(NasdaqGM: SPPI - News) today announced that ZEVALIN® (ibritumomab tiuxetan) related posters and presentations will be presented at the 50th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), December 5-9, 2008 in San Francisco, California.
On November 26, 2008, the Company announced an agreement to form a joint venture, RIT Oncology, LLC, with Cell Therapeutics, Inc., to commercialize and develop ZEVALIN in the United States.

Zevalin ist nicht neu für Spectrum. Ihr Chef Mediziner hat seit 5 Jahren mit Zevalin zu tun.
Er ist von Zevalin total begeistert und sagte wenn er an Lymphdrüsenkrebs erkranken würde, würde er sich immer für eine Behandlung mit Zevalin entscheiden. Die Ansprechrate liegt bei über 80%. Es gibt nur sehr wenige Krebsmedikamente die das erreichen. Die Daten sind aussergewöhnlich.
Das Potential war nur deshalb so gering, weil die Indikation nur sehr wenige Patienten betrifft und Zevalin als "letzte" Möglichkeit in Betracht gezogen wurde. Dies sei aber genau verkehrt. Zevalin ist von seinen Eigenschaften her eine erst Linientherapie.
Darum wurde der Antrag auf Erstlinien Medikament bei der FDA gestellt.
