13:45 28Oct2008 RTRS-KanAm suspends exits from second property fund

LONDON, Oct 28 (Reuters) - German property fund manager KanAm said on Tuesday it had suspended investor exits from its KanAm grundinvest Fonds, citing similar liquidity pressures that forced it to shut a sister fund on Monday.
Frankfurt-based KanAm said the global financial markets crisis had bruised the confidence of investors in its funds, forcing it to bar exits for a minimum of three months to protect remaining unitholders and maintain stable fund management.
The 4.6 billion euro ($5.76 billion) KanAm grundinvest fund invests in European and North American real estate and has achieved a 6.2 percent annual return in the last five years.
KanAm said the funds' assets were not at risk and investors would continue to receive returns derived from the stable rental income generated by the fund's portfolio.
On Monday, KanAm announced it had halted redemptions from its $610 million KanAm US-grundinvest fund for three months after seeing unusually large sales of fund units in the past few weeks. [nWE4226]
