Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 23.151.014 von teecee1 am 28.07.06 15:02:21Kolin to Tap EU Market in 2007

Taipei, Aug. 3, 2006 (CENS)--Taiwan Kolin Co., Ltd. (Kolin), one of Taiwan’s leading manufacturers of home appliances, has resolved to tap the European Union (EU) marketplace next year, paving the way for deploying the LCD (liquid crystal display) TV, CRT (cathode ray tube) TV, and air-conditioner market globally.

C. L. Liu, chairman of Kolin, noted his company is close to complete the buildup of five production bases globally. The company has established production bases in Taiwan, mainland China, the Philippines, and the U.S.

With the marketing deployment, Kolin has set a target to sell 600,000 units of LCD TVs globally this year and the amount will further increase to one million in 2007.

To facilitate its global market deployment, Kolin recently settled a five-year-term syndicated loan of NT$4 billion (US$123.07 million) with a banking consortium. Liu noted the syndicated loan would be used as a medium- and long-term fund for deploying the global LCD TV market. He said the favorable syndicated loan would help his company save NT$30 million (US$923,000) in interest payment per year.

At present, Kolin has established production lines for air conditioners, CRT TVs, and LCD TVs in the Philippines. In the foreseeable future, the company would add other new product lines in that nation.

Liu said his company has enhanced cooperation with the U.S.-based Syntaxbrillian Co. to deeply penetrate that market. The company currently focuses on the production of large-sized LCD TVs and 65-inch backlight TVs in the U.S.

The EU is also another major market for Kolin. As EU has imposed the strict RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances) environment-protection directive on electronics and home appliances since the beginning of July, Kolin will tap that market next year when it is ready for the production of RoHS-compliance products.

Liu said his company would be able to reach the target of shipping 600,000 units of LCD TVs, double that posted last year. In the first half of this year, the company shipped 210,000 units of the products.

The company said it would challenge NT$20 billion (US$615.38 million) in annual sales this year, representing an annual increase of over 40%.

To meet that goal, Kolin will make all-out efforts to boost domestic sales of air conditioners and LCD TVs, and imported Mitsubishi-based home appliances in the next few months to come. The company boasted it has sold 110,000 units of own-brand air conditioners in the first half of this year.

In addition, Kolin will break ground an entertainment and shopping center in Hsinchuang of Taipei County in September this year. The center is expected to begin operations in January 2008.

Investieren Westjapan
