Die Billboard-Collection dürfte auch bekannt sein, mit mit Christmas Blues von Canned Heat und ein paar “irren” Stücken, z.B. ein Sketch von Cheech and Chong



Ansonsten viel "Altes", vielleicht ist was Brauchbares dabei: Von den Beach Boys bzw. von Brian Wilson gibt’s ein paar gute Christmas Songs, sind allerdings Traditionals, die aber recht frisch klingen :

@cambo: da hast du eins meiner allerliebsten weihnachtslieder erwischt...
das bringt mich gleich auf eine idee – denn auf der offiziellen „best of rock christmas“ cd, die ich habe (mit den üblichen verdächtigen wie Slade „Merry x-mas everybody“, oder natürlich Chris Rea und John Lennon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Bryan Adams...)
es fehlt nicht nur dieser song von Greg Lake, sondern auch noch einige andere weihnachtsrocksongs – die Kinks zum beispiel mit ihrem fetzigen „Father Christmas“ – natürlich mit den gewohnt bissigen lyrics der boys...
...da habe ich gleich mal an die bastelarbeit gemacht und einen weihnachtsmannsack voll guter weihnachtssongs rausgesucht...

Iguana, jetzt habe ich noch nach einem Weihnachtslied gesucht, das von besagten Damen vielleicht nicht so oft gespielt wurde.
Ich selbst jedenfalls hatte es eigentlich schon fast vergessen.

Das Stück war vor genau 30 Jahren ein Solohit des Sängers und Gitarristen von Emmerson, Lake And Palmer, klingt dementsprechend etwas bombastisch, was wohl aber auch daran liegt, dass am Ende des Songs ein wenig "Sergei Prokofiew" verwendet wurde.

...übrigens habe ich gestern auf der website von Midge Ure auch seine konzertplaylisten gefunden – er hat auch oft ein weihnachtslied in seinem set gehabt an dem er als teilhaber des „live-aid“ projektes auch beteiligt war (im original von Band Aid aufgenommen und von Midge Ure gemeinsam mit Bob Geldof geschrieben) – „Do They Know Its Christmas(Feed The World)“...

…letzte woche gab es mal wieder eine ausgabe von Hugo Egon Balders “Hit Giganten” auf Sat1 – dieses mal waren die beliebtesten “Lovesongs” an der reihe…

...dabei gab es live im studio ein wiedersehen mit dem überraschend hoch platzierten Midge Ure, der ja bereits eine lange karriere mit höhen und tiefen vorzuweisen hat. zuerst begegnete er mir als sänger der teeniebopper „Slik“ bei Mal Sondocks Discothek im WDR mit dem hit „Forever and ever“ – dann half er als gitarrist bei Thin Lizzy aus(wer dort spielt muss auf jeden fall ein guter sein...) bevor er seine wohl beste zeit in den 80igern mit Ultravox erlebte – einen rattenschwanz voll mit hits und ohrwürmern hinterherziehend... – nebenbei nicht zu vergessen bei Visage das legendäre „Fade To Grey“...
...und gleich seine erste solosingle nach Ultravox war dann der große wurf, den er auch bei Hit-Giganten gespielt hat „If I Was“...

....samstag abend habe ich den film „Herr Lehmann“ gesehen nach dem buch von EoC sänger Sven Regener. Die crew hat sich ja große mühe gegeben die original szenerie kurz vor der wende hinzubekommen in ambiente, musik und so weiter. Lustigerweise klebte aber auf der theke von der kneipe ein Metallica Sticker, dessen logo erst mitte der 90iger entworfen wurde...
besonders begeistert hat mich die musik, insbesondere die westbammix version des klassikers von Fad Gadget alias Frank Tovey (R.I.P.) von „Collapsing New People“
