ZEOX SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES TESTING OF MERCURY REMOVAL PRODUCT ZMM® AZI
Vancouver, BC – February 5, 2009 – Mr. LuVerne E.W. Hogg, President and CEO of ZEOX Corporation (TSX-V: ZOX) is pleased to announce the Company has completed the comprehensive testing of the ZMM® AZI products (activated zeolite injection). The ZMM® AZI’s were developed for the environmental remediation markets to remove mercury (Hg) from emissions in power generated coal fired utility boilers.
The laboratory scale performance testing of the ZMM® AZI products using real flue gas, was conducted by the experienced engineering team of the University of Western Kentucky at the institute for Combustion Science and Environmental Technology. The tests were conducted at Electrical Energy Inc. a 1,086 MWh utility at Joppa, Illinois which burns Powder River Basin coal. Under these testing conditions the ZMM® AZI product candidates demonstrated performance equivalent to Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC). PAC is the most common product used for mercury removal today.
A distinct advantage for ZEOX’s ZMM® AZI technology is that zeolite does not negatively impact on the Fly Ash production, a by-product of coal burning facilities that is collected and sold into the cement industry for cost recovery.
ZEOX will produce ZMM® AZI’s at the upgraded Butte, MT facilities where ZEOX commenced production in July, 2008. The Butte facilities have a design capacity in excess of 100,000 tons per annum and with minor modifications the Butte plant can produce ZMM® AZI products.
ZEOX is eager to capture a share of the growing market to meet power industries environmental needs and is examining collaboration opportunities for marketing ZMM® AZI’s.
