Metalicity Ltd (ASX:MCT) has detected significant structural gold targets from a geochemical soil sampling program at the company’s Rocky Gully Project, which covers 1200 square kilometres of granted tenements, located in the Albany Fraser Belt, Western Australia.

The geological soil sampling consisted of 1573 samples collected across the entire project area.

Metalicity’s sampling targeted the Proterozoic rocks of the Albany Fraser belt, which further along strike host the Tropicana Gold Mine of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd (ASX:AGG).

The Proterozoic aged rocks of the Albany Fraser belt are emerging as important hosts to gold mineralisation in addition to nickel mineralisation at the Nova mine and West Musgraves Project.

Several new gold anomalies, including up to 24 parts per billion (ppb) gold were detected across the project.

Follow up in fill sampling is being accelerated to define this anomaly for drill testing.

These new targets build on previously identified gold targets where anomalous gold in soil results of 24 ppb to 187 ppb gold were reported, similar to the initial Tropicana gold in soil anomalies of 25 ppb to 237 ppb gold, which led to the discovery of a 6.2 million ounces at 1.74 g/t gold deposit.

Metalicity is currently integrating all geophysical data to determine the trend and potential bedrock source for these soil anomalies.

The shares of Metalicity has rallied by about 148% since the beginning of 2016.

The Perth-based mineral and exploration company has begun an accelerated $1 million lithium exploration program with the initial key focus being the systematic sampling and mapping of the central outcropping pegmatites at the Stannum lithium project, within the Pilgangoora South project in the Pilbara.

The initial program at Stannum will build on recently completed first pass field work and will seek to determine whether outcropping pegmatites are connected undercover and form one continuous strike extent.

The work is expected to generate drill targets for a maiden drilling program planned to begin at Stannum as soon as licences are granted and drilling approvals have been received.

Managing director Matt Gauci said: "We are excited by the potential endowment of our Pilbara and Greenbushes Regional projects, and Stannum in particular, where a maiden drilling program will commence as soon as practical across a target strike extent of 5.5 kilometres and where interpreted spodumene mineralisation correlates well with outcropping pegmatites."

Metalicity has acquired seven projects in the Pilbara region covering a total area of 859km2 and are located in well-established and highly endowed existing lithium-tantalum districts including Pilgangoora and Wodgina.

The company will also be conducting broader mapping and sampling to determine a work program at the Greenbushes Regional lithium project which covers an area of 870km2 and is located within 35km of Talison Lithium's Greenbushes lithium operation in the south west of Western Australia.

Shares in Metalicity were trading over 5% higher at 6.2c in late morning trade.

      LITHIUM EXPLORATION PROJECTS UPDATE
Field work well underway at Pilgangoora/Wodgina, Greenbushes and Lake Cowan districts as part of accelerated $1 million lithium exploration program Key focus is target definition for maiden drilling program at Stannum (Pilgangoora South project) Management expertise enhanced with the addition of Pip Darvall to the Exploration team
Evaluation of further hard rock and brine lithium projects in Australia, Africa and the Americas
Investment and JV discussions advancing with members of the China Lithium Battery Association
Initial exploration results to be released in coming weeks
Metalicity Limited (“Metalicity” or “the Company”) provides the following update on exploration and business development activities across its lithium project portfolio.Field exploration in the Pilgangoora, Greenbushes and Lake Cowan lithium districts is well underway with comprehensive sampling and mapping programs across all project areas. This work forms the first phaseof the Company’s accelerated $1 million exploration program across its Western Australian lithium projects (see Metalicity ASX announcement on 10 May 2016 for further details). The key focus of this phase is the central outcropping pegmatites at Stannum, which forms part of the Pilgangoora South project (Figure 1). This work
is generating drill targets for a maiden drilling program at Stannum planned to commence upon the grant of exploration licences and requisite drilling approva
ls. Further, Mr Pip Darvall has been appointed to the Exploration Management team. Mr Darvall has over 20years working as a geologist across a range of commodities. Most recently, he was Exploration and Resource Geology Manager at Atlas Iron Limited. During this time, he had key responsibility for greenfield exploration, resource definition and tenement management, including lithium project generation. Metalicity’s internal expertise is complemented by CSA Global geologists Dr Andrew Scogings and Mr Ralphe Porter. Both have significant experience in lithium and other industrial minerals, and are working with Metalicity on project evaluation and generation pro
grams. Metalicity continues to target value accretive additions to its current portfolio of lithium projects in Australia. Due diligence is progressing on a range of early stage and advancedlithium hard rock projects in Australia and Africa, while a range of lithium brine projects are
being considered in North and South America. In March 2016, Metalicity presented to and subsequently commenced commercial discussions with various members of the China Lithium Battery Association. These discussions are continuing with a range of investment and joint ventures structures being considered for projects in Australia and internationally.
Metalicity Managing Director, Matt Gauci, commented:
“We continue to progress our lithium project strategy aggressively. The definition of initial drill targets at Stannum is the key focus of current field exploration. We also continue to assess a range of lithium project acquisition opportunities, and external investment and joint venture proposals.”
