Behind the fracking boom, a sand mining rush
      http://www.wbez.org/news/behind-fracking-boom-sand-mining-ru…

      >>> Demand has skyrocketed. The demand for silica sand suddenly shot through the roof with the growth of the fracking industry in the late 2000s. In 2011, U.S. silica consumption was over 26 million tons; in 2012, the U.S. Geological Survey reported it had nearly doubled to over 45 million tons. Prices spiked for a couple years, although now companies in Illinois and Wisconsin report the pricing has leveled out as supply begins to meet demand. The owner of Mississippi Sand, LLC says his sand will sell for $100-$150 per ton, including transportation.

Victory Silica Ltd., a Subsidiary of Victory Nickel Inc., Hires Frac Sand Marketing Executive

      http://uk.advfn.com/news/MWUS/2013/article/58702798

Victory Silica is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. In Phase 1, Victory Silica plans to begin sales of premium quality Midwest frac sand from its plant in Seven Persons, Alta. near Medicine Hat (the "7P Plant") prior to the end of 2013 by shipping partially-processed sand purchased in Wisconsin to the 7P Plant for final processing and distribution. The 7P Plant is well located in an area populated with fracking companies, its potential customers, and is within only a few hours' trucking distance of major oil play well sites.

Phase 2, which includes the construction of a concentrator in Wisconsin, will reduce costs and assure security of sand supply through the control of a frac sand mine in Wisconsin. In Phase 3, Victory Silica has identified a site in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where it plans to build a larger frac sand plant to process and distribute both imported and domestic sands, including sand mined as a co-product of development of a nickel mine at the Company's 100%-owned Minago project in Manitoba. With margins expected to be in excess of $25 per ton of frac sand sold, Victory Silica should generate sufficient cash flow in Phases 1 and 2 to provide the financial flexibility to expand its activities by developing a second plant as Phase 3 of its growth plan.

Effective September 30, 2013, Rene Galipeau will step down as the Company's Chief Executive Officer. Coincident with this, Paul Jones will be named CEO and Sean Stokes will become Executive Vice-President. These changes will allow Mr. Galipeau to focus on his roles as Vice-Chairman, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Victory Nickel Inc., in which Nuinsco has a significant financial interest, as Victory Nickel advances its entry into the frac sand business.

Victory Nickel Subsidiary Victory Silica Progressing Toward Frac Sand Production
      http://uk.advfn.com/news/MKTW/2013/article/59543882

ictory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced
that it has signed an agreement with Seven Rivers Inter-Modal Terminal, LLC for
the transloading from truck to rail of frac sand concentrate produced in
Wisconsin for transport to, and final processing at, its Seven Persons frac sand
plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta.

"The transload agreement represents the first of numerous contracts that are
currently being finalized by Victory Nickel and its frac sand marketing
subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. ("VSL")," said Rene Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and
CEO of Victory Nickel. "We expect to be able to announce the completion of
several more contracts and the achievement of numerous milestones over the next
      several weeks."

Activities at the Seven Persons plant have focused on site remediation,
preparation for the installation of upgrades to the frac sand plant, design and
manufacturing of required infrastructure and equipment and the hiring of key
      management and operations personnel.

"Activities at the Seven Persons site are moving forward in preparation for the
start of frac sand processing this year," said Ken Murdock, VSL's CEO. "Sales
and marketing personnel are actively engaging potential customers in preparation
for first frac sand sales and we are well down the road toward achieving our
goal of producing frac sand in 2013."

      About Frac Sand

Frac sand is a proppant used in the oil and gas business as a part of the
hydraulic fracturing process - a means of increasing flow to the wellhead. Frac
sand must have particular characteristics including achieving certain levels of
crush resistance, sphericity and roundness, and it is therefore a relatively
rare commodity. Vast quantities of frac sand are consumed, and more is needed
all the time, as shale gas plays in Canada and the US rise to prominence.

Victory Nickel Inc., a mining and frack sand supplier with several operations in Canada, is also expanding in the area. The company recently announced it has received approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator to develop a 400,000-ton-per-year frack sand processing facility southwest of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, known as the 7P facility.

“The AER approval has huge implications for Victory Silica Ltd.’s plan to begin marketing frack sand in 2013,” said Rene Galipeau, vice chairman and CEO of the company. “We will now begin the reclamation work and the upgrades at the 7P plant,” he added. “Producing frack sand from the 7P facility is the first step in VSL’s three-phased plan to establish Victory Nickel as a premier frack sand supplier to northern markets.”

Victory Nickel Provides Update on Frac Sand Plant Development
      http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20131104-908839.html?dsk…

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 4, 2013) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced that it has finished the required site remediation at its Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta. The completion of the final remediation report which has been submitted to the Alberta Energy Regulator paves the way for installation of the upgrades required to convert the 7P Plant to a 400,000 ton per annum frac sand production facility.

Several changes have recently been incorporated into the 7P Plant design to reduce operating costs and allow the Company's subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd. ("VSL"), to produce the highest quality import and domestic frac sand. These improvements, along with unavoidable delays in completing the site remediation, will result in frac sand production beginning early in the first quarter of 2014 rather than prior to the end of 2013 as previously expected.

"While we have experienced some delays in developing the 7P Plant we won't be far off our target for first production and will have a more efficient plant, lower costs and a top-quality frac sand product at the end of the day," said Ken Murdock, VSL's CEO.

In addition to the on-site activities, all equipment has been sourced and is on order. Numerous contracts have been negotiated and are being documented, including agreements on the terms for the purchase of and for the washing and concentrating of Jordan Formation frac sand in Wisconsin. A rail contract and credit facility has been signed with Canadian Pacific ("CP") for the shipping of concentrated sand from Wisconsin for finishing at the 7P Plant, as has an agreement to provide access for private cars on the CP rail line. Several options for rail car leasing are being evaluated, and an agreement is expected to be signed in the very near future.

"There are many facets to consider and deal with before we can begin frac sand production at the 7P Plant but all are very advanced and I can see everything falling into place. Our new Vice-President of Marketing has been very busy meeting with potential customers and is getting good feedback and response," said René Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Victory Nickel. "Numerous milestones have been achieved and the to-do list is getting shorter; the ultimate milestone is to generate cash flow from frac sand sales beginning early in 2014."

      CEO
      Victory Silica

Kenneth (Ken) Murdock received an B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1984 and an M.Eng in Environmental Engineering from McGill University in 1996. After six year as a cement and concrete product specialist/researcher in eastern Canada, (1986-93), Ken came west to head an alternative raw materials program in Western Canada and the Pacific North West. While searching for co-processing opportunities where industrial mineral based waste streams were consumed in the manufacturing of cement (i.e. spent foundry sand, and catalyst), he was introduced to industrial sands.

In 1996, Ken helped create the first domestic supplier of frac sand in Western Canada. After the 750,000 tonne per annum Peace River, Alberta project he had the opportunity to design and build the first dedicated frac sand recycling operation in Alberta. With plant design and permitting experience he has designed, operated and permitted a number of oil field waste facilities in Alberta. Ken also consulted on the preparation of bankable feasibility studies, the design, operation and permitting of frac sand plants throughout Western Canada and Wisconsin.

With the Victory Silica project Ken has the opportunity to participate in the design and operation of the innovative frac sand production and logistic group. What sets this project apart is that the highest quality Midwestern white and domestic sands are finally processed within trucking distance of the well to retain the quality of the products at the well head.
Ken is married to Laura (1986) and they have two adult children still at university.

Demand for sand spurs oceanfront controversies
      http://www.tradeonlytoday.com/2013/12/demand-sand-spurs-ocea…

Sand is becoming New England coast dwellers’ most coveted and controversial commodity as they try to battle rising seas and severe erosion caused by recent storms, often at the expense of taxpayers.

It’s called the sand wars,’’ S. Jeffress Williams, a coastal geologist and scientist emeritus with the U.S. Geological Survey in Woods Hole, Mass., and the University of Hawaii, told the Boston Globe in an in-depth report published this month.

The disputes happening across the coastal United States “are only going to get more intense,” Williams told the Globe

First Train Load of Sand Arrives for Processing at Victory Nickel's Seven Persons Plant

Frac sand dry plant commissioning to start this week

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb 10, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced that the first nine-railcar shipment of washed, concentrated sand from Winona, MN has arrived, been unloaded and moved to the Company's Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta for initial plant commissioning. Two additional railcar lots are in transit to Alberta and the Company expects it will soon be in a continuous-supply mode with delivered tonnages of sand increasing as full production is achieved at the 500,000 ton-per-year 7P Plant.

"This is what we have all been working so hard towards," said Ken Murdock, Victory Silica's CEO. "The 7P Plant will be commissioned this week. The Company is building inventories of both wet concentrated sand and finished product at the 7P Plant to ensure availability of premium-quality Wisconsin frac sand to meet customer needs. The 22,000 tons of dry storage capacity at the 7P plant ensures that we will have premium-quality frac sand available where our customers want it when they need it."

Victory Nickel's Commissioning of Seven Persons Frac Sand Plant Underway, Rail deliveries of Wisconsin sand concentrate continue to arrive in Alberta - Mar 19, 2014
      www.marketwired.com/press-release/victory-nickels-commission…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 19, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced that commissioning of the Company's Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta is underway.

The 7P Plant has approximately 22,000 tons of dry sand storage capacity, and the inventory build-up of premium-quality midwestern white frac sand is ongoing. In addition, shipments of washed, concentrated sand from the transload facility in Winona, MN continue to arrive at the 7P Plant for processing.

"We have now achieved the milestones of:

      - Receiving sign-off from the Alberta Energy Regulator on the remediation work that was done to enable the 7P Plant site to operate as frac sand processing facility;

      - completing all sand supply, equipment, and transportation agreements;

      - acquisition of the Seven Persons site and construction and start-up of a 500,000 ton-per-year dry frac sand processing facility;

      - receiving and unloading of sand concentrate mined from the Jordan Formation in Wisconsin, USA; and,

      - processing finished frac sand at the 7P Plant," said Ken Murdock, CEO of Victory Silica, Victory Nickel's wholly-owned frac sand-focused subsidiary. "Our next goal is to build sufficient inventories of 16/30, 20/40, 30/50 and 40/70 frac sand to begin sales into Manitoba, Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and North Dakota and then build the business from there."

      About Frac Sand

Frac sand is a proppant used in the oil and gas business as a part of the hydraulic fracturing process - a means of increasing flow to the wellhead. Frac sand must have particular characteristics including achieving certain levels of crush resistance, sphericity and roundness, and it is therefore a relatively rare commodity. Vast quantities of frac sand are consumed, and more is needed all the time, as shale gas and oil plays in Canada and the US rise to prominence.

      About Victory Silica Ltd.

Victory Silica is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company and is charged with a phased plan to establish the Company in the frac sand market. In Phase 1, the Company plans to begin sales in 2014 of premium quality midwestern white frac sand from the 7P Plant in Seven Persons, Alberta near Medicine Hat by shipping partially-processed sand purchased in Wisconsin to the 7P Plant for final processing and distribution. The 7P Plant is well located in an area populated with fracking companies, its potential customers, and is within only a few hours' trucking distance of major oil or gas play well sites. With margins expected to be in excess of $25 per ton of frac sand sold, the Company should generate sufficient cash flow in Phases 1 and 2 to provide the financial flexibility to expand its activities by developing a second plant as Phase 3 of its growth plan.

      About Victory Nickel

Victory Nickel Inc. is a Canadian company with four sulphide nickel deposits containing significant NI 43-101-compliant nickel resources and a significant frac sand resource at its Minago project. Victory Nickel is focused on becoming a mid-tier nickel producer by developing its existing properties, Minago, Mel and Lynn Lake in Manitoba, and Lac Rocher in northwestern Québec, and by evaluating opportunities to expand its nickel asset base. Through a wholly-owned subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd., Victory Nickel is establishing a presence in the frac sand market prior to commencing frac sand production and sales from Minago.

Victory Nickel Provides Update on Commissioning of Seven Persons Frac Sand Plant, Ramp-up to full capacity expected by mid-year - Mar 21, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/c3/c3699aa4-8604-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 21, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today provided an update on the commissioning process that is currently underway at its 500,000 ton-per-year (TPY) Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Further to the Company's news release of March 19, commissioning of the 7P Plant is progressing well. The commissioning process involves introducing washed premium-quality Jordan Formation sand from inventory stored at the 7P Plant into the newly-built drying and screening facility in order to perform the necessary tests and inspections to ensure that the 7P Plant is operating at specified performance levels. The 7P Plant is currently producing at an annualized rate of 182,000 tons; the ramp-up to full production at an annualized rate of 500,000 is expected to be complete by mid-year as additional staff is hired to operate the 7P Plant on a seven-day-per-week, 20-hour-per-day basis.

"Plant throughput is steadily increasing as we work through any minor equipment debugging issues, and thus far results have met our expectations," said Victory Silica CEO Ken Murdock. "Not only does the commissioning process enable us to optimize operation of the plant, but also allows us to build finished-sand inventory in advance of sales to ensure the availability of finished 16/30, 20/40, 30/50 and 40/70 frac sand to our customers."

Quartal einfahren? Wieviel davon muss man an NWI abgeben?

Victory Nickel negotiates first sale of 7P frac sand

      2014-03-24 13:48 ET - News Release

      Mr. Rene Galipeau reports

VICTORY NICKEL ANNOUNCES FIRST FRAC SAND SALES FROM SEVEN PERSONS PLANT SALES AND INVENTORY EXPECTED TO RAMP UP IN COMING MONTHS

Victory Nickel Inc. has started sales of frac sand produced at its Seven Persons (7P) frac sand plant near Medicine Hat, Alta. Sand produced during commissioning is being sold and delivered on a spot basis and the Company's first supply agreement is being negotiated.

The 7P Plant is a 500,000 ton-per-year dry frac sand processing facility built by the Company during 2013/2014. Situated in an ideal location to consistently supply the highest quality Midwestern white frac sand to customers in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Dakota, the 7P Plant has 22,000 tons of dry sand storage capacity. The 7P Plant's capacity, inventory and location will ensure timely availability of commercial quantities of the highest quality 16/30, 20/40, 30/50 and 40/70 premium Midwestern white frac sand when and where customers need it.

"We're very pleased to announce that 7P Plant construction is now complete," said Ken Murdock, CEO of the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Limited. "Commissioning is proceeding well and the Company is now delivering sand made during the commissioning stage. Our marketing team is actively engaging potential customers throughout western Canada and in North Dakota and the outlook is very optimistic as we build the required frac sand inventories."

"This is a very exciting time for Victory Nickel and Victory Silica," said Rene Galipeau, Victory Nickel's CEO. "It has taken a lot of effort to achieve this milestone and I commend the entire team for getting us to where we are today. It's important to remember that this is only the first step in our three-phased plan to enter the frac sand market. With Phase 1 construction now complete, the immediate goals are to optimize 7P Plant performance, expand sales and marketing activities and continue to implement Phases 2 and 3. The goal of Phase 2 is to enhance the Company's ownership of frac sand resources, strengthen quality-control capability in Wisconsin and reduce operating costs. Phase 3 is designed to improve market reach by increasing frac sand production and sales capacity."

Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) and Nuinsco
Resources Limited ("Nuinsco") (TSX:NWI) today jointly announced that Nuinsco has
opted to convert its outstanding loan to Victory Nickel (the "Loan") into a
participating interest in net cash flows from Victory Nickel's frac sand
business. Victory Nickel recently completed the construction of a 500,000 ton
per annum frac sand processing facility in Seven Persons, Alberta (the "7P
Plant"). Nuinsco has also relinquished its security interest over the assets of
      Victory Nickel.

Under the terms of the loan agreement (see news release of March 26, 2013),
Nuinsco has the right to convert the outstanding balance of the Loan into a
participating interest (the "Conversion") whereby Nuinsco is entitled to receive
a share of net cash flows earned from Victory Nickel's frac sand business.
Nuinsco's participation is capped at $7,667,124 provided Victory Nickel
completes Phase 2 of its three- phase business plan, otherwise Nuinsco is
entitled to a maximum of $10,222,831. Victory Nickel will recover its capital
investment in the 7P Plant and working capital prior to being required to share
cash flow with Nuinsco. As a result of the Conversion, the outstanding amount of
the Loan is considered paid in full.

"Conversion of this loan is an indication of Nuinsco's confidence in our
business plan and now leaves Victory Nickel with no secured debt," said Victory
Nickel's CEO Rene Galipeau. "Victory Nickel and its subsidiary Victory Silica
Ltd. ("Victory Silica") have now implemented Phase 1 of a three-phased plan with
the objective of producing in excess of 1,500,000 tons of premium-quality frac
sand per year in Canada. Frac sand sales have begun and we are in the process of
building inventory of finished frac sand at the 7P Plant where we have 22,000
tons of dry storage capacity. We are now working with our Wisconsin-based
partner to implement Phase 2 which is designed to enhance margins and increase
security of supply and quality control."

"The Loan has had a very positive impact on both companies. It has allowed
Victory Nickel to enter the frac sand business and begin generating cash flow by
financing construction of the 500,000 ton per year 7P Plant and the Conversion
provides Nuinsco with a potential cash flow stream to fund its exploration
activities while minimizing the Company's reliance on uncertain equity markets,"
said Nuinsco's Chief Executive Officer Paul Jones. "In addition, Nuinsco's
shareholdings of Victory Nickel, which increased significantly last year when
the Company backstopped Victory Nickel's rights offering to an amount of
$1,207,584 at a cost of $0.024 per unit, offer upside potential from both the
success of the frac sand operation as well as from the value of the Minago
Nickel project and Victory Nickel's other properties in a rising nickel price
      environment."

      About Victory Silica Ltd.

Victory Silica Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company and is charged with a phased plan to establish the Company in the frac sand market. In Phase 1, the Company has begun processing sand imported from Wisconsin at the 7P Plant and selling the processed frac sand to customers on a spot basis. The 7P Plant is well located in an area populated with fracking companies, its potential customers, and is within only a few hours' trucking distance of major oil or gas play well sites. Phase 2, which includes the construction of a concentrator in Wisconsin, is expected to reduce costs and assure security of sand supply through the control of a frac sand mine in Wisconsin. In Phase 3, the Company intends to construct a larger frac sand plant to process and distribute both imported and domestic sand, which may potentially, but not necessarily, include sand mined as a co-product of development at the Company's Minago project. The Company has already identified a site in Winnipeg, Manitoba for this purpose.

Victory Nickel has the frac sand plan TE
      2014-05-30
Victory Nickel (TSX: NI) didn’t set out to be part of the premium frac sand business. The company was created in 2006 out of three nickel assets spun out by Nuinsco Resources (TSX: NWI) — the key of the three being the Minago project in Manitoba.

“As we were drilling it off we pulled the holes and discovered sand,” Victory’s VP of corporate affairs Sean Stokes explains. “We thought it was waste until one of our geologists suggested we get it tested to see if it could be used as frac sand.”
That geologist was Jim Chornoby, who still serves as Victory’s lead consulting geologist. Chornoby was familiar with the material from his days doing studies for the province of Manitoba on the potential for frac sand discoveries in the province. Back in 2007 and 2008, when the discovery was made, frac stand was still an up-coming market, but just a few short years later Victory’s management was convinced enough of the sands economic potential that it included a study of Minago’s sandstone in its studies. Its motivation to do so did also have something to do with the fact that Minago’s considerable sulphide nickel deposit had much overburden to cut through before it was arrived at. To reach that nickel one has to cut through roughly 50 metres of limestone overburden, and after that another nine metres of sandstone overburden. The costs of doing so, however, drop considerably when the sandstone layer is recognized as not a burden but as a source of valuable fracking sand. “The economics of the nickel on its own is okay and the economics of the frac sand on its own is okay,” Stokes says. “But when the two are combined it generates a nice rate of return.” But that doesn’t mean it was an easy sell to the market. Part of the problem was that usual nickel investors didn’t understand what frac sand was, so the company brought in Ken Murdoch to not only help explain it, but to drive the frac sand part of the business to a point where its economics would be self evident. Murdock, who now serves as the CEO of Victory Silica a subsidiary of Victory Nickel, has 25 years experience in the frac sand and cement industries, having permitted, designed and built a number of frac sand facilities in the U.S. and Canada. He was already familiar with Minago when Victory called and was impressed by the15 million tonnes of sandstone it held which could translate into roughly 12 million tonnes of frac sand. Murdock brought another advantage as well. He knew about a plant in Medicine Hat Alberta, known as the Seven Persons Plant (7P), that could take Victory’s interest in frac sand to the next level. Murdock had been part of the team that built that plant, which was designed to process what is known as ‘blow back sand’ — sand that has been contaminated by usage in oil wells and has to be cleaned and reprocessed so that it can be used again. The plant was ill-fated, however, as the shallow gas drilling around Medicine Hat that was the source of the facilities demand, dried up forcing the plant went into receivership in 2010. Enter Victory. The company recently closed the purchase of the plant and had it re-permitted so that it could process high quality imported frac sand instead of blow back sand. Doing so means that while it awaits development of Minago the company gets to take advantage of a glaring hole in the Canadian market — its difficulty in securing high quality sand.

The best fracking sand comes from sandstone, but most of the deposits are in the U.S. and with that country going through a shale gas boom, there isn’t much of the good stuff left for the Canadian market. Minago has the good stuff as fracking sand from sandstone has a higher crush resistance and doesn’t have the acid solubility issues that go with lower quality sands. “Specific customers want imported sand all the time,” Murdoch explains. “Our model is to always have imported sand available to our customers.” So that it can only offer end-users this premium product Victory imports the sand from Wisconsin and processes it at the 7P plant — all the while generating the cash flows it can use to develop Minago. With 7P now up and running, the next phase of the plan involves Victory buying the Wisconsin frac sand mine and building a plant there which will also have the same 500, 000 tonne per annum capacity that 7P currently has. Phase three of the plan is to build a bigger frac sand plant in Winnipeg that will process sand from both Wisconsin and Minago.

The key to understanding Victory’s probability for success in executing such a plan is the intuition that the North American frac sand market peaked in 2009 at 40 million tonnes of production. Since then it has scaled back and now sits at 36 million tonnes. But with the recent boom in shale gas production demand could be set to increase dramatically. “Our customers are sitting on 50% of their horsepower, that’s horse power that is parked and ready to work,” Murdoch says. “The market could go to 60 million tonnes of demand in no time.” While U.S. investor are attuned to those fundamentals, as evidenced by U.S. Silica (NYSE: SLCA) and Hi Crush Partners (NYSE: HCLP) being two of the best performing resource stocks over the last 12-months, Canadian investors have been slower to warm to the story. “The U.S. equity market is more up to speed on the frac sand business,” Murdoch says. “It’s an educational process up here but it will come, we’re confident in the business model and we’re confident in what we are doing and in the market.” In Toronto on May 30 Victory Nickel’s shares were trading for 6.5¢ on 600,000 shares traded. -

Victory Nickel Announces Closing of Convertible Note Financing, Proceeds to be used for working capital +general corporate purposes - Jul 7, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/9e/9ee75893-a2cc-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 7, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) (www.victorynickel.ca) today announced that it has completed an offering of unsecured convertible promissory notes (the "Offering") having an aggregate principal amount of approximately US$5 million (each, a "Note") with a number of buyers (each, a "Lender").

The Company intends to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes and for working capital related to frac sand production managed by the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. ("Victory Silica"). Victory Silica is currently completing commissioning of the Company's Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Each Note matures on a date which is two years following the issue date and bears interest at a rate of 14.8% calculated monthly with quarterly cash payments. Each Lender has the option to convert all or a portion of the principal amount of their Note into common shares in the capital of the Company (each, a "Common Share") at any time during the term of such Note at a conversion price of CDN$0.10 per Common Share.

Combined with a previously-completed US$2 million convertible promissory note financing on the same terms as the Note (see news release of November 11, 2013) and a US$4 million secured line of credit financing (see news release of May 15, 2014), the Offering provides the Company with sufficient capital for Phase 1 of the Company's frac sand business plan.

"We continue to see rising customer demand in the Canadian market for premium-quality Wisconsin frac sand, and expect to sell all of the frac sand produced at our 7P Plant during 2014," said René Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and CEO.

Victory enters frac sand fray with Seven Persons plant Site visit

By: Matthew Keevil 2014-07-16 MEDICINE HAT, ALTA —

When it comes to open-pit mining, having more than 100 million tonnes of overburden sitting on top of your deposit is typically a situation best avoided, but for junior Victory Nickel (TSX: NI; US-OTC: VNCKF) that challenge turned into an opportunity. When the company’s geological staff took a closer look at the make-up of its shovel-ready Minago nickel sulphide project in Manitoba they found something not just interesting, but potentially economically significant: frac sand.

The discovery turned 140 million tonnes of overburden that lay between Victory and Minago’s sizeable nickel resources from a burden into a possible boon. And it led the company westward to a shuttered industrial complex outside of Medicine Hat, Alta., called the Seven Persons (7P) plant. “Back then the market for frac sand was always private, so there was really limited information available, but in 2012 a lot of companies started going public and we started to see these valuations,” explains CEO René Galipeau on a bus ride over a long stretch of highway outside of Medicine Hat.

“There was a mine called ‘Wind Bay’ in Saskatchewan that’s actually on the same formation as Minago that was bought by Preferred Sands for $200 million, and that really made our ears perk up.” And pulling into the 7P facility it’s evident how far Victory has come in just over two years.

The company made the decision to jump into the frac sand market in June 2012, and the air is already thick with dust from large-capacity haulage trucks rumbling through the yard en route to regional oil and gas wells.
Victory determined it couldn’t just leap into the frac sand market with Minago’s supply because it needed a key piece of the puzzle before it could develop its own sand deposits: a customer base. So the company turned to veteran environmental engineer Ken Murdock, who took up the reins as CEO of subsidiary Victory Silica and brought along a team with industry experience. “I think we’re sitting in a pretty good spot, because traditionally all the sand supply in the domestic Canadian market tends to flow to the U.S. We’re the only company I’m aware of that will always have processed import sand available for our customers,” Murdock says, standing outside of 7P’s large-scale storage facilities.

“We’ll have a full suite of products ranging from domestic sands for shell operations to import sands for the deeper stuff. We’ve targeted only the best sand we can find, and we’re aiming to bring it into this market place and maintain that quality at the well head via direct delivery,” he adds. Since Victory wasn’t ready to tap Minago for its supply, Murdock and his team struck a deal with a producer out of Wisconsin for high-quality washed concentrated sand. The shipments pull in via rail a little ways outside of 7P before being summarily dumped into trucks for transport to the company’s dry plant for processing. Victory spent just $4 million to take its plant capacity to 500,000 tonnes per year and nailed its first sales in early March.

“We were originally going to be targeting traditional oil plays, but there has been such a screw up with rail deliveries into Grand Prairie that we’ve been shipping regularly into Edmonton. We’ll be one of the first contract sand shipments into Grand Prairie on a regular basis,” Murdock adds. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Victory’s facility is the existing storage capacity. Once 7P is fully built out, the company will have around 22,000 tonnes of storage available to quickly meet on-site demand for frac sand. And as Murdock points out:

“The last thing you usually have money for at industrial mineral plants is storage.” And Victory’s investment looks to be coming together as it polishes off 7P’s commissioning. Reaching the heights of the dry plant via a spiralling, metallic staircase it’s possible to see the shimmer of corrugated steel storage houses against the endless prairie skyline, even as delivery trucks pull under milk-white silos to pick up the next shipment of sand. Galipeau adds that Victory expects to sell all the frac sand it runs through 7P during the year.

But current operations only mark the beginning of a grander strategy for Victory. The company’s next step is the vertical integration of its sand supply chain in Wisconsin wherein it will secure its own supply of wet sand for its dry processing facilities. Part of its agreement with its U.S.-based supplier is a fifty-fifty joint venture under which the company will pick up rights to high-quality sand deposits in Wisconsin. At the moment Victory estimates it will have a profit margin of around $25 per tonne, but assuming it can score its own supply of wet sand that number could jump as much as $10 per tonne. The company figures that four permitted properties it has access to could yield as much as 3.6 million tonnes of frac sand per parcel.

The strategy involves building a semi-portable wet plant with an estimated capital expenditure of around $4.4 million. Murdock says the company will be going after the “coarser material” in Wisconsin because that’s what the market is demanding. Since Victory will be high-grading its sand deposits it also won’t be creating as much of an environmental footprint compared to larger-scale frac sand operations in the state. “Traditionally you go in and tie up a couple thousand acres and make a big scar on the horizon, which is an issue in Wisconsin,” Murdock elaborates. “By escrowing in with a semi-mobile concentrator we can go into a smaller parcel and reclaim it right after mining before moving onto the next parcel.

We’ve got a small footprint so we’re not causing lot problems. The farmers like what we’re doing down there, and they’re not causing us a lot of grief in terms of permitting.” Assuming 7P sales go according to plan and the Wisconsin land package makes its way through the due diligence process,

Victory’s third phase will bring Murdock back to his roots. The company’s most ambitious development would involve a US$26.1 million processing facility in Winnipeg. The processing plant would occupy an old cement facility that boasts existing rail access from both CN Rail and CP Rail, and boost Victory’s annual sales capacity to 1 million tonnes of sand, while providing a long-term destination for Minago’s supply. “I started off with a cement company in Winnipeg,” Murdock adds. “The thing about a lot of frac sand mines and plants is that they’re stuck out in the middle of nowhere, so your talent pool and access to labour gets challenging. With the locations of our facilities we think we’ll have access to good-quality labour.

We’ll feed Winnipeg either with concentrate from Wisconsin or concentrate from Minago when it’s online.” On July 7 the company announced a convertible note financing worth US$5 million, wherein each note matures two years after its issue date and bears interest at a 14.8% rate calculated monthly, with quarterly cash payments. Combined with an earlier US$2-million convertible promissory note, the raise gives Victory enough capital for its first phase.

But Galipeau is quick to point out that investors should buy into Victory’s nickel story, with what he calls a “big call option” on the metal at Minago.

The project globally hosts 31 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 0.443% nickel for 302 million contained lb., with pit-constrained resources pegged at 26 million measured and indicated tonnes averaging 0.43% nickel for 244 million contained lb. When nickel dropped to US$6 per lb. Minago’s economics seemed weak, but with the metal’s recent resurgence back up to US$10 per lb., the project boasts a 17.7% internal rate of return and US$322-million net present value at an 8% discount rate.

Initially frac sand was considered a by-product, but now it’s classified as a co-product.

Victory’s operating costs at Minago drop by US$2.90 per lb. nickel due to the frac sand’s value, which brings overall costs down to US$2.20 per lb. “What we’re really trying to do is prove up the co-product value of the sand so we can get our nickel project funded.

The intent is not to use the cash flow from the sand to fund the nickel development, but to demonstrate value,” Galipeau explains, noting that the company could eventually spin out its frac sand business into another vehicle. “We funded our first phase for what it costs the average exploration company to complete a medium-sized drill program. If you look at Minago and expand the footprint onto our other permits, we could have a hundred years of sand without even thinking about it,” he says.

Victory shares gained 200% over the past eight months en route to a 7¢ close at press time. The company traded within a 52-week window of 2¢ to 9¢, and has 572 million shares outstanding for a $40-million market capitalization. Galipeau says that management has received shareholder approval for a 10-to-1 share consolidation. - See more at: http://www.northernminer.com/news/victory-enters-frac-sand-f…

      - What's the cause for Victory Nickel being a pennystock? Was there a specific economical failure in the past? Victory Nickel is a development-stage nickel company in what has been a difficult nickel market over the past few years. Despite having a nickel project permitted for development (Minago in Manitoba) the market was giving no recognition. There is a large frac sand co-product at Minago so to prove the value of that frac sand we created a subsidiary called Victory Silica which is now operating and selling frac sand to the oil and gas industry in western Canada.

      - Victory Nickel is a canadian enterprise. Do all of the company's activities take place in Canada? Victory Nickel has 4 sulphide nickel projects in Canada (3 in Manitoba and one in Quebec). The Frac sand subsidiary Victory Silica has an operating plant in Alberta, Canada and is currently buying partially finished frac sand from a mine in Wisconsin, USA.

      - How would you describe the economical situation and future plans to an outside investor? Victory Nickel is well positioned due to a growing frac sand business poised to deliver cash flow, with a permitted sulphide nickel mine development project and three other sulphide nickel projects located in good jurisdictions.

      und:

      - What's the cause for Victory Nickel being a pennystock? Was there a specific economical failure in the past?

No failures whatsoever with the exception of the dreadful junior market that has affected all mining shocks, especially start ups like NI.

      - Victory Nickel is a canadian enterprise. Do all of the company's activities take place in Canada?

      Yes and Yes!

      - How would you describe the economical situation and future plans to an outside investor?

Excellent opportunity for shareholders due to frac sand demand in N America's oil industry. The company is funded to grow and has a very experienced management team with both frac sand and nickel experience (ie. building mines). Please see the report attached for more information related to investing.

Victory Nickel Announces Successful Commissioning @7P Frac Sand Plant, Production +sales ramping up as frac sand market remains robust - Aug 11, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/a3/a32f80b9-9315-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 11, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) (www.victorynickel.ca) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. ("Victory Silica" or "VSL") today announced the successful completion of commissioning of its 500,000 ton-per-year Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta.

"We have attained sufficient consistent throughput at the 7P Plant that we can confirm that the commissioning phase is now successfully completed," said Rene Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and CEO. "Congratulations to Ken Murdock and his team on this significant achievement. Although the commissioning process took slightly longer than expected due to damage and delays caused by the extremely severe winter weather experienced in Alberta and the rest of the country, Victory Silica has now established itself as a supplier of the highest quality frac sand available to the northern market and we expect to see sales continue to ramp up throughout the remainder of the year."

"The effort from everyone involved in establishing Victory Nickel through Victory Silica as players in the western Canadian frac sand market has been tremendous," said Ken Murdock, CEO of Victory Silica. "Going from a standing start to first frac sand production and sales in less than two years is quite an achievement. We now have 70% of the Medicine Hat-based oilfield service companies as customers. This is just the beginning however, and we have begun the push to implement Phase 2 of our business plan."

The 7P Plant represents Phase 1 of a three-phase plan whereby the Company is now processing concentrated sand imported from Wisconsin and selling various grades of finished high-quality frac sand. The 7P Plant is well located in an area populated with fracking companies, its potential customers, and is within only a few hours' trucking distance of major oil or gas play well sites. Phase 2, which includes the construction of a frac sand wet plant in Wisconsin, is expected to reduce costs and assure security of sand supply through ownership of a frac sand mine in Wisconsin. In Phase 3, the Company intends to construct a larger frac sand plant to process and distribute both imported and domestic sand, which may potentially, but not necessarily, include sand mined as a co-product of development at the Company's Minago nickel and frac sand project in Manitoba. The Company has already identified a site in Winnipeg, Manitoba for this purpose.

      Second Quarter Update

The 7P Plant was in the commissioning stage during the second quarter, however significant production and sales were generated. Accordingly, sales revenues and related costs will be reported for the second quarter of 2014 rather than costs net of revenue being expensed as pre-operating costs as was done during the first quarter. The Company expects to report cash flow with its third quarter results.

      About Victory Nickel

Victory Nickel Inc. is a Canadian company with four sulphide nickel deposits containing significant NI 43-101-compliant nickel resources and a significant frac sand resource at its Minago project. Victory Nickel is focused on becoming a mid-tier nickel producer by developing its existing properties, Minago, Mel and Lynn Lake in Manitoba, and Lac Rocher in northwestern Quebec, and by evaluating opportunities to expand its nickel asset base. Through a wholly-owned subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd., Victory Nickel has established a presence in the frac sand market through sales from its 7P Plant in Alberta prior to commencing frac sand production and sales from Minago.

Victory Nickel Enters Into Sales Contract for 20% of 7P Plant Frac Sand Production, 1st 50% of Frac Sand Sold on Spot Basis; Targeting Next 50% Under Contracts - Aug 13, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/f2/f2e4ab07-8366-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 13, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd. ("VSL"), has entered into a take-or-pay contract for approximately 20% of the 7P Plant production capacity and for its highest-volume quantities of 20/40 and 30/50 frac sand. The objective is to enter into similar agreements for an additional 30% of production capacity.

The Company's 7P Plant, with a nameplate capacity of 500,000 tons-per-annum of saleable frac sand is located approximately 18 kilometres south of Medicine Hat, Alberta and currently produces four grades of frac sand: 16/30, 20/40, 30/50 and 40/70. Until now the 7P Plant has operated with two crews, and all frac sand sales have been made on a spot basis. The signing of this first take-or-pay contract enables the addition of a third of four crews, and will increase the plant annualized run rate to 75% of full capacity, or 375,000 tons-per-annum. The Company's goal is to exit the third quarter with the 7P Plant operating at its full capacity of 500,000 tons per annum of saleable frac sand utilizing four crews on a 24-hour-per-day, seven-day-per week schedule.

"We believe that this agreement is confirmation of the acceptance of Victory Silica and its premium-quality frac sand products into the western Canadian markets," said René Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Victory Nickel. "Ken Murdock, CEO of VSL, has always maintained that all we have to do is produce the best-quality frac sand and customers would soon recognize our marketing advantage. He is right."

      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/a5/a53b445a-ded6-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 2, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced it has entered into an option to acquire a 100% interest in a land package totalling over 300 acres in south western Wisconsin, USA. The Company is specifically targeting a 100 acre ridge which has been determined to contain one of the highest quality frac sand deposits in North America. This is a Jordan formation sandstone located close to road and rail transportation links. Typically, 40 acres of ridge contains 8,000,000 tons of sandstone. The option is valid for six months with two equivalent extensions available under certain circumstances. Prior to production the Company will be required to pay US$40,000 per annum as advance royalties on the initial 20,000 tons of sand production. Once the property is in production, the Company will be required to pay a royalty of US$2.00 per ton of frac sand sold from the property.

"This agreement establishes Victory Nickel as a property owner in what is recognized as one of the best quality frac sand producing areas in the world," said Ken Murdock, CEO of Victory Nickel's 100%-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. Victory Nickel Options Lynn Lake Nickel Project to Corazon Mining, Consideration includes equity interest in Corazon +1.5% NSR - Nov 4, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/42/42bbe7c7-7b34-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 4, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:Ni) today announced that it has executed a binding term sheet to option its past-producing Lynn Lake nickel project in Manitoba to Corazon Mining Ltd. ("Corazon") (ASX:CZN).

Under the terms of the agreement, subject to any required regulatory approvals, Corazon can acquire a 100% interest in the Company's Lynn Lake project by issuing to Victory Nickel 40 million Corazon shares upon closing and incurring A$3,500,000 in exploration expenditures or in payments (in cash or Corazon shares at Corazon's option) to Victory Nickel over five years. In addition, Victory Nickel will retain a 1.5% net smelter royalty on production from the Lynn Lake nickel project, and receive a payment of A$1,000,000 (in cash or Corazon shares at Corazon's option) within 30 days of ore processing activities at the Lynn Lake nickel project.

The Lynn Lake nickel project is located in Lynn Lake in northern Manitoba, about 320 kilometres by road northwest of the Thompson mining camp. The property is the former Sherritt Gordon Mines Limited mine site known as the Lynn Lake A Mine and Farley Mine, comprised of 13 mining claims, 14 mining claim leases and 2 mineral leases covering an area of 2,170.26 hectares. The property was operated by Sherritt Gordon from 1953 to 1976 with reported production of 22.2 million tons at an average grade of 1.023% nickel and 0.535% copper.

Corazon Mining Limited (ASX:CZN) is a diversified base metals company exploring the historic nickel-copper Lynn Lake mining camp in Canada. Corazon's land position is immediately adjacent to Victory Nickel's Lynn Lake nickel project. In 2010, Corazon discovered a high-grade sulphide breccia at depth below the EL Mine, a discovery that confirmed the prospectivity of that company's Lynn Lake project area. According to Corazon, its intent in consolidating the Lynn Lake nickel-copper camp is to "improve the economics of any potential mining operation and provide benefits in scale and possible mine life." Corazon claims that its initial work will include generating a JORC 2012-compliant resource, advancing mining studies and resource modelling in the Lynn Lake camp.

"Victory Nickel's principal focus is on growing its frac sand sales business and subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. while keeping in mind the development of the large sulphide nickel and frac sand resources at its permitted Minago project in Manitoba," said René Galipeau, Vice-Chairman and CEO. "Corazon's participation will bring new life to the Lynn Lake area and provide upside participation for Victory Nickel shareholders. We look forward to positive developments by Corazon at Lynn Lake."

Victory Nickel Board Approves Proceeding with Phase Two of Frac Sand Business Plan, Phase One now complete, Phase Two designed to enhance quality +reduces costs - Nov 12, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/34/3458ef67-77d2-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 12, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved moving forward to Phase Two of the Company's three-phased business plan to become a significant frac sand supplier in Canada and the northern United States.

"Our Seven Persons plant in southern Alberta (the "7P Plant") is now operating 24/7, sales are strong and we are comfortable that we are now a preferred supplier of high-quality Northern White Wisconsin frac sand," said Ken Murdock, CEO of Victory Silica Ltd. "The Board of Directors has recognized this by providing management with a mandate to advance the business through the next phase which will ensure security of supply of Wisconsin frac sand and allow the Company to more effectively control quality while reducing costs."

Phase Two includes the construction by Victory Nickel of a moveable 1,000,000 ton per year ("tpy") frac sand wash plant directly on a sand deposit in Wisconsin at a cost of approximately US$5 million. The Phase Two Wisconsin wash plant will be capable of supplying washed, concentrated sand to both the existing 7P Plant and to the 1,000,000 tpy dry frac sand processing plant that is currently being planned for construction in Manitoba as part of Phase Three. Phase Three will increase Victory Nickel's total finished frac sand production capacity to 1,500,000 tpy. The target is to have the Phase Two plant operational in the second quarter of 2015.

Victory Nickel Announces 3rd Quarter +Nine Month Financial +Operating Results, Frac Sand Operation Generates 1st EBITDA in Q3, as Sales Ramp Up - Nov 14, 2014
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/ed/edcd758f-dabb-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 14, 2014) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:NI) (www.victorynickel.ca) today reported financial results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2014. Commissioning of the Company's dry frac sand processing plant in Seven Persons Alberta, located approximately 18 km southwest of Medicine Hat (the "7P Plant"), was completed on August 11, 2014. The 7P Plant operated at less than its 500,000 ton per year ("tpy") nameplate capacity throughout the third quarter, both pre- and post-commissioning; staffing and training was in progress during the quarter, limiting throughput. The 7P Plant is now fully staffed.

The 7P Plant was being commissioned during the second quarter, therefore comparative numbers for prior quarters are either not available or not meaningful and are not shown. For further information please see the

Company's Unaudited Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements and MD&A filed at sedar.com.

For the three months ended September 30, 2014:

      Frac Sand Operations:

      - Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ("EBITDA" as defined below) from the frac sand operations was $597,000; total EBITDA for the Company was $115,000.
      - Gross margin was $750,000, or $21.49 per ton. Margin is expected to increase once the 7P Plant is operating at its nameplate capacity.
      - 39,121 tons of frac sand was produced at the 7P Plant.
      - 34,892 tons of frac sand were sold, generating revenue of $5,949,000.
      - Cost of goods sold was $5,199,000, or $149.00 per ton.
      - The Company entered into a take-or-pay contract for approximately 20% of the frac sand production capacity of the 7P Plant, and continued negotiations on additional contracts.

Exploration and Development and Corporate Activities:

      - The Company incurred an aggregate loss of $408,000, or $0.01 basic and diluted loss per share, after corporate administration, exploration and development and financing costs.
      - The Company completed the issuance of unsecured convertible notes aggregating US$5,000,000.
      - The Company completed a share consolidation on a one-for-ten basis.

Subsequent to the end of the third quarter, the Company:

      - Entered into an option to acquire a 100% interest in a 300 acre frac sand property in southwestern Wisconsin, USA.
      - Added the fourth and final crew at the 7P Plant enabling production on a 24-hour-per-day, seven-day-per-week basis to produce up to 500,000 tpy of 16/30, 20/40, 30/50 and 40/70 Northern White frac sand.
      - Received approval from the Board of Directors to proceed with Phase Two of the frac sand business plan, including construction of a 1,000,000 tpy frac sand wash plant in Wisconsin.

"I'm very pleased with our accomplishments thus far in 2014," said Victory Nickel's CEO René Galipeau. "The successful start-up of sales from the 7P Plant has proven that Phase One of Victory Nickel's business plan has succeeded and that we are able to produce, supply and distribute frac sand where and when our customers need it. The growth in demand for our Northern White frac sand during the third quarter has been tremendous, although delayed about a month; production capacity at the 7P Plant is now at 500,000 tons per year; and we anticipate contracted volumes will continue to increase. Looking ahead, we are focused on executing Phases Two and Three of our business plan, as well as the many other opportunities that we have identified to grow the Company's presence in the North American frac sand sector."

Silica sand demand to hit 291m tonnes by 2018

      Published: Tuesday, 30 December 2014

According to the latest predictions from The Freedonia Group, silica sand demand is expected to growth driven largely by China's construction sector - which consumes the mineral in glass production - and the continuing growth in fracking in North America, where silica sand is used as a proppant in the extraction of shale oil and gas. However, though some growth will be limited by a focus on glass recycling, concerns have been aired regarding a silica sand shortage as the US logistics network struggled to cope with the rapid increase in demand in 2014.

Global demand for industrial silica sand is expected to grow by 5.5% a year to 2018 driven by an acceleration in construction spending and manufacturing output.

Victory Nickel Expands Its Wisconsin Frac Sand Supply Chain
Second Source of Supply and Transload Facility Enhance Flexibility in Meeting Customer Needs

      http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/victory-nickel-expa…

"Having a second sand supplier in Wisconsin and transload capability north of our existing transload facility in Winona, Minnesota is just good business," said Ken Murdock, CEO of 100%-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. ("Victory Silica"). "We are maintaining the sand-supply contract with the Wisconsin-based supplier and transload facility in Winona, Minnesota that we have been using since start-up of the Seven Persons frac sand plant (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, Alberta. However the rail line between Winona and St. Paul is apparently CP's busiest section in North America and as a result is subject to congestion; our St. Paul transload facility enables us to bypass that section of railway when necessary to ensure delivery of sand concentrate for processing at the 7P Plant. We believe it is always prudent to have alternatives that provide flexibility in our supply chain to fulfil our mandate of providing our customers with the best quality frac sand when and where it is needed."

      moinsen XIO,

Hier erfährt man nichts. Also 6 Monate spatter.

Victory Nickel Announces NI 43-101 Resource on Wisconsin Frac Sand Deposit, Bear Coulee property contains ~11,000,000 tons of sand - Feb 3, 2015
      http://victorynickel.mwnewsroom.com/Files/17/17fc6c74-3990-4…

"TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 3, 2015) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (TSX:Ni) today announced that a resource estimate of approximately 11 million tons of sand has been completed by Summit Envirosolutions Inc. ("Summit") on the Company's Bear Coulee frac sand property and will be incorporated into a National Instrument 43-101 technical report. The Bear Coulee frac sand property is located in Trempeleau County, Wisconsin and was optioned by Victory Nickel in the fourth quarter of 2014 (see news release dated October 2, 2014).

The Bear Coulee land package under option totals over 300 acres in southwestern Wisconsin, USA; the currently defined Indicated resource contains 10.9 million tons of sand from the Wonewoc Formation sandstone, a common source rock for proppant sand from the region. 43% of the sand will report to the 20/40 size fraction and 42% will report to the 40/140 size fraction. Based on the depositional model of the Wonewoc Formation, Summit interprets a largely uniform quality of the frac sand within the confines of the property. The size distribution of the sand particles that have been sampled is consistent across the area of the property, further indicating a homogeneous resource. Potential for enhancement to the sand resource on the property exists with additional evaluation and drilling. In addition, the very prospective Jordan Formation sandstone is identified on the Wisconsin bedrock geology map to underlie part the property - it has not been evaluated yet and, as elsewhere in the region, may provide an additional source of frac sand.

"This estimate confirms the presence of a substantial NI 43-101 sand resource on the Bear Coulee property," said Ken Murdock, CEO of 100%-owned subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. "Achieving security of supply of the Northern White frac sand for our customers has always been a priority and this transaction is yet another example of the Company enhancing its supply chain to facilitate its ability to deliver the highest quality frac sand product to its customers in a timely manner."

John Dustman (P.G.) and Bruce Johnson (P.G.), both registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the State of Minnesota, of Summit Envirosolutions are responsible for the resource estimation. Both are independent Qualified Persons (QP) in accordance with National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects and have reviewed and are responsible for the mineral resource presented in this news release. All exploration programs are supervised by Paul Jones (P.Geol.), Vice-President, Exploration for Victory Nickel, who acts as QP under NI 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release.

Vast quantities of frac sand are consumed, and more is needed all the time, as shale gas plays in Canada and the US rise to prominence.

      About Victory Silica Ltd.

Victory Silica is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company with a phased plan to establish the Company in the frac sand market. In Phase 1, the Company began sales in 2014 of premium quality Midwestern White frac sand from the 7P Plant by shipping partially-processed sand purchased in Wisconsin to the 7P Plant for final processing and distribution.

      About Victory Nickel

Victory Nickel Inc. is a Canadian company with four sulphide nickel deposits. Victory Nickel is focused on becoming a mid-tier nickel producer by developing its existing properties, Minago, Mel and Lynn Lake in Manitoba, and Lac Rocher in northwestern Québec, and by evaluating opportunities to expand its nickel asset base. Through a wholly-owned subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd., Victory Nickel has established a presence in the frac sand market prior to commencing frac sand production and sales from Minago.

Victory Nickel Provides Update and Outlook for Frac Sand Operation
7P Plant expected to produce at 500,000 tpy production rate before the end of 2015
      https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/victory-nickel-provides-ou…

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb 25, 2015) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company") (NI.TO) today provided an update on operations and developments for its 100%-owned subsidiary, Victory Silica Ltd. ("Victory Silica").

Fourth quarter frac sand production was 47,515 tons, an increase of 21% over third quarter 2014 production, though still short of the potential of the Company's Seven Persons facility (the "7P Plant") near Medicine Hat, AB, estimated at 114,384 tons for the quarter.
Production shortfall is largely a result of delayed rail deliveries of sand feedstock from Wisconsin, unseasonably cold weather that affected unloading activities at the Company's rail siding near the 7P Plant, operating inefficiencies related to plant availability and on-going staff training as production ramped up. The Company has already implemented measures to mitigate the effect of these issues on a go-forward basis.
The industry trend toward increasing proppant intensity (more fracking stages per well using more proppant per stage) is expected to somewhat offset the potential impact on frac sand demand of the decreasing North American rig count due to the lower oil price.

      Frac Sand Production

Throughput at the 7P Plant during the fourth quarter of 2014 was 55,588 tons, resulting in production of 47,515 tons of saleable frac sand product. As depicted in Figure 1, this compares with third quarter production of 39,121 tons of frac sand and 22,519 tons from the start of commissioning to June 30, 2014 bringing annual production to 109,155. Although an improvement over the prior quarters, production fell short of the 7P Plant's potential for several reasons. Importantly, none of these reasons were related to product demand.

At the end of October, 2014, the Company announced the hiring of a fourth crew necessary to operate the 7P Plant at a 24 hour-per-day seven day-per-week basis. At the rated capacity, the potential throughput for the fourth quarter was 114,384 tons; actual throughput represents 49% efficiency. The waterfall chart shown in Figure 2 highlights the primary reasons for the production shortfall. All of these issues are expected to be temporary and have already been or are currently being addressed.

During the fourth quarter, production was impacted by inefficiencies experienced while training new operators and by excessive staff turnover as the Company builds a dependable workforce. Dryer and other equipment breakdowns were more frequent than expected. Unseasonably cold weather in Wisconsin early in the winter season hampered delivery and unloading activities at the Seven Persons rail siding resulting in a reduction of concentrate feed to the 7P Plant. Most significantly, delivery delays on the part of the railroad contracted to ship sand from Wisconsin to the 7P Plant resulted in sand concentrate being delivered at a slower than anticipated rate. These delays in rail car movements caused rail car cycle times to increase and the 7P plant to run out of sand concentrate feed on several occasions. The rail car cycle time for movements from Winona, MN to the 7P Plant and back increased from an average of 34 days in the third quarter to an unacceptable average of 48 days in December. Rail cycle times have recently improved with the use of a second transload point in St. Paul, Minnesota (see news release dated January 9, 2015) and the Company's work with its rail provider to rectify this situation at its original transload in Winona. The Company also intends to expand its fleet of rail cars to increase sand haulage capacity to feed the 7P Plant. The Company plans to build sand concentrate inventory at the 7P Plant to ensure consistent availability for customers when rail and/or operational delays occur that are beyond the Company's control.

"It is unfortunate that these teething problems slowed the expected production growth rate at the 7P Plant as we were able to sell every ton of frac sand produced," said Ken Murdock, Victory Silica's CEO. "The Company has established itself as a provider of a superior product and must now prove itself as a reliable supplier. By focusing on product quality and customer service, we are confident in our ability to grow market share throughout the cycle and will take every opportunity to do so."

      Market Trends

Investors are well aware that oil and natural gas prices have dropped significantly since the beginning of October, 2014. This dramatic and unexpected change has led to significant uncertainty and reduced visibility with regard to the outlook for the energy sector and associated industries, including oilfield services, in 2015.

Not surprisingly, the Company is seeing a decline in demand, and downward pressure on pricing, for its frac sand products. In line with lower commodity price expectations, many industry analysts are forecasting a reduction in capital expenditures by oil and gas exploration and production ("E&P") companies in 2015. At the same time, many in the industry are calling for the trend toward higher proppant intensity as a means of optimizing well production to have a positive impact on frac sand demand. Proppant intensity is measured by the number of stages fracked per well and the amount of proppant, principally frac sand, that is used per stage. The amount of proppant used is on the rise as E&P companies see significant well productivity increases driven by the use of higher proppant volumes, up to 10,000 tons per well in some cases. In the currently challenging oil price environment, E&P companies are doing whatever possible to optimize well production, including using more frac sand.

Victory Nickel will continue to focus on providing the highest quality frac sand products to its customers and expects the 7P Plant to be producing at the 500,000 ton-per-year ("tpy") rate before the end of 2015.

      Business Strategy

Victory Nickel was able to sell all of the frac sand it produced at the 7P Plant in 2014, but as a result was not able to amass a significant finished product. This situation is expected to change when drilling and well-completion activity slows during the annual spring break-up season. A build-up of inventory will provide flexibility to mitigate the impact of future sand supply disruptions or operating issues leading to plant downtime.

In late 2014, Victory Nickel's board of directors authorized the Company to proceed with Phase 2 of its three-phase frac sand business plan (see full description below), including construction of a frac sand wash plant in Wisconsin. In light of the macro-economic issues and related uncertainty that are currently impacting the oil and gas sector, management has deferred the decision to order construction of the Phase 2 wash plant. Phase 1 of the business plan was designed to enable the Company to enter the frac sand market with minimal capital expenditure and low fixed costs to allow it to adapt to frac sand demand fluctuations. Although building the wash plant is highly desirable, in the current uncertain market environment it would not be prudent to add fixed costs. This decision will be re-evaluated at the appropriate time, or in the event that non-dilutive financing for construction of the Phase 2 plant is secured.

"During 2014, Victory Nickel achieved a great many goals as it completed construction of the 7P Plant and entered the frac sand market. By focusing on quality, the Company has built a solid base of approximately a dozen oilfield services customers selling our frac sand products to numerous E&Ps operating in a variety of basins in Saskatchewan, Alberta and North Dakota," said René Galipeau, Victory Nickel's CEO. "While there are a great many headwinds in the frac sand industry today, we remain confident in our business plan and in the continued demand for frac sand in our target markets. We will continue to focus on providing quality products and on optimizing our frac sand operations in a financially prudent manner and fully expect to be well positioned when the energy price cycle rebounds."

PDAC 2015: Rising frac sand demand per well will shield proppants companies from oil price falls

Victory Silica and other proppants suppliers will not suffer as much as the wider industry seems to expect, IM heard at PDAC. The company says that rising consumption on a per well basis, as well as a stronger long term oil price outlook are under-appreciated.

Silica (frac) sand demand is not likely to suffer as much as much many in the industry seem to fear, Laird Tomalty, deputy project director at Victory Silica, told IM at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2015 conference in Toronto, Canada today.

Victory Nickel's Bear Coulee resource exceeds API specs

      2015-03-18 09:49 ET - News Release

      Mr. Rene Galipeau reports

VICTORY NICKEL'S BEAR COULEE FRAC SAND PROJECT EXCEEDS API SPECS

Victory Nickel Inc. has released very positive analytical results from sand samples obtained from drill holes on the Bear Coulee frac sand property located in Trempeleau county, Wisconsin. Testing shows that the 10.9 million tonne NI 43-101 Northern White frac sand resource exceeds American Petroleum Institute ("API") specs and that, on average, an exceptional 43% of the resource will report to the 20/40 size fraction. Northern White sand is highly-valued as a proppant in the oil and gas markets.

"Victory Nickel's strategy is to be the premier supplier of superior domestic Canadian and US Northern White frac sand. As expected, sand from the Bear Coulee property fits the bill," said Ken Murdock, CEO of frac sand subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. "Victory Nickel now has Indicated NI 43-101 frac sand resources totalling 12.6 million tonnes of high-quality domestic frac sand at its Minago property in Manitoba and 10.9 million tonnes of premium Northern White sand at Bear Coulee, giving the Company the most comprehensive suite of frac sand resources of any Canadian publicly-traded supplier. These resources are in addition to the frac sand that we have been selling into the Canadian and Northern US markets since mid-2014."

The Bear Coulee land package under option totals over 300 acres in southwestern Wisconsin, USA. Based on the depositional model of the Wonewoc Formation, Summit Envirosolutions interprets a largely uniform quality of the frac sand within the confines of the property. The size distribution of the sand particles that have been sampled is consistent across the area of the property, further indicating a homogeneous resource. Potential for expansion of the sand resource on the property exists with additional evaluation and drilling. The very prospective Jordan Formation sandstone is identified on the Wisconsin bedrock geology map to underlie part the property - it has not yet been evaluated and, as elsewhere in the region, may provide an additional source of high-quality proppant sand.

The analytical results for roundness, sphericity, turbidity and crush resistance from four samples collected from the first four boreholes drilled on the property are tabulated below. These initial results obtained from the Bear Coulee Northern White sand exceed the minimum ISO 13503-2/API RP19C requirements.

      Specification Specification

Crush Resistance 7.5K (average) To generate less than

The analyses were conducted at FracTAL Laboratory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA for distinct quality parameters in general accordance with the standards of the ISO 13503-2/API RP19C specification, except that a CAMSIZER was used for grain size distribution analysis. The following tests were performed: gradations using CAMSIZER, Krumbein shapes (roundness and sphericity), turbidity, bulk density and crush strength.

      About Frac Sand

Frac sand is a proppant used in the oil and gas industry as a part of the hydraulic fracturing process - a means of increasing flow to the wellhead. Frac sand must have particular characteristics including achieving certain levels of crush resistance, sphericity and roundness, and it is therefore a relatively rare commodity.

Wer Weiss was da alles noch dazwischen kommt.

Frac sand industry feels the effects of low oil prices, less drilling
      http://www.startribune.com/business/298845431.html

Most sand is sold under long-term contracts. “Some of the contracts come up for renegotiation in May, and that will tell us what’s happening,” said Dave Armstrong, executive director of Industrial Development Authority in Barron County, Wis., the epicenter of Wisconsin’s frac sand business

      aber auch:

      Possible upside
Amid the downturn, two trends in the oil industry may benefit the sand business.
Oil companies also are starting to pump significantly more frac sand into each well because production data show that it increases the oil output.

“The more the better — there is no doubt about it,” said Ken DeCubellis, CEO of Minnetonka-based Black Ridge Oil & Gas,...

...“The problem today, they are just not drilling enough wells,” said DeCubellis, whose own company cut its capital expenditures 40 percent this year, compared with 2014. “Over the short term, there is clearly going to be a reduction in the amount of frac sand used. Once the market rebounds and oil prices start to recover, then you are going to start to see that volume increase again.”

The company behind a recommissioned drilling sand processing plant in Sevens Persons is stressing that its current shutdown is the result of spring breakup season and could be brief.

Victory Silica laid off 22 workers on Tuesday, stating that the traditional downtime for new drilling exploration is worse than expected due to poor commodity prices and tightened capital budgets.

“We always project that there will be a little bit of a downturn during spring break up but this has been very nasty,” said Ken Murdock, the locally based CEO of the subsidiary of Victory Nickel.

He said that with road bans in place and permits priced at a premium, companies are pushing off work in an aim to further lower costs.

“To be fiscally responsible we’ve suspended production. We still have activity at the plant and we’re still ready to sell sand if companies require it. How long will it last? We’re getting positive response from customers and bids… we don’t think it will be all that long.”

Core staff is remaining in place, said Murdock, and operations could begin again on a limited basis in May.

Currently the company is still selling sand from a 40,000 tonne supply built up over the winter.

One day after the announcement, the parent company’s stock was up half-of-one-cent in heavy trading on Wednesday, closing at 9-cents per share in Toronto.

Victory Nickel purchased the former sand recycling facility in Seven Persons in early 2013 to further refine sand purchased in Wisconsin. The eventual plan is to ship in product from a northern Manitoba mine site owned by Victory Nickel.

The Seven Persons plant has a planned production capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year of proppant used in hydraulic fracture drilling.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 49.827.333 von Micky1212 am 21.05.15 19:45:50A lack of E&P activity in Canada owing to low oil prices and road bans preventing the transport of heavy equipment contributed to low demand for frac sand, resulting in a Q1 2015 loss for the producer. Victory Nickel hopes that its production halt, refinancing, cost cutting and sales from frac sand stockpiles will better position it to grow when the market rebounds. It is possible that an uptick might not happen until 2016.

      ...

The Company reported a consolidated net loss of $271,000, or $0.00 per share, on sales revenue of $1,522,000 for the three months ended March 31, 2015. This compares with a net loss of $1,446,000, or $0.02, on revenues of $Nil in the comparative period of the prior year during which the Company was in the pre-operating stage at the 500,000 ton per year ("tpy") frac sand plant in Alberta (the "7P Plant").

The 7P Plant produced 13,721 tons of various grades of frac sand during the quarter ended March 31, 2015. The Company accumulated inventory of in excess of 40,000 tons at various stages of the process. As previously announced, until inventories are drawn down through sales, the Company temporarily suspended production. The 7P Plant was in the pre-operating stage during the first quarter of 2014 therefore there are no comparative numbers.

Revenue per ton in the first quarter was $149.54 per ton on sales of 10,178 tons, resulting in a negative gross margin of $247,000, or $24.27 per ton sold. The three-month period ended March 31, 2015 was not a typical sales period as the sudden and material drop in the price of oil that occurred in the fourth quarter of 2014 caused such uncertainty in the market that exploration and production ("E &P") companies basically stopped activities in The Company's market area. This was compounded by spring break up, the time each year when road bans restrict the movement of heavy equipment on to well pads resulting in less drilling and therefore lower frac sand demand. During the prior year comparative quarter, sales revenue of $274,000 was generated but netted against pre-operating costs.

"The start of 2015 has been a challenging time for the oil and gas industry, and frac sand suppliers like Victory Nickel have been hit hard as a result. We are working with our lenders to improve our financial position, have dramatically cut overhead in an effort to lower costs and are actively evaluating a number of new initiatives to make the Company more competitive," said Rene Galipeau, CEO of Victory Nickel. "Although we are beginning to see some positive developments in the market, and sooner than was initially expected, the recent decline in the price of oil and the resulting decrease in rig count and well completion activity has negatively impacted oil and gas activity leading to reduced demand and pricing for frac sand and other oil services and supplies. These conditions could persist for the remainder of 2015. We believe the downward pressure on frac sand pricing that has been experienced is not sustainable and anticipate being in a position to participate when frac sand demand turns around."

      2015 Outlook

The Company has approximately 40,000 tons of premium-quality Northern White Wisconsin frac sand at various stages of completion in inventory at the 7P Plant. Victory Nickel is therefore well-positioned to meet customers' needs when frac sand demand returns. The slowdown is also presenting opportunities and Victory Silica management is actively pursuing these opportunities which should make the Company more competitive in the future.

Victory Nickel boosts SPA loan to $5.15-million (U.S.)

      2015-06-03 18:49 ET - News Release

      Mr. Rene Galipeau reports

VICTORY NICKEL ANNOUNCES AMENDED LOAN AGREEMENT AND WARRANT AMENDMENTS

Victory Nickel Inc. has entered into an amending agreement with City Hall Capital LLC (the lender) with respect to the securities purchase and loan agreement (SPA loan) entered into in 2014 (see press release dated May 15, 2014). The SPA loan, having a principal amount of $4-million (U.S.), is secured by a general security agreement over the assets of the company. Under the terms of the amending agreement, the SPA loan has been amended to permit the issuance of additional notes by the company for an additional sum of $1.15-million (U.S.). Any proceeds received from the issuance of such notes will be used to repay the $1-million (U.S.) owed under the short-term facility entered into with the lender on Oct. 1, 2014, that was due on May 31, 2015, bearing interest at 28 per cent per year. The remainder will be used by the company for working capital purposes. The total amount of $5.15-million (U.S.) under the amended loan is now due on July 30, 2015. The interest rate on the amended loan is 14.8 per cent per year.

Prior to the entering into of the amending agreement, the company had issued to the lender four million (after giving effect to the consolidation of the company effective Sept. 12, 2014) common share purchase warrants. Pursuant to the amending agreement, the terms of the original warrants were amended to reduce the exercise price to 50 cents (from $1) and to extend the expiry date to June 3, 2017 (from May 15, 2017). Additionally, as partial consideration for entering into the amended loan, the company has issued to the lender an additional 1.15 million common share purchase warrants on the same terms as the original warrants, as amended. As of the date hereof, one-half of the warrants have vested, with the remainder to vest if: (i) the company makes a prepayment under the amended loan; and (ii) the five-day volume-weighted average trading price of the common shares of the company on the Toronto Stock Exchange is $1 or lower on the date immediately prior to such prepayment. All warrants are subject to a four-month-plus-one-day hold period from the date hereof. Additionally, pursuant to the rules of the TSX with respect to the amendment of warrants, the warrants are not exercisable for a period of 10 business days following the date hereof.

"We are pleased in this vote of confidence from our secured lender," said chief executive officer Rene Galipeau. "We are beginning to see positive signs in our targeted Western Canadian frack sand market, and the amended loan will give us time to take advantage of that and work toward refinancing the debt over a longer term."

      We seek Safe Harbor.

Toronto, March 21, 2017 – Victory Nickel Inc. (“Victory Nickel” or the “Company”) (CSE: NI,
www.victorynickel.ca) today announced that due to increasing market demand for frac sand it has restarted the dry plant at its Seven Persons frac sand facility near Medicine Hat, Alberta (the “7P Plant”). “We are beginning to see an increase in sand demand from both our existing customer base and new customers,” said Ken Murdock, CEO of the Company’s subsidiary Victory Silica Ltd. “As stated in our news release of February 23 we have been selling frac sand out of inventory at the 7P Plant to meet demand in addition to introducing a direct-to-customer shipping program out of Wisconsin.” The Company is also looking at new growth opportunities that will allow it to expand and diversify its footprint in the growing North American frac sand market. According to New York based investment bank Cowen and Co., the US land rig count showed sequential growth of 24% in the first quarter of 2017 (up to March 17), following on a 24% increase during the fourth quarter of 2016. This continuing growth in rig count combined with increased high-intensity fracking that uses very high volumes of sand in a well completion leads Denver-based investment bank Headwaters MB to project that US proppant demand will increase to 50 million tons in 2017 from about 30 million tons in 2016.
