      AMERICAN-EXPRESS NEW YORK & PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
American Express Business Travel, a global industry leader in business travel management, today announced a series of recent new customer wins and contract extensions across a broad range of industry groups and geographies. euro adhoc: i:FAO Aktiengesellschaft / Quartals- und Halbjahresbilanz / i:FAO:

      29.04.2008

      (In Tausend Euro)
      Umsatzerlöse steigen +20% auf 2.467 (2.055)
      EBITDA steigt +13,9% auf 775 (681)
      EBIT steigt +5,5% auf 629 (597)
      EAT steigt +0,8% auf 662 (657)

      Weitere Informationen: Eigenkapitalquote 86%

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 33.942.142 von Miro1 am 22.04.08 14:32:29I:FAOs Partner American Express vermittelt Reisen/Tickets Online und Offline; hier sind Amex eigene Worte über die Kostenvorteile Online vs. Offline:

Online bookings and advance purchase tickets are proven to reduce airline expenditures. In fact, American Express Business Travel clients in North America paid $35 less per segment online than offline (i.e. telephonic) and $40 less per segment on 8 to 14 day advance purchases than 0 to 7 day advance purchases during the first six months of 2007. And, in a trend that was predicted in the 2007 forecast, more and more travelers are buying online and in advance.

      Ausblick für 2008:

      2008 Trends in Europe

Europe is narrowing the gap with the United States in terms of online business travel booking and program management. With increased consolidation and globalization, corporations are leveraging economies of scale and viewing online booking as an integral channel within their travel management programs. These firms have demonstrated tangible cost reductions and return on investment by implementing aggressive strategies to drive online adoption. While U.S. multinational companies have led the field in terms of high levels of adoption, larger local firms and maturing markets are contributing to the improved usage of corporate online tools. Many European firms now mirror the increasing trend in the U.S., with travel reporting into procurement, adding renewed rigor to containing costs and improving compliance. Business travel is in a state of growth, and amongst increased concerns of rising costs, corporations rank reducing cost as the highest priority.

Similar to past market drivers in the U.S., online corporate travel in Europe will be impacted by corporations’ increased use of formal policies or mandates to drive adoption. This is also reflective of more corporations embracing tools and techniques of professional travel management and the need for improved control over travel expenditures.

Often the biggest challenge for online booking tool providers is the ability to meet market requirements to design innovative solutions for accessing local content such as low cost carriers and rail. As corporations tighten controls over travel spend, rail is an increasingly attractive economic alternative when compared to air travel. Additionally, as more corporations implement socially responsible eco-policies, rail is viewed as more eco-friendly in terms of reduced carbon emissions. The availability of rail content through GDS systems and online booking tools is supportive of both cost containment and online adoption. Recent developments by GDS companies to integrate rail offerings into universal platforms will further simplify the booking process. In several European countries, such as France, Germany and the UK, accessibility to rail content is a market requirement due to the high rate of rail utilization for business travel. Booking tool providers are continuing to develop solutions to deal with other localized requirements including access to non-GDS content, ground transportation and dynamic discounts.

Online bookings in Northern Europe, specifically the UK, Benelux and Nordic countries, are outpacing Southern Europe. The UK market appears to be reaching maturity, with Scandinavia, France and Germany following. Market readiness in Southern Europe is not as high due to a culture of high-touch service. While Southern Europe appears to be in the early adoptive stage, the region as a whole will continue to experience online growth.
