West African Minerals Corporation (formerly Emerging Metals Limited) is focused on investing in natural resources companies and/or physical resource assets. The Company recently acquired 100% interest in Ferrum Resources Limited, a company which has built a portfolio of iron ore assets in Africa. The Directors intend to take an active role in the management of such investments and estimate that they will be held for periods of up to five years.
The Company is seeking to acquire interests in natural resources projects (including but not limited to all metals, minerals and hydrocarbon projects) or physical resource assets on a worldwide basis. Projects may include (without limit) exploration permits and licences, processing plants, mines or oil and gas fields, which may be achieved through acquisitions, partnerships or joint venture arrangements. Such investments may result in the Company acquiring the whole or part of a company or project, and may include the Company taking strategic equity stakes in both public and private companies.
The Company’s investments may take the form of equity, debt, convertible instruments, licence rights, options or other financial instruments as the Directors deem appropriate. Forward transactions and derivatives (including puts and call options on individual positions or physical resource assets) may be used to gain exposure to resources or the securities of companies falling within the Company’s investment policy or to seek to generate income from the Company’s position in such resources or companies, as well as for efficient portfolio management. The Company may hedge exposure to foreign currencies if considered appropriate for efficient portfolio management. The Company would not however contemplate investments or acquisitions that carry a high degree of contingent risk or liability that is capable of imposing financial obligations upon the Company that it could not reasonably expect to meet.
The Directors believe that their broad collective experience in the areas of acquisitions, accounting, corporate and financial management together with the opinion of consultant experts in the evaluation and exploitation of natural resources projects who will assist them in the identification and evaluation of suitable opportunities, will enable the Company to achieve its strategic objective.

Cameroon
West African Minerals, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ferrum Resources Limited (“Ferrum”), holds an indirect 60.35% interest in six permits for the exclusive rights to explore for iron ore and associated minerals in areas referred to as Dja, Djadom, Lélé, Binga, Minko and Sanaga in Cameroon covering a total area of approximately 6,000 square kilometres (the “CMC Permits”). All the permit areas lie nearby either existing railway lines or a proposed railway line from Mbalam to Kribi.
The CMC Permits are held by Compagnie Minière du Cameroon SA, which is 95% owned by CMC Guernsey Limited, a 63.53% owned subsidiary of Ferrum. Ferrum has four joint venture partners in CMC Guernsey Limited: Deltec Bank & Trust Limited (2.35%), Generation Resources Limited (9.41%), Generation Resources Holdings Limited (10%) and Plinian Guernsey Limited (14.71%). Plinian Capital Limited is the managing operator of CMC Guernsey Limited. The principals of Plinian include Mr. Bradford Mills, who was the former CEO of Lonmin plc and has over thirty years of experience in the resource industry and Mr. Anton Mauve, who is a qualified geologist with over twenty years of experience in the resource industry.
The iron ore deposits of southern Cameroon, northern Congo and northern Gabon together form part of the Congo Craton Iron Province, an emerging iron ore target that is being explored in all three countries. The CMC Permits are situated in southeastern and southwestern Cameroon, on the northern edge of the Congo Craton. Those in the southeast are relatively close to, or abut, properties held by Sundance Resources and Afferro Mining and appear from published maps to be underlain by broadly similar geology. Local geologists have so far visited only the Dja, Djadom and the easternmost part of the Sanaga permit areas. Their activities were limited to assessing access to the properties and collecting six grab samples from the Sanaga licence, which yielded results between 14% and 54% Fe (magnetite-BIF).
The contiguous Dja and Djadom permit areas lie to the east and north of Sundance Resources’ Mbalam project, which has an Inferred and Indicated Resource of high-grade haematite of 521.7 million tonnes at 60.7% Fe. Historical aeromagnetic data indicate a continuation of the total magnetic intensity signature eastwards from the Mbalam project into the Dja and Djadom licences.
The Lélé permit area lies to the west of Mbalam and similarities exist with the geology of Afferro Mining’s nearby Nkout project, which has an Inferred and Indicated Resource of 2 billion tonnes at 32.15% Fe. The Sanaga permit area lies at the edge of the craton in Late Archaean/Palaeoproterozoic greenstone belts and is largely fault-bounded. Mapped occurrences of magnetite-bearing quartzites are shown to be similar to the geological configuration at Legend Mining’s Ngovayang project.
The planned work programme for the CMC Permits includes desktop assessments, aeromagnetic surveys, geophysical and geological mapping and a two phase drilling programme. Exploration will focus on the identification and delineation of haematite-rich direct shipping ore (DSO”). The current proposed exploration programme has been fully funded from the proceeds of a private placement undertaken by CMC Guernsey in July 2011.
Sierra Leone
West African Minerals, through its wholly owned subsidiary Ferrum Resources Limited (“Ferrum”), holds an indirect 75% interest in five exploration licences for the exclusive right to explore for all minerals over a total area of approximately 687 square kilometres in Sierra Leone (the “Sierra Leone Licences”). The Sierra Leone Licences are held by wholly-owned subsidiaries of Ferrous Africa Limited, in which Ferrum holds a 100% interest. Ferrous Africa Limited holds a 25% interest in each of the Sierra Leone Licences in trust for Sierra Resources Ltd to be effected upon completion of a definitive feasibility study on the respective Sierra Leone Licence. The operator of the Sierra Leone Licences is Ferrum.
The four tenements located in the north of the country are underlain by Archaean greenstone belt with potential for iron, gold and possible base metal mineralisation. The remaining concession, which is situated in the south of Sierra Leone, occurs in a region postulated to be prospective for gold. Three of the northernmost Sierra Leone Licences are adjacent to or on strike of the Kukuna project. Cape Lambert Resources Limited recently increased its shareholding in the Kukuna project from 47.4 per cent. to 100 per cent. for approximately US$80 million. The Kukuna project is a haematite deposit in Marampa Group schists with an exploration target of 1 to 2 billion tonnes at 30 to 40% Fe.
The fourth Sierra Leone Licence in the north occurs on strike of the Marampa project of Cape Lambert, a brownfields exploration project located near the historic Marampa mine. The Marampa project has a total Mineral Resource of 680 million tonnes averaging 28.2% Fe.
Ferrum recently completed an airborne magnetic and gamma spectrometric survey over the Sierra Leone Licences. The magnetic and radiometric data has generated geological and structural interpretation maps and defined specific target areas of interest within the licences for ground geophysics and drilling follow-up. A priority target within one of the northern licences is a strong magnetic unit under a cover of 70 metres. Additional 20 magnetic targets are identified for follow-up, with several possible kimberlite or carbonatite pipes. Initial geological mapping and field traversing work has been completed on the licences.
The Sierra Leone Licences are located in geological terrains prospective particularly for iron ore, gold and base metal mineralisation. The proximity to neighbouring iron ore projects is encouraging as are the results of the geophysical survey which identified specific magnetite targets. The proposed exploration programme includes geological mapping, ground geophysics, trenching and geochemistry analysis.

Könnte eventuell irgendwann mal interessant werden, aber wär mir aktuell nix.
Vor allem beim Eisen gibt es so eine riiiiiesen Auswahl an Explorer/Developern, da würde ich mir was konkreteres suchen.

Interpretation of Aeromagnetic Results
West African Minerals Corporation (AIM: WAFM), the iron ore exploration company with interests in Cameroon and Sierra Leone, is pleased to report that it has received independent interpretation of the results of its detailed, high resolution, aeromagnetic survey conducted on its six exploration properties in Cameroon. The aeromagnetic survey represented Phase One of the Company’s exploration programme in Cameroon. WAFM, through its 95 per cent. owned subsidiary Compagnie Minière du Cameroun SA, owns six exploration permits granting the exclusive rights to explore for iron ore and associated minerals in areas referred to as Djadom, Dja, Lélé, Minko, Sanaga and Binga in Cameroon covering a total area of approximately 6,000 square kilometres.
As announced by the Company on 16 March 2012 the aeromagnetic survey was targeting potentially high tonnage, 60-65% Fe content, hematite-rich mineralisation, that is regionally known to occur as a cap overlying, and derived from weathering and oxidation of, underlying banded iron formations (BIF).
The helicopter-borne aeromagnetic survey, which completed 27,000 line kilometres, was carried out by South African company New Resolution Geophysics, and the results have been interpreted by The MSA Group (“MSA”), the exploration and mining consultants retained by the Company, lead by Dr Brendan Clarke, the Geological Operations Manager of The MSA Group and associate consultant Dr Ian Basson.
MSA’s geophysical interpretation of the data has identified 30 discrete demagnetised zones overlying magnetite-enriched bedrock which are considered by our geophysical team to represent potential DSO targets. Importantly, 10 of these targets are on the near coastal concessions of Binga and Minko, close to a planned deep water port at Kribi, reducing significantly the time to, and cost of, processing and production of high grade iron.
The remaining 20 potential DSO targets are located on the Company’s south-eastern permits. Seven of these anomalies have geophysical signatures similar to that of the Mbarga Deposit on the adjacent Mbalam exploration permit held by Sundance Resources.
Two of the largest anomalies on the Djadom and Lele concessions are interpreted as being demagnetised, and therefore potentially hematite-rich areas, overlying the hinge zones of large banded iron formations.
Following receipt of the interpretation results the Board of WAFM has approved Phase Two of the exploration programme in Cameroon. In particular the Directors have approved 20,000 metres of RAB drilling over six months to test for the presence of DSO. The Phase Two programme will include approximately 400 fifty metre holes, targeting DSO material overlying magnetite BIF bedrock. The results of this drilling will, if positive, drive infill and resource definition drilling programmes on the most prospective targets.

In addition, the Company is pleased to report that it has received correspondence from Mr Emmanuel Bonde, the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technological Development and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technological Development confirming the Republic of Cameroon’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure to support all mining in the country, and ensuring the Company will have access to the infrastructure on equal terms, including the proposed harbour and railway infrastructure, once completed. Copies of the letters are available on the Company’s website at www.westafricanminerals.com. Previous news, reports, commentary and announcements on the proposed development of infrastructure in Cameroon had suggested infrastructure projects would be developed by private groups, potentially excluding some operators from access.

On 25 April 2012 the Company announced positive results of its recent aeromagnetic survey on the Cameroon properties and is proceeding with Phase Two of its exploration programme comprising approximately 400 fifty metre holes (20,000 metres in total) to target direct shipping ore (DSO) material overlying magnetite banded iron formation (BIF) bedrock.
Stephen Dattels, CEO and Executive Co-Chairman of WAFM, commented:
“We are delighted to have reached agreement to acquire the minority interest in Cameroon. The acquisition results in the project being 100% owned by West African Minerals with full operational control of this major asset. Given the recent positive results from the aeromagnetic survey we believe this is in the best interests of all shareholders.”
On completion of the Acquisition WAFM will issue to the vendors a total of 18.5 million new ordinary shares in the Company (“Ordinary Shares”) representing approximately 6.7 per cent. of the enlarged share capital (the “Consideration Shares”). Based on the closing price of an Ordinary Share traded on AIM on 21 May 2012 of 54.75 pence, the Consideration Shares are valued at approximately £10,128,750.
Completion of the Acquisition is expected to occur within 10 days and is subject to all regulatory requirements being fulfilled. The Consideration Shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares and application will be made for the Consideration Shares to be admitted to trading on AIM which is expected to occur on or about 31 May 2012.
The principal vendor of the Minority Interest is Colosseum Holdings Limited, a company in which Mr Gualtiero Giori is indirectly interested. Mr Giori, a founder of CMC Cameroon, is a non-executive director of WAFM. As a result, the Acquisition is a related party transaction under the AIM Rules.
As a director of the Company Mr Giori is subject to a lock-in pursuant to which he has agreed not to dispose of his interests in Ordinary Shares before 9 January 2013 (being the period of the lock-in for all Directors following the readmission of the Ordinary Shares to trading on AIM on 9 January 2012).
In view of the significance of the Acquisition which provides full ownership and operational control of the Company’s major asset in Cameroon, the Independent Directors (being the Board excluding Mr Giori) consider, having consulted with Beaumont Cornish Limited, the Company's Nominated Adviser, that the terms of the Acquisition are fair and reasonable insofar as the Company’s shareholders are concerned.
As at 30 September 2011 CMC Cameroon’s total assets and net liabilities amounted to US$95,639 and US$177,218 respectively. In the six months ended 30 September 2011 CMC Cameroon made a loss before tax of US$99,533.
Following the issue of the 18,500,000 new Ordinary Shares, there will be a total of 277,449,579 Ordinary Shares of no par value in issue with voting rights. The Company does not hold any Ordinary Shares in Treasury. Therefore the total number of Ordinary Shares in the Company with voting rights will be 277,449,579 and this number should be used by shareholders in the Company as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the share capital of the Company under the Financial Service Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
West African Minerals Corporation (AIM: WAFM), the iron ore exploration company with interests in Cameroon and Sierra Leone, is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement to acquire the 5% interest (the “Minority Interest”) not previously in its control in Compagnie Minière du Cameroun SA (“CMC Cameroon”) (the “Acquisition”). Naja ...... Mit 200.000 Stücken den Wert um 10 % gedrückt um dann mit ein paar größeren Paketen bei nur noch minus 5% geschlossen...da mach ich mir keine gedanken. Es war wie immer....sell on good news....bin im faßt hoch mit der hälfte raus und werde wieder einsteigen wenn sie noch etwas zurück kommt.Schau dir das Orderbuch in London an....dan lachst dich kaputt was da so vor sich geht.

Gravity survey indicates large scale anomalies on WAFM’s southeast Cameroon licenses
West African Minerals Corporation (AIM: WAFM) is pleased to report on the progress of the exploration and scout drilling programme over its large magnetic anomalies in south-eastern Cameroon. The programme is part of a Phase 2 scout drill programme comprising up to 500 holes (22,500 metres) aimed at verifying the iron ore targets identified by Phase 1 geophysical work.
In Phase 1, a 27,000 line km aeromagnetic survey completed in April 2012 identified WAFM’s Lélé and Djadom concessions as having significant large scale potential. These were interpreted as being demagnetised and therefore potentially hematite-rich areas, overlying the hinge zones of kilometre-scale folds in postulated Banded Iron Formations (BIF). A number of the anomalies bear geophysical signatures similar to other major DSO deposits in the region, including strong continuity of magnetic anomalies with the Mbarga resource eastwards onto WAFM’s Djadom permit.
In order to refine this magnetic work and better define targets, a 5,000 line km fixed wing airborne gravity gradiometry survey (Falcon ™) was flown over portions of the Djadom and Lélé iron ore exploration permits in November and December of 2012.
The interpretation of this gravity gradiometry survey, by independent consultants, has identified numerous density anomalies co-incident with the previously delineated aeromagnetic anomalies. The magnetic anomalies are interpreted as being regionally extensive BIF similar to those hosting the neighbouring Mbarga deposit, while areas of high density contrast identified in the gravity survey, which are co-incident or adjacent to the magnetic anomalies, are interpreted as being areas of potential hematite enrichment of the BIF. Prioritised targets, comprising dense, weakly to non-magnetic material at/near surface and in association with magnetic source material (i.e. BIF), will be preferentially targeted as part of the Company’s strategy to delineate deposits of hematite-rich direct shipping ore (DSO) derived from the oxidation of the primary BIF deposits.
To date, 52 reverse circulation percussion holes have been drilled in the southern part of the Djadom permit, as part of a widely-spaced scout drilling programme. Fourteen of the 52 holes have intersected significant BIF horizons, and of these 14 holes, five have intersected hematite-rich material either as cap material overlying a BIF protolith or as discrete horizons within a BIF package. Several of these hematite-rich intersections are located within the priority density targets defined by the gradiometry survey. Assay results for these intersections are expected over the next month.
The findings of the gravity survey have significantly enhanced the Company’s ability to prioritize and confidence to select drill targets. As a result, approximately 5,000 metres of drilling covering approximately 98 square kilometres of combined gravity and aeromagnetic anomalies in this area will be undertaken over the next two months.
The technical information contained in this announcement has been reviewed by Dr Brendan Clarke, the Geological Operations Manager of The MSA Group. Dr Brendan Clarke is a Member of the Geological Society of South Africa and a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. Dr Clarke has sufficient experience relevant to the style of mineralisation under consideration and to the activities which are being reported, to qualify as a Qualified Person for the purposes of this announcement.
