Marauder Resources East Coast Inc. Announces Amendment to Previously Announced Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement in Relation to Up to US$15 Million Debenture Financing

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 13, 2012) - Marauder Resources East Coast Inc. (the "Company" or "Marauder") (TSX VENTURE:MES) is pleased to announce that its previously announced Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Puntland has been amended following a thorough technical review by the Company. Marauder has selected an offshore block, covering 10,000 km² in the Gulf of Aden, in which to focus its exploration efforts, believing the acreage has the best exploration potential of the three blocks reviewed under the original Memorandum of Understanding. Under the current MOU, Marauder and the Government are working toward executing a production sharing agreement ("PSA") on or before July 15, 2012. If the PSA is executed, Marauder would be operator and 100% working interest holder of the block that will have an initial exploration period of three years with a right to extend into a second three year period. The area is an extension of the Dharoor sub-basin where an exploration well is currently being drilled onshore by Horn Petroleum. The geology is analogous to the Sabatayn and Sayun basins in Yemen that contain an estimated 6 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

Marauder has entered into an agreement with a private financial organization for a convertible debenture of up to US$15,000,000 and is subject to due diligence. The financing will allow Marauder to sign a formal Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of Puntland and commence an exploration work program over the block. The final terms of the convertible debenture financing will be announced by Marauder once settled.

Tullow to prospect for oil in Nyakach.
Wednesday, 23 May 2012 21:06 By Samuel Otieno

British Oil Company Tullow is set to begin another round of oil prospecting in Nyakach constituency following a recent visit by the company's technicians to the area. Yesterday Nyakach DC Chaunga Mwachaunga and area MP Pollyns Ochieng, in a joint address to members of the Hindu Council of Kenya, said officials from Tullow have already secured a certificate of exploration from the Ministry of Energy to begin prospecting oil in the area. Chaunga said the prospecting is part of the government's efforts to explore minerals in the region with Nyakach believed to have oil deposits.

Speaking in his office at Pap Onditi, the DC confirmed that he had received the technical officers from Tullow who toured the area early last week with a promise start putting up a drilling machine by mid June. “The Government had earmarked some region for exploration of certain useful mineral and oil, this region was marked and Tullow were awarded the certificate top carry out exploration activities for oil in this region, other companies also have certificate to explore the possibilities of other minerals”, said the DC.

Tullow Oil general manager for Kenya Martin Mbogo yesterday confirmed that an advance team had visited the area to do block assessment. "What we are doing is surveying the area and checking issues of infrastructure, security and community issues. We expect to start the prospecting around August," Mbogo said. Oil deposits in Nyakach could open up the area for development and raise the standard of living for residents.

The wells will be the first to be sunk in the region whose major explorations are gold and other minerals. Ochieng said the Energy PS had informed him of the potential of the area and will take the matter to Parliament to expedite the exploration. Should there be oil in Nyakach, Tullow will make another breakthrough after successfully discovering oil in Ngamia 1 block in Turkana. The firm has predicted that the country potentially has huge oil deposits and has laid out a huge budget for its exploration.

Horn Petroleum Making Headway in Puntland, Somalia’s Dharoor Valley With Shabeel Exploration Wells

We have written a lot about Range Resources and Red Emperor which have assets in Puntland, Somalia, a little-known and restive corner of north-eastern Africa. We have written little about Horn Petroleum Corporation. The Toronto listed group nevertheless shares the mounting excitement about the area

The Canadian company is currently in the midst of a two-well programme (Shabeel-1 and Shabeel-2) which has already thrown up some intriguing early signs. While the first well, Shabeel-1, was no blockbuster - confirmed this week - it has highlighted the presence of a working petroleum system in the area.
An arid region of north-east Somalia, Puntland declared itself an autonomous state in August 1998, an attempt, in part, to avoid the clan warfare engulfing southern Somalia. Unlike its neighbour, breakaway Somaliland, Puntland says it does not seek recognition as an independent entity, wishing instead to be part of a federal Somalia.

It's a explored part of Africa, a continent famed for yielding big oil surprises. Frontier spots in this part of the world have become big news on more than a few occasions - from offshore Ghana to landlocked Uganda - and that’s precisely what Horn Petroleum hopes to replicate with its pair of wells.

The Canadian junior holds a 60 per cent interest and operates the Dharoor and Nugaal blocks, which encompass a Jurassic Rift Basin on trend and analogous to the large oil fields in Yemen, across the Red SeaAustralian partners Range Resources and Red Emperor each hold 20 per cent equity. The Shabeel wells - the first in the country since civil war erupted two decades ago - are the first to target the deep areas of the rift basins and will be critical to unlocking the hydrocarbon potential of this unexplored prospective trend.

Drilling at Shabeel-1 - which had a pre-drill prospective resource estimate of 300 million barrels - has now been completed, with attentions shifting to Shabeel-2.The first well reached a total depth of 3,470 metres and has been suspended for future testing. The well identified a 12 to 20 metre zone of "significant hydrocarbon pay" in the Upper Cretaceous Jesomma Formation, plus additional potential net pay sands in the Jurassic Adigrat Formation at a depth of 3,246 to 3,430 metres, with oil and gas shows.

"The Shabeel well has confirmed the presence of an active petroleum system in the Dharoor Valley," said Horn Petroleum's chief executive David Grellman. "We are highly encouraged with these early results which indicate oil bearing sands in possibly two zones. These results provide excellent implications for the overall prospectivity of the basin. We look forward to drilling the Shabeel North well and to testing the Jesomma sands to confirm this potential."

The rig is now being moved to the Shabeel-2 location which is 3.5 km north of the first drill site. The primary objective of this well will be to evaluate the Upper Cretaceous Jesomma Sands which appear to be oil bearing at the Shabeel location. Afterwards, the company intends to return to the Shabeel-1 site well for testing work. The plan is to drill deeper to evaluate the primary and secondary reservoir targets in the Lower Cretaceous and Jurassic intervals equivalent to the main productive section seen in the analogous fields in Yemen.

Shabeel - and the follow up Shabeel North prospects - are both located on a Jurassic aged rift system, which is part of the same system that has proved highly productive in Yemen's Masila and Shabwa Basins that contain an estimated 6 billion barrels of oil. Whatever the outcome at Shabeel, the start of drilling in the Dharoor Valley block is a major milestone for the Canadian junior and its Aussie partners, and the evaluation of the oil potential of Northern Somalia.

It is a triumph to start drilling after such an unsettled time in the area. Horn Petroleum has said it has received strong support from the Puntland regional government and local communities, all keen to see development return to the area after prolonged periods of internal strife.

Oil exploration firm headed to Nyakach next

      Updated Tuesday, May 22 2012 at 22:00 GMT+3
      By Evelyn Kwamboka

Tullow Oil Plc is now set to move to Nyakach in Kisumu County barely six months after discovering oil in Turkana.

Officials from the company were recently in Nyakach, an area they suspect has massive oil deposits, to start exploring the commodity.

Sources told The Standard that the company intends to carry out drilling tests in the area before the end of the year.

Area District Commissioner Chagawa wa Chagawa confirmed on Tuesday on receiving officials from the company, saying the Government was also doing a geographical mapping in parts of the district.

“Tullow officials will be here in a month’s time to do one to two things,” he said.

Area MP Polyns Ochieng said locals must be involved before the company starts its full operations in the area. He said Nyakach is one of the areas geographically listed under Block 13T. He said residents of Nyalunga and Bolo villages have for the last few months been getting oil floating in water.

Also doch Family and Friends (vielleicht auch aus Mama Africa??)
