90 MW Auftrag aus Brasilien
By Teis Jensen
COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Only four out of 10 analysts surveyed by Reuters expected Danish wind turbine maker Vestas to meet its guidance for order intake and operating profit this year.
Five out of the 10 expected the company to miss its forecast for a full-year order intake of 7,000-8,000 megawatts (MW) of turbines and for a margin on earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 7 percent.
Despite doubts about the EBIT margin and orders, seven out of the 10 analysts said they expected Vestas to reach its 2011 revenue guidance of 7 billion euros ($10 billion), as most of the revenue is in the backlog of orders.
Three expected it to miss its revenue guidance.
The company's first-quarter order intake of 630 MW fell short of a forecast for 857 MW in a Reuters poll in May. The company has clinched more orders since its first-quarter report, and, year-to-date, has announced orders for 2,221 MW, making analysts skeptical about the full-year guidance.
Vestas only discloses 'firm and unconditional' orders but bases its expectations on conditional orders it expects to be confirmed.
"We have a good and clear picture of what lies out there in orders for us, and that means that we are very confident of reaching (the guidance)," Vestas spokesman Michael Holm said.
Holm said a new 2012-14 framework deal with French renewable energy group EDF Energies Nouvelles, which Vestas has said could yield 2,000 MW in orders demonstrated that large energy groups trust in Vestas.
One analyst said, however, that persistent difficulties in energy project financing raised the risk that the order intake forecast could be undershot.
COST SAVINGS
Asked how Vestas would achieve its EBIT margin target of 7 percent in 2011, Holm said the company was cutting costs.
"When you look at Vestas this year in comparison with last year, we have closed several factories and shed some colleagues. So, that means that we have a lighter set-up than last year," he said. "We believe that will help us on the EBIT margin."
The first-quarter EBIT margin was negative 6.5 percent, and in May the company forecast a break-even operating result for the first half. January-June results were due on August 17.
Nine out of the 10 analysts surveyed said they expected Vestas to remain an independent company in 12 months time.
Analysts from the following banks and brokerages participated in Reuters survey: Bryan Garnier & Co, Carnegie, Commerzbank, Exane BNP Paribas, Jyske Bank, Macquarie Research, Nykredit Markets, Sanford Bernstein, Societe Generale, and Sydbank.

Bin jetzt komplett raus.

Also KGV 8, nicht 16!
