2006 hingelegt hat.

Wenn da nicht bald mal was positives passiert, verschwindet das Geld im Lokus.

RISIKO - aber wenn das Ding zündet, dann heißt es volle Deckung Richtung NORDEN

Bin zuversichtlich. Denke dass der neue CEO frischen Wind in das Unternehmen bringt und wir uns demnächst über positive News freuen können. Der Navy Vertrag wäre ein passender Start.

Potential haben die Produkte sicherlich, fehlen wirklich nur noch ein paar Verträge.

Die neue Informationspolitik ist sicherlich nicht schlecht. Schafft vertrauen, wenn sich bestätigt, was dort geschrieben wird.
Die Frqage ist, ob die Bush-Regierung noch Kohle für MetalStorm Produkte freimacht. Wenn die Demokraten am Ball sind, wird es sicherlich dem Verteidigungshaushalt an den Kragen gehen.
Andererseit sind die Technologien von MetalStorm ja auch nicht sooo teuer.

Hoffen wir, daß die Chinesen heiß sind auf die MetalStorm Produkte. Hautpsache, die Chinesen ballern damit nicht später Europa oder gar die BRD platt. Dann habe ich meinen eigenen KILL finanziert.

Metal Storm and Electro Optic Systems (ASX trading code: EOS) announced today that the RedbackTM weapon system has completed integrated system testing including live firing. The firings confirm mechanical, electronic and communications interfaces between the Electro Optic System’s high speed mount, sight and fire control systems and the Metal Storm 40mm weapons pod.

RedbackTM is a joint project developed by EOS, Metal Storm and Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics) and brings together three unique technologies to provide a weapon system that addresses as yet unmet defence needs.

Metal Storm’s 4 barrel weapon pod provides the firepower via its stacked munition capability, selectable munitions and capability to deliver intense bursts of firepower. EOS provides the lightweight high performance mount as well as the battle proven, integrated sensor and fire control suite.

When combined with ST Kinetics’ 40mm air-bursting munitions, RedbackTM will provide a high speed platform able to rapidly and precisely deliver air-bursting munitions in the direction of any incoming threat.

The latest firings are a continuation of trials which have been completed on indoor and outdoor ranges in Australia and Singapore with both inert and high explosive rounds. They achieve another milestone in the lead up to the explosive munitions live firings to be undertaken shortly.

The RedbackTM weapon system attracted considerable attention recently when it was displayed at the IDEX military products trade show in Abu Dhabi in February 2007.

Metal Storm’s CEO Dr Lee Finniear said the RedbackTM project was a priority project for the company and that the weapon system qualification and safety certification processes are running to plan. “This is a very important step towards the completion of the practical weapons system and in Metal Storm’s circumstance, in meeting its internal milestone objectives to commercialisation on time. This step also continues to demonstrate the company’s delivery on its key convertible note commitments“.

EOS’ CEO Dr Ben Greene said the RedbackTM project was on schedule and on budget and anticipated production for key customers to commence in 2008.

ST Kinetics’ President, Mr Sew Chee Jhuen, commended the results of the live firing tests. “The success of the RedbackTM project affirms ST Kinetics’ commitment to 40mm weapon systems and munitions to equip tomorrow’s warfighter with greater effectiveness. We will continue to work closely with our partners to leverage our respective technologies to enhance our positions as market leaders for 40mm solutions.”

1.) Was ist mit beweglichen Zielen ?

Weiteres Update BEZÜGLICH: Möglicher US Marine-Vertrag

Die Firma hat vorher geraten, daß der formale Rat des Resultates des möglichen Vertrages mit der US Marine verzögert worden war und es Rat zum Markt des 23. Februar 2007 anzeigte ist, daß die Firma erwartete, von diesem bis zum spätem März 2007 formal benachrichtigt zu werden.

Das Büro US der Firma fährt fort, im regelmäßigen Dialog mit der US Marine zu sein und die Firma betrachtet noch, daß es gute Aussichten gibt, daß dieser Vertrag zugesprochen wird.

Wie vorher geraten, hat die Erfahrung der Firma bis jetzt, daß es schwierig gewesen ist, den Zeitabschnitt zwischen der Ansage der Absicht vorauszusagen, einen Vertrag und eine formelle Mitteilung dieses Vertrages zuzusprechen.

Es ist jetzt das Verständnis der Firma, das es erwartet, vom Resultat dieses möglichen Vertrages von nun an bis zu dem Ende Mai formal benachrichtigt zu werden.

Der neue CEO, Dr. Lee Finniear ist gerade von einem Besuch zum Büro US der Firma zurückgekommen und getroffen eine Anzahl von US Kunden und möglichen Kunden. Das US Büro setzt seinen Fokus auf zunehmenden Vertrag Einkommen beim Fortsetzen seiner Arbeit auf gegenwärtigen Verträgen fort.

Wie Preiselbeere schon gemeldet hat, gibt es ein neues Bulletin Board vom CEO.

Aber ganz klar, daß diese Sache langfristig zu sehen ist. Kurzfristig wird es wohl nicht zu + 100% kommen, denke ich mal.

Schön wäre es, wenn sich der Kurs wieder über die 0,1 Grenze durch die gute Informationspolitik bewegt.

Hallo an alle im Forum,

ich bin schon seit über einem Jahr an der Metal Storm beteiligt und versuche mir schon seit längerem zu erklären wieso der Aktienkurs um die Jahrtausend Wende bei ca. 18 Euro stand. Hat einer von euch die Infos was hinter dieser erschreckenden Kursentwicklung bei Metal Storm steckt. Wie ich weiß war das Unternehmen ja schon immer in der Waffenentwicklung tätig, die begebenheiten haben sich also nicht geändert.

Der einzige Grund, der mir derzeit einfällt, könnte eine Kapitalerhöhung um die Jahrtausendwende gewesen sein, die Ihren Investitionszweck anscheinend bis heute nicht erfüllt.

Ich freue mich auch über dieses Forum Kontakt mit jemanden aufzunehmen, der sich fundamental mit der Aktie außereinander gesetzt hat. Mir fällt es schwer, insbesondere vorausschauende Unternehmenszahlen zu "prognostizieren", die realistisch werden falls bspw. ledeglich Eine der vielen Innovationen (Waffenprototypen) erfolgreich an das US Militär verkauft werden kann und wie die jeweiligen Wahrscheinlichkeiten für die einzelnen Waffenprototypen verteilt sind erfolgversprechend vermarktet zu werden.

On 17 November 2006, Metal Storm Limited (the Company) advised the market of a potential contract with the US Navy Space & Warfare Center for the production of one (1) anti-personnel unattended weapons pod system utilising Electronic Ballistic Technology (EBT) and one (1) operator unit. At that time the Company expected to be advised of the outcome of this potential contract by 30 December 2006. Since that time the Company has kept the market informed of the status of this potential contract.

The Company is pleased to advise that in keeping with the normal contracting processes of the US Navy, it has now received a formal Request for Proposal for this contract. The Company will provide its formal response to the US Navy's Request by the due date 13 June 2007.

Metal Storm Limited announced today successful milestone test firings of Redback™, a remotely operated weapons system developed jointly by Metal Storm, Electro Optic Systems (EOS) and Singapore Technology Kinetics (STK).

At the Annual General Meeting on May 25, 2007, the Company advised that in June it was preparing to undertake a series of explosive test firings of its Redback™ remotely operated weapons system, 3GL three shot grenade launcher, and the Metal Storm modified STK 40mm High Explosive and Airburst munitions at the STK range at Bukit Timah, Singapore.

The main purpose of these test firings is to take a significant step forward in the refinement of the Metal Storm systems through repeated live test firings on a range with extensive data gathering and analysis equipment. The Company is pleased to report that the test firings are proceeding as planned. This test firing was witnessed by an independent expert appointed by the Trustee for the Convertible Note holders.

The Singapore test firing program is set to continue. Five Metal Storm 3GL three shot grenade launchers have been flown to Singapore along with a second team of engineers. Test firing for these weapons will begin on Monday June 18, 2007.

The Company looks forward to providing further updates to the market once the remaining test firings are completed.

On 28th July, 2006 Metal Storm announced a fully underwritten Renounceable Rights Issue. In the Issue Prospectus the Company explained its product development programs, and, importantly, set clear and specific goals to have completed fully functional prototypes of its RedbackTM and 3GL weapons and associated 40mm ammunition by no later than 30th June 2007. The Company also set the goal to have $AUD19.5M in cash on 30th June 2007. These goals took the form of binding covenants between the Company and holders of the convertible notes offered in the Renounceable Rights Issue.

On June 21st 2007, Metal Storm advised the market that it had achieved the goals relating to fully functional ammunition systems and weapons prototypes.

The Company is pleased to advise that Mr. Mike Hannan, the independent expert appointed by the Trustee to assess compliance, has now delivered his full report to the Trustee in which he confirms the success of Metal Storm meeting the covenant.

In regard to the cash covenant, the Company is also pleased to confirm that on 30th June 2007 the Company held a cash balance of $AUD20.7M. This is significantly higher than the $AUD19.5M required, and is a strong reflection on the focus and diligence with which the Company has been managing its expenditure.

On 17 November 2006, the Company advised the market of a potential contract with the US Navy Space & Warfare Center (SPAWAR) for the production of one (1) anti-personnel unattended weapons pod system utilising Electronic Ballistic Technology (EBT) and one (1) operator unit. At that time the Company expected to be advised of the outcome of this potential contract by 30 December 2006. Since that time the Company has kept the market informed of the status of this potential contract.

On 12 June 2007 the Company advised the market that in keeping with the normal contracting processes of the US Navy, it had received a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) for this contract. In response to that RFP, the Company provided its formal response to the US Navy\'s Request by the due date 13 June 2007.

Auch wenn der Kurs volantil ist, kann ich mir gut vorstellen, daß hier die Technologie innerhalb von 24 Monaten den Kurs *explodieren* lässt.

1) Die Informationspolitik in dem Laden ist für einen Pennystock erste Sahne
2) Die Technik entwickelt sich gut und beständig weiter !
3) Der Markt ist da - auch wenn leider Mr. Bush keine weitere Gelegenheit in den USA bekommen wird. Die Demokraten werden das Wehrbudget nicht so stark hochhalten --> weniger Möglichkeiten für Metal Strom
4) Das Unternehmen hat gute Partner EOS usw.
5) Die Gefahr, daß das Geld (noch) ausgeht, besteht m.e. nicht
6) Die Technik ist für alle Militärstaaten / Kunden von großen Interesse.
7) Australien liegt in der Nähe von China (Metalstrom ist australische Firma) Wenn die Chinesen erst mal heiß werden, rollt der Rubel (ach, dass ist ja Rußland) Gefahr allerdings der Nachbauten durch China.
8) Ich habe Geduld und bleibe dabei.

Frage ist, wann es wirklich gen Norden geht. 24 Monate zu warten dauert lange.

Metal Storm Products Attract Attention at Major US Army Exhibition
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - October 17, 2007) - Metal Storm Limited (ASX: MST) (NASDAQ: MTSX)

Metal Storm is pleased to advise that it exhibited several of its products at the prestigious Association of the United States Army Conference (AUSA) held at the Washington, DC Convention Centre from 8th to 10th October, 2007.

Metal Storm presented the 3GL three shot, semi automatic grenade launcher as well as a single barrel weapon and a 4 barrel weapon pod for robotic system applications.

Two 3GL models were exhibited, an existing design on its own integrated shoulder stock, and a new design with an integrated pistol grip mounted to an M16 assault rifle. The latter design proved particularly popular with exhibition attendees as its shorter overall length, combined with an improved ergonomic design, highlighted the capability advantages that 3GL provides for ground troops. Comments from military personnel at the exhibition reinforced the requirement for a semi automatic under barrel grenade launcher, whilst experienced combat veterans were surprised at the low weight of the weapon.

Metal Storm presented two weapons capabilities for integration on military robotic platforms. The first was a single barrel 40mm Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Disruptor prototype which can be attached to the arm of small robots. This weapon extends the work carried out for a US Army SBIR contract and adapts a 40mm disruptor slug to provide multiple shot capabilities for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations.

The second capability exhibited was a small, 40mm, lightweight 4 barrel remotely operated weapons system (ROWS) specifically designed for robotic platform applications. The additional capabilities of this weapon system include weight, size and deployed cost advantages. This weapon system also has a high firepower to weight advantage and generated significant interest for its suitability in robotic, vehicular and fixed asset protection applications.

Metal Storm releases latest Redback and Anti-RPG test firing Video Published October 22, 2007 9:30 am

Metal Storm is pleased to announce the release of new video footage showing the Redback™ during recent trials in Singapore, and the first test firings of the system in an anti-RPG capacity against simulated RPG targets.


The video is designed to give an overview of the Redback™ weapons system and is divided into two parts. Part One shows the various Redback™ capabilities, including firing multiple stacked projectiles from a single barrel, firing high explosive and enhanced blast 40mm warheads, the Redback™ targeting and moving target tracking capabilities, and the cumulative effect of up to three HE warheads detonating simultaneously at target.

Part Two provides a brief overview of the first anti-RPG test firings to be undertaken by Metal Storm. The firings were the first of a series of component tests to be conducted over the coming months. The first trials were designed to test the Metal Storm launch, detonation and intercept components of the system, making the assumption that the RPG launch detection and tracking had already been accomplished. Future trials will test the detection & tracking components of the system.

Metal Storm Chief Engineer, Dr. Joe Cronin notes “The challenge to intercept an incoming RPG is not a trivial task. With the RPG traveling in excess of 250 m/s (600 mph), and the warheads traveling at 80 m/s (200 mph) in the opposite direction the ability to fire and detonate rounds at a predictable time and place is crucial. This is why Metal Storm’s precise electronic firing and multiple launch capability makes such a difficult task possible. The impact on the incoming RPG is twofold; the blast is designed to deflect the RPG from its intended target, whilst the fragmentation is designed to disrupt the fusing and operation of the shaped charge warhead. Even if the damaged RPG still reaches its intended target it poses a much reduced threat to the vehicle and its occupants”. The fact that we were able to detonate multiple rounds within a metre of the target is extremely encouraging.

As can be seen from the video footage, the Metal Storm weapon intercepted an incoming simulated RPG, and created a significant blast and fragmentation effect on the target. Slow motion footage showing the intercept of a simulated RPG is the highlight of the video release.

Live Fire Demonstration Validates Metal Storm Technology in Less Lethal Applications

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - December 21, 2007) - Metal Storm Limited (NASDAQ: MTSX) (ASX: MST) is pleased to announce that Metal Storm Incorporated (MSI) has successfully conducted a live fire demonstration of a Crowd Control system using Metal Storm stacked projectile technology. The demonstration was performed under a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract with the U.S. Army that began in January, 2006.

The demonstration was designed to display several technical objectives which included the development of a family of Less Lethal munitions with smart round features; development of an electronic fire control system with targeting and ranging; the acquisition of a man-machine interface; and the integration of the entire system with an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). Metal Storm met these objectives with an integrated weapon system that provides the operator with several options when responding to a domestic or Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) scenario.

The system was developed by Metal Storm working with several key technology partners including iRobot who supplied their Warrior UGV platform and TeleRobotics who specializes in networked remotely operated weapons systems.

Commenting on the demonstration, Peter D. Faulkner, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Metal Storm's U.S. Operations, said, "We see the Less Lethal arena as a significant growth market and one that adapts well with the Metal Storm stacked round technology. The Metal Storm system can be used with riot/crowd control, police actions or other situations where use of deadly force is unwarranted."

The event was attended by representatives from the U.S. Army, the Joint Non Lethal Weapons Directorate and the Fairfax County Virginia law enforcement Civil Disturbance Unit.

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - February 7, 2008) - Metal Storm Limited (ASX: MST) (NASDAQ: MTSX) is pleased to announce that Metal Storm Inc. has conducted a successful demonstration of the Metal Storm 18mm Multi-Shot Accessory Under-barrel Launcher (MAUL) weapon system at a U.S. test range.

The outstanding results of the demonstration, which was conducted in front of potential customers, is a further necessary step in the progress being made to develop a family of weapons with strong military interest.

The MAUL is designed to fit to existing assault rifles as a semi-automatic accessory weapon, enhancing firepower and capability without the need to carry a separate gun.

This demonstration of capability was the last of a series of tests spanning 12 months that were conducted for design verification of the weapon on a test bench. The system will be transferred to the U.S. Military for further testing at a Government test range.

Metal Storm Inc. General Manager Peter D. Faulkner said the 18mm gun was an important part of Metal Storm's product family.

"Not only does it demonstrate the scalability of our technology to higher muzzle velocities and smaller calibres, but it directly addresses the needs of the warfighter with a versatile accessory shotgun that is smaller, lighter and more reliable than current offerings that use mechanical firing systems," Mr. Faulkner said.

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - May 22, 2008) - Defence technology company Metal Storm Limited (ASX: MST) (NASDAQ: MTSX) is pleased to announce that earlier today its US subsidiary Metal Storm Inc. conducted a successful public live fire demonstration of the Metal Storm 12-Gauge Multi-shot Accessory Under-barrel Launcher (MAUL) at the International Infantry & Joint Services Small Arms Systems Symposium in Dallas, Texas.

The demonstration was open to all symposium visitors that wished to attend. Over 100 military and civilian personnel attended the firing, which demonstrated the MAUL in fully automatic (400rpm) burst fire mode.

The symposium, which is sponsored by the National Defense Industrial Association, is a premier event running from May 19-22 where Small Arms communities come together for technical paper presentations, informational speakers and exhibits of the hardware used by current and future defence organisations.

The MAUL is designed to fit to existing assault rifles as a semi-automatic accessory weapon, enhancing firepower and capability without the need to carry a separate gun, and was developed under a contract to the United States Marines Corps Warfighting Laboratory.

Metal Storm Inc. General Manager Peter D. Faulkner said the symposium provides Metal Storm with the ideal platform to showcase a range of products that were rapidly approaching commercialisation.

"This successful demonstration is a further enhancement of the credibility of the MAUL product before an audience of key decision makers from potential civilian and military customers," Mr Faulkner said.

As well as the demonstration, Metal Storm is also exhibiting in its booth a static display of the 3GL three shot 40mm grenade launcher, the MAUL, and the FireStorm multi-barrel remotely-operated weapons system mounted on an iRobot Warrior robotic platform.

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - February 3, 2009) - Metal Storm Limited (ASX: MST) (PINKSHEETS: MTSXY).

Defence technology specialist Metal Storm Ltd has achieved a major milestone by successfully certifying its semi-automatic 3GL grenade launcher for safe man-firing.

Following extensive testing and successful certification, several 3 round semi-automatic volleys were man-fired at an outdoor range in Queensland. It was the first stacked-round shoulder firing of a certified grenade launcher from the Brisbane-based weapons developer.

Metal Storm CEO Dr Lee Finniear said the 3GL man-firing in Brisbane was the culmination of a lengthy process to move from initial research prototypes to a safe, certified, shoulder-fired weapon.

"This is a crucially important demonstration for us as part of the detailed process of developing the 3GL for production and sale.

"Up until now we have carried out our testing from the safety of a test firing bench. Today we completed a series of live shoulder-fire trials to demonstrate that the 3GL grenade launcher has been successfully certified safe to man-fire," Dr Finniear said.

The 3GL three-shot grenade launcher is a world first, being the only 40mm launcher which is light and compact enough to attach as an accessory to an assault rifle, while also providing a three-shot, semi-automatic firing capability.

The 3GL effectively trebles the reactive grenade firepower of an infantry squad, making it a competitive alternative to improve the effectiveness of ground troops worldwide.

Dr Finniear said 30 rounds of stacked non-explosive 40mm ammunition were shoulder-fired during the Brisbane tests, with high speed and conventional cameras recording the event for engineering analysis purposes. Video footage will soon be made available by Metal Storm.

He said Metal Storm aims to commence production of the 3GL in 2010.

"With the certification of the 3GL for safe man-firing behind us, we can now demonstrate the weapon to military forces," Dr Finniear said.

"Soon, with the completion of the high explosive dual purpose (HEDP) ammunition qualification that is currently in process, we will be able to demonstrate the man-firing of both training practice and high explosive ammunition which will further expedite the sales process.

"The 3GL has matured rapidly by weapons development standards, with the design of the first stand-alone 3GL prototypes commencing less than three years ago.

"We have fired thousands of rounds over the past two years and performed a range of environmental, electromagnetic, shock and ballistics testing to certify the weapon for man-firing.

"Our next engineering step with 3GL is to complete the detailed ruggedizing of the weapon to qualify it for full military trials, while in parallel conducting a series of live fire demonstrations for military customers."

Military evaluation company Nova Defence has independently reviewed the 3GL and reported that with appropriate planning and support Metal Storm's objectives for the weapon were "entirely achievable."

Defence technology specialist Metal Storm Limited announced today the successful completion of a 200 shot, endurance firing test of its 40mm STORM40 ammunition using its 3GL grenade launcher.

The test follows the successful shoulder firing of the 3GL weapon in February this year and is a significant step forward for the company in ascertaining the veracity of the rounds for use in a combat environment.

Metal Storm Chief Engineer David Pashen said the results of the test were very pleasing both for the ammunition and weapon.

"We used a single 3GL that was not cleaned throughout the test," he said. "It is a testament to the design, durability and integrity of both the ammunition and weapon that the rounds maintained a constant velocity for 200 firings without any adverse effects.

"This illustrates the reliability of the 40mm STORM40 and 3GL as practical tools for operational conditions where there may not be time to clean a weapon between engagements."

The successful firing is a significant step for the company and represents testing to an accepted military standard.

Mr Pashen said he was confident Metal Storm could now build on the results and complete the full qualification of the ammunition.

"Firing 200 rounds in stacks of three demonstrates that this system has reached levels of maturity and reliability that had not been previously demonstrated by the company," he said.

Metal Storm CEO Dr Lee Finniear said the 3GL provides a unique competitive advantage for the company, being the only 40mm launcher which is light and compact enough to attach as an accessory to an assault rifle, while also providing a three-shot, semi-automatic firing capability.

Dr Finniear said the 3GL held many advantages over single-shot weapons systems.

"The most obvious advantage is how the 3GL can be used in the opening seconds of a combat engagement," he said.

"In these critical first few seconds a squad equipped with 3GLs can unleash three times the number of 40mm grenades on the enemy. Whether in a planned attack, or in response to an ambush by the enemy, this firepower can be the decisive element in winning the firefight and saving our soldiers' lives."

He said Metal Storm is aiming for production of the 3GL in 2010.

Metal Storm Completes MAUL Weapon Demonstration

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - May 28, 2009) - Weapons developer Metal Storm Limited (ASX: MST) (PINKSHEETS: MTSXY) today announced that Metal Storm Inc. has successfully completed a Live Fire Demonstration under a contract with the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The demonstration was conducted at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada in front of United States military and key defence industry figures.

Metal Storm General Manager Mr. Peter D. Faulkner said the demonstration was the last of seven tasks on the contract with ONR that began just 12 months prior.

"The event was a tremendous success and clearly demonstrated the viability of our technology in a field environment. It also shows how rapidly we are able to turn concepts into realisable weapons," said Mr. Faulkner.

"The range at Nellis was set up to simulate an operationally equivalent environment for the MAUL in a crowd control situation. We fired a total of eighty less-lethal rounds at several 25 metres targets. The response from observers was universally positive," he said.

Mr. Faulkner said the Company is now focusing its attention on munitions for the MAUL. "With the launcher system development essentially complete, we'll be looking to expand the complement of less-lethal as well as lethal munitions. The demonstrations thus far have allowed us to prioritize the munition candidates and we'll be concentrating on those that offer the most utility to the broadest user base," he said.

.... ich stehe nach wie vor voll zu dieser Aktie und dem Unternehmen.

Das Jahr 2009 war wohl das härteste für das Unternhemen.
Cash is King.
Und wenn ein Unternhemen das nicht hat im Krisenjahr 2009, dann wird es eng.

ABER gerade weil Metal Storm das Jahr 2009 überstanden hat und nun die ersten festen Kunden gewinnen konnte, sehe ich hier Licht am Ende des Tunnels.

Geduld und Nerven sind nach wie vor wichtig. Trotzdem ist das Unternehmen und damit auch die Aktie eine echte Perle.

Wer hält mit ???

Ist die Firma pleite? NEIN ist sie nicht! Ja, sie ringt natürlich mit dem überleben aber pleite ist sie eben noch nicht.

Ich selbst habe in den letzten paar Monaten auch ein bißchen eingekauft, denn man weiß ja nie. Ich schätze die Chancen garnicht so schlecht ein, denn ein paar Gute Produkte haben sie ja auf Lager. Leider fehlen die Aufträge noch,jedoch soll ja einiges Intresse bestehen.( laut jüngsten Berichten)
Wir werden sehen!

Auch ich habe alle Tiefen und kaum Höhen von MST miter- beziehungsweise getragen.
Trotz allem bin ich von der Story des Unternehmens, den Produkten und vor allem vom CEO und dessen Art der Unternehmenskommunikation voll überzeugt.

Gerade die non letal weapon Technologie und die nun stetig steigenden Verbindungen zu den Kunden in den USA und Asien sind vielversprechend. Auch das verstärkte Engagement mit anderen Marktteilnehmern im Bereich der Waffentechnologie zusammen zu kooperieren, ist m.E. ein Erfolgsgarant für die Zukunft.

...und ich bin mir sicher: dass Unternehmen wird noch ganz stark gen Norden streben mit den A-Kursen. Die Märkte liegen in USA und Asien/China.

Das Unternehmen hat:
- top Technik in der Pipeline
- eine 1-A Unternehmenskommunikation
- ein stabiles Board of Management
- und nun endlich nennhaften ERFOLG.

ich habe noch mal nachgelegt. Auch wenn die eigentlich kein Geld mehr haben. Ich baue auf die jetzigen Erfolge mit Colt und anderen Unternehmen/Staaten und dadrauf, das die Kirche immer recht behält (siehe Beitrag oben )

mittlerweile kommen die von Metal Storm produzierten Hilfstools hauptsächlich in non-lethal weapons zum Einsatz - sicherlich nicht aus ethischen, sondern eher wirtschaflichen Erwägungen heraus (weltweite Nachfrage an nichttödlichen Waffen für Sicherheitskräfte etc.; höhere Margen als bei konventionellen Waffensystemen).

hab ich auch gelesen. Zu der abgesagten Kapitalspritze von Luxinvest suchen sie derzeit nach Alternativen. Bis zu neuen Erkenntnissen wird die Notierung wohl ausgesetzt bleiben.

Pleite übersteigt momentan meine Phantasie, eher eine Übernahme (Colt, BAE oder ähnlichen) - die Produkte und Patente haben Alleinstellungsmerkmal, ein (Massen)Markt ist auch vorhanden, muss "nur" entsprechend umgesetzt werden.
