Corporate Overview

The Immune Response Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company based in Carlsbad, California, developing immune-based therapies to induce specific T cell responses for the treatment of HIV and autoimmune diseases. In addition, the Company is working on cancer vaccines and gene therapy.

HIV. The Company`s most advanced therapy under development, REMUNE, is based on an approach first proposed by the late Dr. Jonas Salk, a co-founder of the Company. REMUNE is an immune-based therapy intended to treat HIV-infected individuals and prevent or delay the progression to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome ("AIDS"). REMUNE is designed to stimulate an HIV-infected individual`s immune system to attack HIV and can be used alone or in combination with existing antiviral drug therapies for HIV. The Company believes that clinical trials conducted since 1987 have suggested that REMUNE is safe and well tolerated and may have a favorable impact on multiple markers of HIV disease progression including viral burden, CD4 cell count, HIV-specific cell-mediated immunity, antibody production and weight gain. In March 1996, the Company initiated a pivotal Phase III clinical trial for REMUNE. This clinical trial, involving 2,500 HIV-infected individuals at 74 clinical centers in the United States, was fully enrolled in May 1997. Subsequent to the start of the Phase III clinical trial, the United States Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") granted expanded access approval for those individuals who are ineligible to enroll in this trial. The Company expects to dedicate a substantial portion of its resources to the REMUNE program.

The Company is also conducting trials in additional patient populations. In March 1996, the Company`s licensee, Trinity Medical Group Co., Ltd. ("Trinity") of Bangkok, Thailand, initiated a Phase II clinical trial with REMUNE in Thailand. In May 1996, the Company initiated a Phase I clinical trial with the National Institutes of Health ("NIH") to treat HIV-infected children. In October 1996, the Company initiated a Phase II combination drug trial in Spain. Finally, in February 1997, the Company, in conjunction with Glaxo Wellcome and Merck & Co., initiated a Phase II combination drug trial in the U.S. Glaxo is providing AZT and 3TC and Merck is providing its protease inhibitor, Crixivan.

Autoimmune Disease. Immune Response is using its proprietary autoimmune disease technology to develop treatments for certain autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis. Currently approved therapies treat only the symptoms of these diseases. The Company`s technology is designed to inhibit the destructive activity of the specific autoreactive T cells that the Company believes cause each disease by generating an immune response against the unique markers on the autoreactive T cells. In January 1997, the Company announced the results from both the rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis Phase II clinical trials. The Company believes that the results for rheumatoid arthritis demonstrated safety and a statistically significant clinical improvement in disease condition using the American College of Rheumatology guidelines (ACR 20 criteria). The Company believes that the results for psoriasis were safe and patients in all groups improved during the course of the trial. In addition, the Company has completed a Phase I clinical trial for multiple sclerosis.

Gene Therapy. The Company`s proprietary GeneDrug technology under development is designed to replace missing or defective genes to treat disease. This technology uses a unique system intended to deliver genes specifically to the liver after a single intravenous injection. In preclinical studies, a potential GeneDrug product was successfully used for Factor VIII to produce therapeutic levels of this blood clotting factor for 60 days. If similar results can be obtained in humans, the Company believes that this therapy could provide significant advantages over the current treatments for hemophilia. Additionally, a potential GeneDrug for interferon-alpha ("IFN") also has been used in preclinical studies to induce production of significant levels of IFN within the liver as a potential treatment for hepatitis.

Cancer. The Company is also developing new therapies for the treatment of cancer. These technologies are designed (i) to increase immune system recognition of cancers, (ii) to inhibit cancer evasion of the immune system, and (iii) to sensitize cancer to conventional therapies. In December 1996, the Company completed a Phase I clinical trial in colon cancer. The Company believes the results from this trial indicated the therapy was safe and patients demonstrated strong positive skin tests with 3-5 fold increases in precursor frequency of tumor reactive T cells. The Company initiated a Phase Ib clinical trial for colon cancer in September 1998 and plans to start a Phase I clinical trial for brain cancer in the fourth quarter of 1999.

Immune Response Shares Rise on AIDS Drug Study (Update1)

Carlsbad, California, March 23 (Bloomberg) -- Shares in
Immune Response Corp rose 43 percent after the company said
results of a study of its lead AIDS drug, Remune, conducted in
Thailand, could lead to government approval there.

Shares in the biotechnology company rose 4 11/16 to close at
15 11/16 in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. Last May, the stock
dropped 43 percent in two days, after a U.S. study of 2,500
patients found that Remune didn`t show any clinical benefit when
added to traditional combination AIDS therapy.

If Thailand`s Ministry of Public Health approves the drug,
which boosts the immune system of patients with HIV, it would
bring the money-losing company its first revenue. Such an approval
may be raising hopes for approval of the drug in the U.S., an
analyst said.
``People are saying, `Look, this is the first time the
company could get revenue. If this is approvable in Thailand,
maybe the chances of approval in the U.S. are higher than I
thought,` `` said Alan Auerbach, an analyst at First Security Van
Casper.

Still, the company is unlikely to submit the Thai data to
U.S. regulators.

More than 800,000 people in Thailand -- about 2.3 percent of
nation`s population -- have HIV, according to the World Health
Organization.

Patients taking only Remune in the study had a significantly
higher number of helper T cells in the blood, which may signal
immune system strength, according to a 297-person study presented
today at a medical meeting in Thailand,

In addition, researchers measured the level of HIV in the
bloodstream of 68 patients and found that 39 had no change in
their HIV level, while 20 people had reduced amounts of HIV in the
bloodstream and nine patients saw their HIV levels rise.
``This is particularly important for HIV patients who do not
have access to antiviral drug therapy,`` said Vina Churdboonchart,
the primary investigator on the trial. Churdboonchart said those
results were good enough to ask Thailand`s government to approve
Remune for sale in Thailand. The four injections a year of Remune
are less complicated and could turn out to be less expensive than
traditional AIDS therapy.

Carlsbad, California-based Immune Response is working with
Warner-Lambert Co. to test the drug in the U.S. The two companies
have initiated another large-scale clinical trial to see if Remune
can suppress HIV levels in patients after they stop taking
traditional AIDS drugs.

mein gott, wie gedankenlos muß jemand sein, der so über geld und aktien ( sogar über stops - ich lache mich kaputt ) spricht, wie es hier zum teil zu lesen ist. das ist eine lachplatte und ein gefundenes fressen für jeden, der vernünftig handelt.

ich bin froh über den beitrag von dj cool, denn er scheint zu wissen um was es geht und versucht hier etwas zu vermitteln und zu diskutieren.

das finde ich sehr gut!

immune ist wahrscheinlich eine sehr gute chance gutes geld zu verdienen. das alte high liegt übrigens bei ca. 59$ und schon 8 jahre zurück. der wert scheint alles zu haben was eine "attraktive" aktie braucht. von der produktpalette bis hin zur fantasie.
selbstverständlich weiß niemand wann es soweit ist, aber wir werden mit gedult( vielleicht gar nicht so viel ) viel und lange spaß an diesem wert haben.
und nochwas, man muß nicht zocken, "hirnlos" sein und braucht auch kein großes mundwerk um x100te prozent zu machen!

Habe wieder etwas über Remune rausgekramt, ist von Oktober 1999.
Bitte nicht falsch verstehen!
Man kann dadurch deutlich machen was die Meldung vom 23.03.00
bedeutet hat, den bei der nachfolgenden Studie wurde kein Durchbruch
erzielt.

Remune - kein klinischer Nutzen in Kombination mit HAART

Endlich ist die Auswertung der großen Remune-Studie präsentiert worden. Leider brachte sie überhaupt
nicht die von vielen
erhofften Ergebnisse. Dr. James Kahn fiel die undankbare Aufgabe zu, diese an 2527 Personen
durchgeführte
placebokontrollierte, doppelblinde, randomisierte Phase III-Studie zu präsentieren. Die mediane
CD4-Zellzahl der
Studienteilnehmer lag bei Studienbeginn bei 418 Zellen/µl, die mediane Ausgangsviruslast bei 3,1 log.
Primärer Endpunkt der
Studie war progressionsfreie Überlebenszeit, sekundäre Endpunkte waren Surrogatmarker. Die
Verum-Gruppe erhielt (auf dem
Hintergrund einer stabilen HAART) alle 12 Wochen 10 Mio IU Remune, die Placebo-Gruppe (auf dem
Hintergrund einer stabilen
HAART) IFA (das Adjuvant alleine). Der durchschnittliche Beobachtungszeitraum betrug 88,7 Wochen.
Die Drop-out-Rate lag
bei 8% pro Jahr.

90 Patienten verschlechterten sich klinisch: 44 in der Verum-Gruppe und 46 in der Placebo-Gruppe
(p=0,75). Die
Progressionsrate betrug 2,1 Ereignisse pro 100 Personenjahre des Follow-up. Da die Rate zu gering war
und keinen
Unterschied zwischen den Studienarmen zeigte, empfahl das DSMB, die Studie zu beenden.

Die vorläufige Auswertung der VL-Ergebnisse von 1567 der 2527 Patienten ergab keine statistisch
signifikanten Unterschiede
zwischen den beiden Armen. Zum Auswertungszeitpunkt Woche 48 zeigte sich eine leichte
Überlegenheit der Verum-Gruppe
bezüglich der CD4-Zellzahl (+16 Zellen/µl im Vergleich zur Placebo-Gruppe, p<0,01). Erwartungsgemäß
lag die
Lympozytenproliferation auf die Core-Proteine bei der Verum-Gruppe mit 45% bzw. 34% deutlich über
der der Placebo-Gruppe
(< 1%) [Kahn J. LB-21, Addendum, S. 18].

Therapeutische Immunsierung mit Remune
stimuliert HIV-spezifische, zellvermittelte Immunantwort

Die zellvermittelte Immunantwort auf HIV ist - so wird angenommen - der wichtigste Mechanismus der Kontrolle des HIV bei
Menschen, die in der Lage sind, die Virusvermehrung ohne ART zu kontrollieren - den sogenannten
Long-Term-Nonprogressoren. Diese Immunantwort ist durch eine starke Helferzellproliferation gegen das HIV-Kernprotein p24
charakterisiert.

Eine erfolgreiche HAART reduziert die Virusreplikation auf sehr geringe Level und erlaubt eine teilweise Rekonstitution des
Immunsystems - selbst bei Menschen mit weit fortgeschrittenem Immundefekt. Es gibt allerdings bislang nur sehr wenig
Hinweise darauf, daß es - selbst nach langer erfolgreicher HAART - ebenfalls zu einer Rekonstitution der HIV-spezifischen
Immunantwort kommt. Bislang konnte eigentlich eher das Gegenteil nachgewiesen werden: Bei Menschen, bei denen vor
Beginn der Therapie eine HIV-spezifsiche Immunantwort nachweisbar war, verschlechterte sich diese unter Therapie und schien
bei länger andauernder erfolgreicher Unterdrückung der Virusreplikation vollständig zu verschwinden.

Dieses Verschwinden der Immunantwort auf HIV ist eigentlich nicht überraschend, da die Aufrechterhaltung einer zellulären
Immunantwort eine andauernde Stimulation in Form der Antigenpräsentation erfordert. Da durch HAART der Virusumsatz auf
ein sehr niedriges Niveau reduziert wird, können HIV-Antigene nicht mehr präsentiert werden und die spezifische Immunantwort
verschwindet. Tatsächlich wird die Reduktion aktivierter Lymphozyten als ein Marker für eine erfolgreiche ART gesehen.

Das paradoxe dieser Situation ist, daß eine lang andauernde und ununterbrochene Stimulation durch Antigen, die mit einer
unkontrollierten HIV-Replikation einhergeht, eben keine wirksame HIV-spezifische Immunantwort hervorruft, sondern
übereinstimmend als die Ursache für deren Versagen gewertet wird. Möglicherweise ist die Hyperaktivierung des
Immunsystems oder die Zerstörung von Helferzellen, die die Antwort einleiten, die Ursache dafür. Denn aktivierte
T-Lymphozyten sind die primären Zielzellen des HIV.

Es wurde überlegt, daß eine suffiziente Stimulierung der HIV-spezifischen zellvermittelten Immunantwort durch eine
Immunisierung mit einer modifizierten Form des HIV (bei Supression der nativen HIV-Infektion mittels HAART) die mit der
chronischen Infektion einhergehende Anergie beheben könnte. Der Hauptkandidat für einen derartigen Versuch ist Remune, das
von Jonathan Salks und der Immune Response Corporation entwickelt wurde und von Agouron zur Marktreife weiterentwickelt
werden soll.

Remune ist ein abgetötetes HIV-1 mit einem Stamm A-Enve-lope und einem Stamm G-gag. Die äußeren Hüllproteine (gp120)
sind depletiert. Die Antigenpräparation ist chemisch und durch Bestrahlung inaktiviert.

In einer Veröffentlichung im Wissenschaftsmagazin Journal of Infectious Diseases berichten Ronald B Moss und Mark
Wal-lace über die Ergebnisse einer kleinen Studie, die die Fähigkeit des Immunsystems nach Behandlung mit Remune in
Kombination mit HAART beurteilen sollte. Die HIV-1-spezifsiche Lymphozytenproliferation wurde bei 15 Patienten vor und nach
Behandlung untersucht. Die Studienteilnehmer hatten median einen CD4-Zellzahl von 586 Zellen/µl (Bandbreite 223 - 1147) und
eine Plasmaviruslast von 953 Kopien/ml (Bandbreite <400 - 4625). Eine Zweifach-Nukleosidkombination wurde mit einem oder
zwei PIs kombiniert. Remune wurde am 1.Tag und dann alle 12 Wochen in der Dosis von 10 IU verabreicht.

Die in vitro Immunfunktionsassays verwendeten das komplette gp120 depletierte Immunogen, gereinigtes p24-Antigen der
Remune-Vakzine (np24), ein rekombinantes p24 (rp24) und ein Candida-Antigen als Kontrolle. Das Erkennen der Antigene
wurde vor und nach der Immunisierung durch Standard-Lymphozytenproliferationsassay (LPA) und Flow-Zytometrie bewertet.
Mit CD4, CD8 und CD56 (NK-Zellen) depletierten PBMCs wurden zusätzliche Proliferationsassays durchgeführt. Die
Chemokinproduktion auf das Antigen wurde mittels MIP-1-ELISA gemessen.

Nach der ersten Immunisierung wurde eine signifikante Zunahme der Immunantwort auf die Gesamtvakzine, np24 und rp24
beobachtet. Im Gegensatz dazu veränderte sich die Immunantwort auf das Candida-Antigen nicht signifikant. Nach weiteren
Injektionen wurde die Immunantwort nicht weiter stimuliert, blieb jedoch signifikant über den Ausgangswerten vor
Behandlungsbeginn. Die antigenspezifische Flow-Zytometrie zeigte, daß die CD4, CD8 und NK-Zell-Phänotypen die - in
Reaktion auf das Antigen - hauptsächlich proliferierenden Zellen waren. Es konnte nach Immunisierung ferner eine durch
HIV-Antigen stimulierte Produktion von Beta-Chemokinen (MIP-1 beta) beobachtet werden.

Die Autoren schlossen: "Die Ergebnisse der Studie legen nahe, daß eine mangelhafte HIV-1-spezifische Immunantwort mit
einer HIV-1-spezifischenen Immuntherapie bei chronischer HIV-Infektion verbessert werden kann."

Kommentar

Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie waren wesentlicher Auslöser für eine große, 2.500 Patienten umfassende Phase III-Studie zu
Remune plus HAART in den USA. Diese Studie ist beendet. Wie bereits berichtet, hat das DSMB im März die Auswertung der
Studie bis zur vollständigen Vorlage aller virologischer Untersuchungsergebnisse ausgesetzt. Bis heute ist von diesem
vielversprechenden Ansatz leider nichts mehr zu hören gewesen. Stattdessen schießen überall Therapiepause-Studien aus
dem Boden, die mit dem gleichen Hintergrund quasi eine Autovakzinationsstrategie fahren - obwohl die Auswertung aller bisher
zu diesem Ansatz durchgeführten kleinen Studien zeigte, daß das Absetzen der HAART alleine nur zum Wiederanstieg der
Viruslast führt. Es ist im Interesse aller Beteiligten zu hoffen, daß die Ergebnisse der Phase III-Studie schnellstmöglich
publiziert werden.

Immune Response Shares Soar 43 Percent as Thai Doctors Back AIDS Drug

Immune Response Corp. saw it shares rise 43 percent on Thursday following a report that Thai
researchers will recommend approval of Remune, the
company`s HIV drug. The announcement about Thailand comes after positive study results presented
last month in Geneva. According to analysts, Remune
could be useful in Thailand and other countries where combination AIDS therapies that are standard in
the United States are too expensive. Whereas the
drug cocktails require up to 20 pills a day taken at various times, Remune is injected every three
months. First Security Van Kasper analyst Alan Auerbach
notes that the drug approval system in Thailand is "very informal" and the drug should soon reach
consumers; however, he adds that Remune is "too weak"
to be used by itself in the United States, where a variety of proven therapies are already on the market.
Remune is now being tested for use in conjunction
with Agouron Pharmaceuticals` antiviral drug, Viracept.

Immune Response Signs Definitive Agreement to
Acquire Opticon Medical; Immune Shareholders
Approve Three Proposals At Special Shareholders
Meeting

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Immune Response, Inc.
("Immune") (Nasdaq: IMUR) announced that it has signed a definitive
agreement to acquire privately held Opticon Medical, Inc. ("Opticon") through
a newly formed wholly owned subsidiary. Terms of the agreement call for the
existing stockholders of Immune to retain 20% of the newly merged company
on a post-merger basis through a tax-free exchange of stock. Upon
completion of the merger, the current officers and directors of Immune
Response will step down and a new board of directors chosen by Opticon will
take over. The current management of Opticon will operate the newly
merged company.

Opticon, based in Dublin, Ohio, is a development stage company focused on
the design, development and marketing of a series of innovative,
cost-effective devices for the management and control of adult urinary
incontinence and for use in traditional urinary management. Opticon
possesses the patents to an innovative product, the OPTICON(TM), a
disposable, silicone, indwelling valved catheter designed to prevent urine
leakage from the lower urinary tract. Unlike traditional urinary catheters, the
OPTICON does not require a system of urine collection bags and collecting
tubes.

Immune also announced today the results of its Special Meeting of

three (1 for 3) reverse stock split of the Company`s common stock; a
reduction in the affirmative shareholder vote necessary to approve major
transactions from two-thirds to a majority of shares outstanding; and the
authorization to issue up to 1,000,000 shares of "blank check" preferred stock
and to increase the authorized capital of the Company to 26,000,000 shares.

the reverse stock split and will announce the effective date in the near future.

Na also geht doch! Sind unter den TOP 10 ohne das wir wirre Beiträge
oder wirre Boardteilnehmer dabei hätten. Es bringt zwar nichts aber
ich finde es trotzdem schön, das mehrere Investoren sich für IMNR

So, meine persönliche Meinung zum Chart:

Unterstützung liegt bei ca. 12€, wird diese Marke nicht durchbrochen
dann geht es wieder aufwärts.
Der COP-Indikator gibt ein klares Kaufsignal, sollte der Kurs steigen
und die Null-Linie wird von unten nach oben durchbrochen dann heißt
anschnallen und festhalten. Meiner Meinung nach reicht eine positive
Meldung aus um "die Rakete zu zünden".
Wie schon 109 geschrieben hat gibt es wenig Verkäufe, aber die
"Großen" warten noch ab.
Persönlich Fazit ab 12,5 € kräftig nachkaufen oder einsteigen.

HIV-1 Immunogen Combined with DNA Sequence Adjuvant Boosts Immunity in Animals

CARLSBAD, Calif., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Immune Response Corporation (Nasdaq: IMNR - news) announced today data from preclinical animal studies of a potential new vaccine consisting of the Company`s HIV immunogen, Remune(TM) (whole-killed HIV depleted of gp120 coat proteins in Incomplete Freund`s Adjuvant) combined with a novel immunostimulatory sequence of DNA. These data were presented on March 27, 2000 at the ``International Workshop on Immunotherapy in HIV Infection`` held in Israel. This potential new preventive HIV vaccine appears to boost key elements of the immune response in animals, including both T-helper and T-killer cell activity that may be involved in protection against HIV infection.

``The Company believes this is the first time that an HIV immunogen (such as an HIV particle that can elicit an immune response) has been combined with a
novel adjuvant composed of a DNA sequence that boosts the immune system of animals. Preclinical research indicates that such a vaccine preparation
stimulates the types of cellular immune responses (helper and killer T-cell activity) that are believed to be important in protection against HIV infection,`` said
Ronald B. Moss, M.D., Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs. ``The rationale for our vaccine approach is based on observations from other
researchers that `cell-mediated` immunity is augmented in individuals who are exposed to HIV, but somehow resist infection. It will take significant time and
effort to determine how promising the approach will be for humans.``

The activation of both helper and killer T cells is important in combating viral infection because each cell type plays a unique role in the overall immune defense.
Specifically, helper T cells are the conductors of the immune response and are necessary for the activation of killer T cells, which are themselves capable of
directly killing virus infected cells, Dr. Moss explained.

The apparent ability of this potential preventive vaccine to stimulate helper T cells in animals, also called CD4 cells, was first reported by the Company in the
January 6, 2000 issue of the journal Vaccine. In that publication, Company scientists demonstrated in a non-primate animal model that levels of interferon
gamma from CD4 cells increased most dramatically after vaccination with the vaccine preparation, which included the novel DNA immunostimulant compared
to others without the DNA adjuvant. Interferon gamma is a protein known as a cytokine that modulates important immune system functions such as killer T-cell
activity. DNA immunostimulatory sequences have been shown to stimulate important components of the immune system, particularly killer T cells.

The published study further indicated that vaccination with the HIV immunogen/DNA stimulant resulted in increased beta chemokine production from killer T
cells, also known as CD8 cells. The level of beta chemokine production was shown to be dependent on the amount of adjuvant mixed into the vaccine. Beta
chemokines are `communications molecules` that exhibit strong HIV-suppressive properties. Dr. Moss also presented new preclinical data at the conference in
Israel suggesting the potential vaccine boosts interferon gamma production from CD8 cells.

``One challenge to designing a preventive HIV vaccine is that the immune system of an uninfected person has not been `primed` against HIV and may therefore
require a vaccination capable of eliciting a stronger immune response than for an infected individual who already has a pool of `memory` immune cells more
readily activated against the virus. Our preclinical studies indicate that the addition of a DNA adjuvant to whole-killed HIV in Incomplete Freund`s Adjuvant
may enhance both CD4 and CD8 T cell immune responses against HIV,`` said Dr. Moss. ``We further believe that our HIV immunogen, because of its
previously demonstrated broad immunoreactivity to different strains of HIV, may be the prototype to test as a preventive vaccine in a global population where
many subtypes of HIV exist.``
