Ascent Solar Technologies Announces Major Breakthrough in Solar Cell Performance
      for Space and Near-Space Environments

THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/08/16 -- Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASTI),

a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, flexible thin-film photovoltaic modules integrated into the Company's EnerPlex™ series of consumer products, announced today the Company has achieved a major breakthrough in power-to-weight ratio for its superlight solar module, delivering over 1700 watts of power per kilogram, operating at AM0, technically known as the space environment. At this performance, Ascent's superlight module would weigh 66% less than a comparable PV system using the highest-quality crystalline silicon and with far less design complexity. The elimination of two-thirds of the weight is a critical improvement for satellites, space vehicles and space stations.

For space and near-space applications, power-to-weight ratio is a key performance metric. In addition to simplicity, our modules could dramatically impact cost. Depending on the application, such as low earth orbit all the way to manned flights, including contemplated missions to Mars, the fully burdened cost can be anywhere from thousands of dollars to $1 Million per pound for a space launch. By creating this superior module with the best power-to-weight ratio of any available product, Ascent has enabled entrance into the rapidly growing space and near space markets.

"There are several exciting aspects of this major breakthrough that make it significant for Ascent Solar," stated Dr. Joseph Armstrong, co-founder and CTO of Ascent Solar Technologies. "Ascent's proprietary technology and unique manufacturing approach is ideally suited for space and near-space applications, as we are the only producer that utilizes both flexible copper-indium-gallium-selenide (CIGS) PV and monolithic integration. Our flexible substrate is the lightest of any in production, and monolithic integration results in a cell layout that is ideal for high intensity sunlight found in the space environment. Additionally, our modules can dramatically reduce the part count by over 90% compared to existing space solar array construction, thereby making assembly of large solar arrays for space and near-space applications easier, more cost effective, and more reliable." Dr. Armstrong continued, "While the design specifications for the modules were optimized for the space environment, they will be very useful for other applications such as unmanned aircraft, drones, as well as other terrestrial applications."

Victor Lee, President and CEO of Ascent Solar, commented, "This tremendous achievement will help accelerate the roll out of our space and near-space PV applications with agencies with whom we have been working. Additionally, we believe there are several private organizations, both domestic and international, with ambitions in space and near-space markets that would be keenly interested in our superior power-to-weight ratio photovoltaics. This technical achievement is a testament to our strategic shift in market focus since 2012 and will continue to open up new and valuable premium market opportunities for Ascent, enabling the sale of very high margin products."

      ........

(OTCQB: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, flexible thin-film photovoltaic modules integrated into the Company's EnerPlex™ series of consumer products, announced today the Company has introduced two new high voltage-low current products specifically designed to address the needs of the high altitude aerospace market. Photovoltaic modules for this market must deliver high voltage and power while maintaining low current and for the least possible weight. Ascent's new products provide voltages above 270 volts in a single, lightweight unit. Both products are roughly 3/4th of a square meter and differ in shape to accommodate various applications. Because these fully laminated products, utilize the company's flexible, monolithically integrated copper-indium-gallium-diselenide (CIGS) photovoltaics, they can conform to the shape of wing and airship hull surfaces. They also retain sufficient environmental protection to keep the solar module safe and functional during all aspects of the mission.

"The high voltage, light module takes advantage of all of the superior characteristics of Ascent's monolithically integrated CIGS photovoltaic technology. These products will fill a niche that has not been addressed by any other commercial product," stated Dr. Joseph Armstrong, founder and CTO of Ascent Solar Technologies. "Our unique monolithic integration technology enables us to achieve higher voltages within a smaller area and with significantly lower part count than any other technology. Both products consist of our SuperLight construction that only weighs 400g per square meter, and can take advantage of our new 1700 W/kg technology as it transitions to production."

Victor Lee, President & CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies, said, "Higher voltage solar arrays enable operation at lower current resulting in reduced power transmission losses. Such high voltage-low current modules are desired for the aerospace market, because they enable lower part count, lighter power leads and other characteristics allowing a meaningful reduction in complexity and weight. Combined with our already lightweight, flexible laminate construction, this new breakthrough provides the high altitude community with an immediately available source for critical solar energy components. We can also work with customers to customize this product as needed to fit their specific applications."

Ascent Solar was awarded 2 new US Patents, covering the latest improvements in device construction

Ascent Solar demonstrated further efficiency gains for space and near-space applications

      FY2015 Financial Results:

The Company posted its highest recorded quarterly net revenue of $2.4M in the fourth quarter of 2015, an approximately 90% increase over third quarter of $1.25M. On a full year basis, the Company reported net revenue of $6.5M, a growth of approximately 23% over 2014. Specifically, the EnerPlex™ brand consumer product line continued to realize growing consumer acceptance, contributing nearly the entirety of the fourth quarter revenue and approximately 90% of the full year 2015 revenue.

Loss from Operations improved significantly by about $6.2M, or 18.3% from ($33.9M) in 2014, to ($27.7M) in 2015, while the Company continued revenue growth momentum. Ascent Solar attributes this improved result to a combination of improved operational efficiencies, a reduction in SG&A expenses from $14.1M in 2014 to $12.4M in 2015, as well as progressive cost reduction initiatives in R&D and manufacturing operations. These expenses are expected to remain flat while the Company continues to ramp revenue growth in 2016. The Company also incurred significant legal and financing expenses related to the financing activities in 2015, including the capital restructuring exercise that begun in September 2015. It is expected such expenses will decrease in 2016, adding to improved operational margins.

Net loss also improved substantially from ($51.4M) in 2014 to ($45.8M) in 2015, despite the significant non-cash Interest Expense, Change in Fair Value of Derivatives and Extinguishment of Liabilities, totaling approximately $17.1M in FY2015, which was associated with the retired Senior Secured Convertible Notes highlighted earlier.

      Management Comments:

"I am optimistic about the Company's future after delivering record-breaking revenue for yet another year," said Victor Lee, President and CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. "With the ongoing expansion of our distribution channels, I am extremely confident to set another significant revenue milestone of over $10M for 2016. In particular, the achievement of the listing of our products with the GSA in December 2015 after a year of hard work, and our expanded global retail networks, should support our continued growth."

Mr. Lee concluded: "The paradigm shift of Ascent Solar in the past 3 years is clearly beginning to yield results. The Company's transformation since the second half of 2012 has so far demonstrated an impressive CAGR of 122% since FY2013, the de facto first full-year of operations of our EnerPlex division and a new consumer focused strategy. We are very optimistic and certainly look forward to a much stronger 2016 and beyond, as our high-value PV market focus, especially in the military, aviation (drones), and near-space applications begin to take shape. We look forward to updating our shareholders as we make continued progress."

Dr. Amit Kumar, Chairman of Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc., stated: "As evident by the list of noted accomplishments, Ascent continues to build its business in high margin markets through partnering with numerous organizations to expand the reach of our products. These partnerships will not only enable greater customer reach, but will also help strengthen the EnerPlex brand, reduce costs, and facilitate the launch of many new products. I truly expect that 2016 will be an exciting and transformative year for Ascent Solar."

An updated investor presentation will be made available on the company's website from 8:00am Eastern Time on 14th March 2016.

Ascent Solar Announces Reverse Stock Split

THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/01/16 -- Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, flexible thin-film photovoltaic modules integrated into the company's EnerPlex™ series of consumer products, today announced a one-for-twenty reverse stock split of the Company's common stock which will become effective at 5 p.m., Eastern Time, on Wednesday, June 1st, 2016.

The Company's common stock is expected to commence trading, at market open, on a post-reverse stock split basis on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016.

Ascent's common stock will continue to trade on the OTCQB Venture Marketplace under the symbol "ASTI." A new CUSIP number will be issued to Ascent's common stock after the reverse stock split becomes effective.

As a result of the reverse stock split, every 20 shares of the Company's common stock issued and outstanding at the effective time will automatically be combined into one issued and outstanding share without any change in the par value of those shares. In lieu of issuing fractional shares, the Company will round fractions of shares up to the nearest whole share.

Once the reverse stock split becomes effective, stockholders holding shares through a brokerage account will have their shares automatically adjusted to reflect the 1-for-20 reverse stock split. Existing stockholders holding common stock certificates will receive a letter of transmittal from Ascent's transfer agent, Computershare Investor Services, LLC, with specific instructions regarding the exchange of shares.

The Company expects to have approximately 17 million post-split shares outstanding as a result of the reverse stock split. The number of authorized shares of the Company's common stock will remain at 450 million shares.

The number of shares of the Company's Series A, E, F and G Convertible Preferred Stock outstanding will not be affected by the reverse stock split. However, the number of shares of common stock into which each outstanding share of Series A, E, F and G Convertible Preferred Stock is convertible will be adjusted proportionately as a result of the reverse stock split.

All outstanding RSUs, stock options, warrants and rights to acquire shares of the Company's common stock will be adjusted proportionately. The maximum number of shares available for grant under the Company's stock option plan and restricted stock plan will be adjusted proportionately as a result of the reverse stock split.

      -working capital

      finanziert durch
      -gut 5 MUSD debt
-rund 5 MUSD accounts payable & accrued expenses

      und um das zu heben, sind weitere Finanzierungen erforderlich, die immer nur in homöopathischen Dosen vorgenommen werden, damit man nie zu viel rausrückt;

Ascent Solar in dash for cash as sales plummet and heavy losses continue

By Mark Osborne Sep 26, 2016

Struggling flexible CIGS thin-film consumer product producer Ascent Solar Technologies expects to raise US$1.12 million in a US$1.35 million Series J 10% Convertible Preferred Stock placement with an unidentified investor.

Ascent Solar had cited a catalogue of woes over plummeting sales in the first half of 2016, while significant losses persisted.

The company had reported in August that total revenue in the first half of 2016 had plummeted to only US$966,000, compared to US$2.89 million in the prior year period, while losses reached US$14.64 million, up from losses of US$13.85 million in the prior year period.

Initial gross proceeds of the latest share offering are US$225,000, with the remaining funds expected to be secured in October and November 2016.

Victor Lee, President and CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies said, “The funding will provide us with ongoing working capital needs as we continue to focus on the high value specialty PV market. The new investment reinforces our Investor's belief in Ascent's strategy and the tremendous potential of the Company's lightweight flexible CIGS solar panel."

Ascent Solar had previously said that it first half year sales decline was due a temporary slowdown of purchase orders from one of its large customers as new management took over, while sales terms to some of other customer meant a deferral of a portion of revenue.

The company also noted that one of its key clients had filed for bankruptcy in the period and its NASDAQ de-listing impacted its ability to raise new funds.

Ascent's Lightweight Thin-Film Solar Selected for Further Evaluation by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for Deep Space Missions

THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/07/16 -- Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (OTCBQ: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, lightweight and flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, announces that the Company was selected by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as part of their next round of evaluations for providing solar technology for an upcoming mission to Jupiter, as well as to address additional missions. This decision followed an earlier round of investigation with promising results, during which the Company's flexible, monolithically integrated copper-indium-gallium-selenide (CIGS) solar module was subjected to environmental extremes, and continued to operate well.

During the first phase of JAXA's evaluation, Ascent's PV was successfully tested below -146°C (-231°F) and up to +190°C (+374 °F), and to only 4% of the sunlight generally received in earth's orbit. In addition, JAXA has also subjected Ascent's PV to radiation and mechanical testing.

"JAXA's Jovian mission is a testament to the advancements being made in orbit, both in terms of its objectives, as well as the extremes in which the vehicle is required to operate," stated Dr. Joseph Armstrong, Chief Technology Officer and founder of Ascent Solar. "Missions of this type traditionally use fragile crystalline solar cells that require additional structure for protection. Our lightweight, flexible technology can take advantage of novel array construction that provide higher performance in a more economical package. JAXA has decided to investigate lower-cost flexible thin-film solar technology in conjunction with a solar sail concept that was first demonstrated on their IKAROS project in 2010. Our PV will be used in conjunction with a solar sail design that would provide both propulsion, as well as lightweight electrical power for the mission."

A link to the webpage describing the IKAROS (Interplanetary Kite-craft Accelerated by Radiation of the Sun) mission can be found here: http://www.isas.jaxa.jp/e/enterp/missions/ikaros/index.shtml

"We are very honored to be selected to work with JAXA in anticipation of the upcoming mission," said Victor Lee, President and CEO of Ascent Solar. "Interest from JAXA in our unique flexible CIGS PV product for high-performance aerospace applications is encouraging, as we believe it will increase awareness of what Ascent's PV has to offer in this challenging aerospace market."

JAXA intends to leverage their existing solar sail technology with lightweight solar components to combine both solar propulsion and solar power generation. As stated by the JAXA Solar Power Sail Team, "We want to develop innovative spacecraft systems with lightweight PV and pave the way for economical high-performance deep space missions."

Ascent Solar to Broaden Shareholder Communications

An Increase in Shareholder Interest Prompts New Communications Initiative to Leverage Growth and Revenue Opportunities While Offering Greater Transparency

      THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/11/17 --

Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (OTCBQ: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, lightweight, and flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, announces that the Company, in response to an increase in shareholder inquiries, is launching a new communications effort intent on broadening the visibility of recent developments and its products, to better communicate available growth and revenue opportunities, and to promote greater transparency.

"It is our goal to improve communications for increased transparency and greater product education," said Victor Lee, CEO and President of Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. "This effort will be supported by shareholder conference calls, new investor/shareholder contact forms, written corporate updates, management interviews, and video presentations to name a few."

The Company has experienced a substantial increase in shareholder inquiries. This interest partly follows the Company's recent progress in product testing by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), expansion into more than 1,600 Verizon Wireless retail stores, and a drop in 3rd Quarter revenue compared to same period last year. Recent events such as these have brought management to the realization that a new communications initiative is required for increased transparency and education purposes. While the new communications effort is being launched to meet shareholders expectations, management anticipates that the effort will ultimately engender the interest of new investors, maintain the support of current shareholders, and grow its customer base."

Mr. Lee continued, "On one hand, we have seemingly simple but highly effective and advanced consumer products. On the other hand, we have very high-end solar products -- so advanced that they are being tested for deep space missions to Jupiter. While both are fundamentally the same base product, they feature a different encapsulation to allow use in wide ranging capabilities and applicability."

"Likewise, it is somewhat difficult for shareholders to completely grasp what is going on with our revenue fluctuation; particularly when we have broad retail relationships such as Fry's Electronics and Verizon Wireless stores. In addition, shareholders may not fully appreciate the possible causes of our current depressed market valuation. Most importantly, we want the market to clearly understand what our plans are to strengthen shareholder confidence during 2017."

Mr. Lee concluded, "We will announce each aspect of the new communications initiative as we roll it out. I'm most excited about delivering our first written corporate update and having a shareholder's conference call. We believe that there is a lot to be excited about the Company in 2017."

      THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/19/17 --

Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, lightweight, and flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, announces that the Company has secured a major contract from an Asian customer to supply its high-voltage, superlight thin-film module for an advanced aerospace application.

"Ascent Solar was asked to customize a fully encapsulated, large area thin-film module weighing no more than 420 grams per square meter (1.38 ounces per square foot), which could withstand extreme operating temperature ranges from +100 to -75 Degree Celsius (approximately +210 to -100 Fahrenheit)," said Dr. Joe Armstrong, founder and CTO of Ascent Solar. "Furthermore, the Ascent team designed the module to easily integrate into the customer's application.

Meeting these specific requirements demonstrates our ability to continuously achieve new frontiers in the lightweight thin-film solar arena, and establish Ascent as the leader in high value-add PV markets."

After lengthy and vigorous testing and validation for over 2 years, the customer is now making commercial size orders. They are impressed with Ascent's technology, the team and the unique offerings of monolithically-integrated thin-film modules. The total contract value is approximately $516K, and product will be delivered throughout the year.

"This is by far the single largest PV sales contract in the corporate history of Ascent Solar," said Victor Lee, CEO and President of Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. "While the contract is significant in value, it underscores the power of Ascent's technology to address these rapidly emerging and growing markets.

We have noted previously that Ascent's thin-film technology produces modules with the highest power-to-weight ratio. For aerospace and space applications, this characteristic is incredibly important.

Additionally, the flexibility to integrate the modules into different form factors and applications, makes our technology suitable for this growing market. This contract is only the 'tip of the iceberg' as the project, if successfully launched, is expected to be rolled out on a much larger scale in the near future."

"Since pivoting away from the traditional and highly commoditized on-grid and rooftop solar markets in 2012, Ascent has been focusing on developing high value-added commercial and consumer solar products, to ensure better margin protection," Mr. Lee continued. "The sales process and cycle in such specialty PV market can be tedious and lengthy, but the progress has been very encouraging."

Mr. Lee concluded, "We believe there are a lot of great things happening at the Company in 2017, which should engender growth and encourage confidence. We will gladly continue to update shareholders and investors on new developments and market opportunities."

Ascent Solar CEO Increases Equity Stake to Over 20%, Demonstrating Commitment to Ascent Solar

      THORNTON, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/20/17 --

Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: ASTI), a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art, lightweight, and flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, announces that the Company has entered into a Security Purchase Agreement ("Agreement") with Tertius Financial Group Pte. Ltd. ("TFG"), a Singapore based entity controlled and 50% owned by Ascent's President & CEO, Victor Lee.

Pursuant to the Agreement, the Company will issue approximately 333.33 million shares of Ascent Solar's restricted Common Stock in exchange for TFG canceling its Promissory Note of $600K (plus accrued interest of approximately $4,340) that was issued by the Company to TFG on December 6, 2016 (refer to 8-K filing on December 8, 2016). The new ownership by TFG represents approximately 24% of the outstanding shares of Common Stock of the Company on a post transaction basis.

Speaking as the Managing Director of TFG, Mr. Victor Lee said, "TFG has been an investor and shareholder in Ascent Solar, through its affiliate TFG Radiant Investment Group, since August 2011 and has never sold a single share of stock. Over the last 5 years, TFG alone has committed approximately $10M to Ascent. This was done, despite an extremely challenging environment for solar module manufacturers that has resulted in dozens of bankruptcies of other competitive solar companies. Our further commitment today is a strong testament to our belief in the Company, the technology, the staff and the entire management team. More importantly, it underscores our confidence in the strategy and vast potential of Ascent's ultra-lightweight, monolithically-integrated and flexible thin-film modules. Both I and TFG are committed to the long term success of Ascent Solar."

Dr. Amit Kumar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ascent Solar, said, "We are pleased that TFG is willing to convert its debt into restricted common equity at a fixed price, demonstrating an unwavering support for Ascent Solar. While it is a challenging time for companies in the solar industry as a whole, we are confident in the various differentiators that have allowed Ascent to survive, continue to excel, and ultimately exceed hopes and expectations. TFG's multi-year support is welcomed and appreciated."

Mr. Victor Lee, on the behalf of Ascent Solar concluded, "By giving up debt for equity, TFG has demonstrated its continued commitment to Ascent Solar. This is greatly appreciated, and in return we will continue to push forward with further technological advancements and profitable growth opportunities."
