DNO is pleased to announce that Tawke # 4 produced 8,500 bopd during testing.

Drilling of Tawke # 4 commenced on 14 December 2006, and the well is designed as an oil producer. The well is located 0.8 km north-east of Tawke # 1.

A barefoot (open hole) test was undertaken and the well produced at a maximum flow rate of 8,500 bopd through a 2 inch choke size. Oil samples were taken confirming similar crude oil quality as was produced during testing of Tawke # 1 / 1A and Tawke # 2. The well will now be completed as an oil producer before the rig is moved to the Tawke # 5 location, hence Tawke # 4 is drilled, tested and completed within a period of approximately three weeks.

Tawke # 5 will also be designed as an oil producer and will be located 1.1 km east of the Tawke # 4 well.

Tawke # 3 will be drilled with the same rig which was used drilling Khanke # 1. The well is expected to spud within the first week of January. Tawke # 3 is an exploration / appraisal well to be located at the eastern boundaries of the Tawke area. The well will appraise the main Tawke oil producing interval as well as penetrate some deeper reservoir intervals (> 2,000 meters) which were found oil bearing in Tawke # 1 but not properly tested.

Commenting on the results Managing Director Helge Eide says:

"We are very pleased with Tawke # 4 which has turned out as the best oil producer in the field to date. Credit should also be given to the project team who have delivered this excellent well in a safe and very cost effective manner."

      DNO ASA - Yemen Update

DNO is pleased to announce an update on drilling and testing activities in the Republic of Yemen:

      Block 32 (38,95 % Working Interest)
The Tasour # 23ST exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 3,139 meters and suspended as a potential upper Naifa oil well. Approximately 200 barrels of 27 API oil and 457 barrels of water were recovered from a 10.5 meter perforated interval in the upper Naifa carbonate. The production test was terminated early (17 hours) when the large electrical submersible pump ("ESP") was over-heated.

Well stimulation and horizontal drilling have led to the successful exploitation of the upper Naifa carbonates on other blocks in Yemen. Therefore the initial result on Tasour 23ST is very encouraging. To evaluate the new discovery, DNO is preparing to stimulate the zone with acid, install a smaller ESP and place the well on a long term production test. It is expected that the production test will commence early in 2007, with oil trucked to the Tasour facility for treatment and export.

The Tasour # 23ST exploration well targeted prospects in the Naifa carbonates and fractured Basement. The Tasour # 23 well commenced drilling on September 5, 2006 and encountered drilling problems at 2,586 meters. The well was subsequently plugged back to 852 meters and side tracked. The side track well reached a total depth of 3,139 meters (approximately 300 meters into the Basement) on December 7. Testing was carried out on the Basement and on two separate Naifa carbonate zones. No hydrocarbons were recovered from tests on the Basement and the lower Naifa carbonate. The drilling rig is currently moving to Block 43 (56,67 % Working Interest) to drill an exploration prospect with the Naifa carbonates as the main target (Shaibah # 1).

A second drilling rig completed a two well service program in the Tasour field (a new water injector at Tasour # 24 and a re-completion at Tasour #10) and is scheduled to move to Block 72 (34% Working Interest) to drill Nasim #1. The Nasim # 1 exploration well is located to test prospects in the Qishn sandstones and in the Naifa carbonates and expected to commence drilling in mid January.

      Block 53 (24,45 % Working Interest)
The well Hekma-1 has been drilled to a depth of 3715m in the basement, and testing is currently being undertaken. DST#1 tested open hole basement (from TD at 3715 meters to 7" shoe at 3254 meters), but no flow was achieved. DST# 2 tested Kholan sandstone (3186 - 3199mMD) through 7" liner immediately above the basement. This test gave a stable gross oil rate of 800 barrels per day. Two additional tests are planned in the well; One combined tests of two Madbi sandstone intervals (3022 - 3030 meters and 3001 - 3013 meters), both interpreted as oil bearing from wire line logs, and one test in the Madbi carbonate (2919 - 2930 meters), which yielded good hydrocarbon shows while drilling.

Bayoot South # 1 has been drilled immediately south of Bayoot SW-1 and SW-2 to test a Madbi fan down-flank of the basement high. The current TD is at 3106,6 meters with a 7" casing set at bottom. When drilling 8 ½" hole to TD, the well started to flow oil, and heavy mud was needed to control the well. The well is now suspended awaiting supply of equipment to continue drilling and testing.

The rig utilized to drill Bayoot South # 1 will now be moved north to drill Balal # 1 which is a Qishn prospect north-east of the Sharyoof field.

The Bayoot and Hekma structures are both located on a very prospective basement / Madbi trend between the Sunah field in Block 14 some 14 km to the south east, and the Kahrir field in Block 10 some 15 km to the south west. The Sunah and Kahrir fields have proven to be the most successful basement producing fields in Yemen to date.

From the recent drilling results it is becoming clear that this area in the southern part of Block 53, contains an exciting potential. Out of 4 recent wells drilled within this area, 3 wells have proven oil. Although tests to date has not yielded production rates at levels achieved from the shallower Qishn sandstones, higher production rates could be achieved through other drilling, completion and stimulation techniques.

Commenting on the results Managing Director Helge Eide says:
"DNO's first oil production from the deeper formations in Yemen was achieved from the Nabrajah Field in Block 43. The recent drilling and testing results from the deeper formations in Block 32 and Block 53 are therefore very encouraging, confirming the potential also in other licenses held by DNO in Yemen. This forms a good basis for increased reserves and production from Yemen in the years to come, securing sustainable growth in one of DNO's core areas."

DNO ASA - Northern Iraq - Update

DNO is pleased to announce an update on activities in Northern Iraq:

Agreement for Increased Working Interest in the PSA's:
The agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) whereby DNO will be responsible for 100 % of the funding obligations of the PSA's in return for receiving additional 15 % Working Interest, has now been concluded and signed.

In addition some adjustments have been made to the Dihok PSA area. Some areas at the eastern boarder have been removed in return for receiving some new acreage to the south. Another area has also been relinquished and no further relinquishments will be required until June 2011.

It is still very early in the exploration stage of the PSA area's, and a number of additional prospects & leads, which will be further investigated through exploration drilling, have been identified.

      Tawke Early Production Plan
The Tawke Early Production Plan is based on the successful results achieved from Tawke # 1 / 1A and Tawke # 2 wells.

Modifications of the Central Processing Facilities (CPF) have been completed and the CPF will now be transported to the Tawke area for installation and commissioning.

Installation of the pipeline which will connect the Tawke oil production to the main northern pipeline has also commenced, and approximately 8 km has been installed of a total of 42 km.

As previously reported, the CPF has the capacity to deliver approximately 50,000 bopd of the Tawke crude oil quality. As a result of this DNO will accelerate development drilling within the Tawke area. The full rig capacity (3 rigs) will be dedicated for the most part of 2007 to Tawke. A total of 18 development wells are planned to be drilled in 2007, which includes both oil producers and water injectors.

      Drilling Status:

      Tawke # 2:
Tawke # 2 was drilled as an appraisal well on the Tawke field. The well is located some 2 km to the west of the Tawke # 1 discovery well.

As previously reported, Tawke # 2 tested the same reservoir interval which flowed 5,000 bopd in Tawke # 1 and 1A. The Tawke # 2 well flowed 3,840 bopd, confirming good reservoir quality also at this location. Testing of an underlaying carbonate formation was also undertaken, but no oil flow rates were achieved. Tawke # 2 is now completed as an oil producer.

The rig has now moved to the Tawke # 4 location some 0.8 km to the north-east of Tawke # 1. Tawke # 4 will be drilled as a dedicated oil producer.

      Khanke # 1:
Khanke # 1 has been drilled to a total depth of 3,551 meters. Testing was undertaken in three individual intervals which had hydrocarbon shows while drilling, but no oil flow was achieved. As Kanke # 1 is located within the Dihok PSA area, the well costs are recoverable from future Tawke oil production under the cost oil entitlement.

The rig will now be moved to the Tawke # 3 well site on the Tawke structure. This well is an exploration / appraisal well at the eastern extension of the Tawke area. This well will penetrate both the oil producing interval confirmed by Tawke # 1 / 1A and Tawke # 2, as well as the deeper intervals which where proved to be oil bearing in Tawke # 1, but not properly tested. If oil bearing intervals are confirmed and commercial flow rates are achieved, then Tawke # 3 will be completed as an oil producer.

      Mobilizing the third Rig:
A third drilling rig will be mobilized to the Tawke area at the beginning of 2007. This will be a smaller carrier rig capable of drilling production wells as well as undertake work-overs, well repair and maintenance. The rig will commence operations at Tawke # 1 where some deeper reservoir intervals (> 2,000 meters) will be flow tested. Thereafter the rig will be used for development drilling across the Tawke Field.

      Seismic activities:
Following completion of the 3D seismic campaign completed in October 2006, a further 2D seismic acquisition campaign (77 km) was completed across the Erbil PSA area. DNO plan to carry out an additional 300 km of 2D seismic within the Dihok PSA once the winter season has ended in Q1 2007.

Commenting on the results Managing Director Helge Eide says:
"With the significant progress that has been made on the Tawke Early Production project, we should be ready to produce the first oil from Tawke during first quarter of next year. Achieving this important near term target will mark another important milestone to KRG and DNO."

      DNO ASA - Well 7122/7-5 - GOLIAT

Well 7122/7-5 is drilled as an exploration well on the western structure on the Goliat Field.

The well penetrated 4 reservoir targets. Preliminary results indicate no movable hydrocarbon bearing sands within any of these reservoir units.

Planned operations forward are to plug the well to the current casing shoe prior to perform a sidetrack operation into another fault segment.

The Goliat oil discovery has been confirmed by previous wells in the central and southern area, and is located 85 km north-west of Hammerfest and 50 km southeast of the Snøhvit field and the drilling is being undertaken by the semi-submersible drilling rig "Polar Pioneer". The water depth is 371 meters and the well was drilled to a total depth of 2228 meters.

A final press release will be issued after completion of the well.

Gerade in Norwegen. Mehr als die Hälffte der Explorationsausgaben flossen dieses Jahr wieder nach Norwegen. Wenn diese Felder erstmal angezapft werden und´s im Iraq endlich sprudelt müsste es auch mit den Gewinnen endlich klappen.
