Jetzt 54K drüber gehandelt. Das kann kein Zufall sein. Konnte bisher nichts neues in Erfahrung bringen. Denke, da kauft jemand gezielt an der Heimatbörse ein. Vorher hatten wir ähnliches Volumen auch in Berlin. Dies ist jetzt nicht der Fall. Vielleicht kommt bald was zum IPO.

      Good luck

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Q Who owns the Islands?
A They are a British Overseas Territory, and have autonomy for all aspects of life except defence and foreign affairs.

Q What are the water depths offshore?
A They range from <200m to about 550m in the North Falkland Basin, and up to 3,000m or so in the Southern Basins.

Q Was the 1982 war about oil?
A Emphatically, No. The UK Government was responding to its policy view that the Islanders should have the right to self-determination; the Islanders overwhelmingly wish to remain British.

Q Shouldn’t the area be written off because the 6 wells in 1998 failed?
A It’s a common misconception that they failed. Five of the six wells had oil and/or gas shows, one recovered live oil to surface, one encountered significant gas. Post-mortem analyses suggest that only one play type was drilled. It was on the worst possible migration route, above a regional seal. There is a proven, world-class source rock, plus other petroleum systems. There are numerous untested play concepts, targets and reservoir levels. Exploration in the basin is in its infancy.

Q What do you mean, “exploration in the basin is in its infancy?”
A Only six wells have been drilled, all in a very tight grouping, all aimed at the same play, and all drilled back to back from a single rig. That’s 6 wells in an area more than half the size of Texas! There’s a lot to play for yet.

Q Isn’t the weather too harsh for oil exploration?
A No, not at all. Seismic surveying can be conducted for most of the year. Particularly in the North Falkland Basin, which is where we have the only experience, drilling is simple and straightforward, and almost unaffected by weather and currents.

Q What are the drilling conditions like?
A Quick and easy. A 3,000m dry hole can be drilled in about 20 days. Drilling rates are high, there are no unusual near-bottom currents and no known gas hazards.

Q I hear the 1998 wells were expensive. Why, and could wells be drilled cheaper?
A The 1998 wells were expensive because a rig was towed from the North Sea at very high day rates. There is no requirement to use a North Sea rig here. We have analysed the safety management systems of rigs available more locally, and they all appear fit to work here. The fast drilling rates achievable in the area mean that wells should be relatively inexpensive.

      Good luck

      Guten Tag,

      es tut sich wieder was.

Aus dem Mineral Resources Committee Meeting:

Falkland Oil & Gas Limited : Listing on AIM

An announcement was made of 20 August 2004 about Falkland Oil & Gas Limited listing on AIM. Members welcomed this action and wished the company well in its endeavours to raise additional funds for exploration offshore.

Derek Reeves was representing this newly formed company while in the Islands over the next two weeks.

      6. Marketing visit to Canada and USA

The Mineral Resources Department would be considering a marketing strategy for 2005. Meanwhile Desire Petroleum’s 3D seismic data had been fast-tracked and a number of companies in the USA and Canada were keen to view it. The Committee supported a proposal for Dr Phil Richards to accompany a Desire Petroleum representative on a marketing tour in late September.

      7. Date of next meeting

The next meeting will be convened in October once the results are back from Dr Richards tour in the USA & Canada.

      FALKLANDS OIL PROSPECTS:

Several North American companies have expressed an interest in Falklands oil exploration, the Mineral Resources Committee heard this morning. Phil Richards of the British Geological Survey is to accompany Desire Petroleum on a marketing tour later this month to encourage more interest. The committee approved funding for the trip this morning. The tour comes after Desire Petroleum completed a 3-D seismic Survey of the North Falkland Basin, the preliminary results of which have been interpreted and are said to be encouraging. The trip for marketing the data will first go to Huston Texas, where around 8 companies have already expressed an interest and then move on to Canada where two other companies have enquired about oil prospects in the Falklands. Also at the meeting, Phyl Rendell gave an update on progress to the Geological guide to the Falklands that is being compiled at the moment. She said she hoped the book would be ready for print by Christmas and would provide good information for this year’s tourist season. So far, the book will consist of around 50 pages and will cost less than £10.00. Phil Stone from the British Geological Survey, Emma Edwards and Former BGS expert Don Elders have been working on the text and illustrations. Phyl said a draft copy would be brought to the committee before it goes to print, hopefully in the next month or two.

Dazu ein Info um wenn es sich bei Mr. Phil Richards handelt:

      Petroleum and Marine Geology
      The Falkland Islands
The British Geological Survey has, since 1992, been undertaking geological evaluations of the onshore and offshore areas of the Falklands on behalf of the Falkland Islands Government. The BGS works closely with the Department of Mineral Resources, and BGS geologists are seconded for short periods to the Department`s offices in Stanley, the capital of the Falklands. All Falklands exploration data are archived at the BGS`s Scottish office and Core Store.

The onshore work is directed at better understanding the geological framework of the islands, and the location of any industrial, semi-precious or precious mineral resources, as well as the provision of advice on aspects such as water supply, infrastructure development, etc. The offshore work has been focused on the search for oil and gas, and the promotion of exploration opportunities to the international oil companies. The BGS also advises the Falkland Islands Government at the Joint Commission for Hydrocarbons Exploration in the SW Atlantic, a diplomatic working group set up to foster co-operation with Argentina over oil exploration and development in the region.

      Contacts
The Falkland Islands Project Manager is Phil Richards and more information can be had by contacting him. Information on the onshore geology is available from Phil Stone Both can be contacted at:
