Durch das starke Wachstum der Weltwirtschaft und die hohe Rohstoffnachfrage in Asien habe sich der Ölpreis in den letzten Jahren vervielfacht. Auch wenn der Markt derzeit leicht konsolidiere, sei ein Ende des Booms nicht absehbar.
Rancher Energy habe sich auf die so genannte Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) spezialisiert, deren Fokus auf einer möglichst vollständigen Ausbeutung von bestehenden Feldern mit innovativen Verfahren liege. Mit der CO2-Technologie könnten in der Regel 12 bis 20 Prozent der ursprünglichen Reserven gefördert werden.
In den letzten Monaten habe das Management ein aussichtsreiches Projektportfolio aufbauen können. Allein die drei größten übernommenen Ölfelder könnten nach Unternehmensangaben ein förderbares Volumen von über 100 Mio. Barrel aufweisen.
Nach der Neuausrichtung der Gesellschaft im April befinde sich das EOR-Geschäft noch in der Startphase. Zu welchem Prozentsatz das verbliebene Potenzial der Vorkommen realisiert werden könne, sei zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch schwer zu beurteilen. Aus den jüngsten Akquisitionen von aussichtsreichen Ölfeldern bestünden Zahlungsverpflichtungen in zweistelliger Millionenhöhe, für deren Begleichung die Gesellschaft noch erhebliches Kapital einwerben müsse. Das Management sei allerdings zuversichtlich, in Kürze entsprechende Verträge abschließen zu können.
