DNO ASA - November Production Update

      Working Interest

DNO achieved an oil production (Working Interest) of 13,826 barrels per day in November 2006.

For the first eleven months of 2006 DNO's oil production was 15,025 barrels per day, which is up 4% from 2005.

DNO's oil production (WI) for November and the first eleven months of 2006 was as follows (bopd):

      November 06 YTD 06
      Norway 918 1,014
      Yemen 12,908 14,011

      Total 13,826 15,025

The WI production to DNO from Yemen in November was down by 717 bopd compared to October. This was due to expected decline in production from the latest well on the Tasour Field (Tasour # 22ST), some well work at the Sharyoof Field and commissioning work at the Nabrajah Field.

DNO's production from the Glitne Field was stable compared to October.

      Net Entitlement

In its mandatory financial statements, DNO presents its operations governed by Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs) according to the net entitlement method. For DNO, use of this method implies that the production in Yemen is presented net of government take, but including a portion assigned to cover DNO's corporate tax.

For the first time in its monthly production reports, DNO is pleased to present estimates on monthly net entitlement production. These estimates are provided to shareholders and investors in order to facilitate analysis of the company's revenue development, as presented in DNO's mandatory financial statements. It should be noted that the monthly net entitlement production figures represent preliminary estimates that may be subject to revision.

      Estimated Net Entitlement Production (bopd)

      October 06 November 06 YTD 06
      Norway 962 918 1,014
      Yemen 7,658 7,008 8,261

      Total 8,620 7,926 9,275

The production figures (WI and net entitlement) include crude oil consumed in the operation of the Tasour Field, at a volume of approximately 160 bopd.

      Tactical Report - 20/11/06

DNO shows flexibility to settle problems with the Iraqi Oil Ministry

Sources close to the Iraqi government says Norwegian oil company Det Norske Oljeselskap (DNO) is showing more flexibility to settle its differences with the Oil Ministry over its investment projects in Kurdistan.

In fact, the sources add, the issue is not with DNO or with other foreign oil companies investing in Kurdistan. It is rather with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

However, these sources advise DNO not to make any miscalculation or bet the central government in Baghdad is weak and cannot oppose the KRG oil policy.

According to these sources, the Oil Ministry does not plan at present any legal action against foreign oil companies active in Kurdistan. It prefers rather to wait for the Iraqi Parliament to pass a new oil investment law.

Note that DNO is investing in Tawke-1 and Tawke-2 oilfields in Zakho in Kurdistan and expects production to begin in the first quarter of next year

DNO sees no threat to Kurdish deal

      By Upstream staff

Norwegian oil producer DNO sees no threat to its output contract in northern Iraq as the Kurdish and central governments tussle for control of oil, the company's chief executive said today.

"Nobody in central government has told us they are concerned about the legality of these contracts," Helge Eide told reporters in London.

DNO was the first company to drill for oil in Iraq after the US-led invasion in March 2003. It intends to start output in the country's north in the first quarter next year under a production-sharing agreement it signed with the Kurdish regional government (KRG), Reuters reported.

But Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain Shahristani has insisted on central control of oil and says he wants to review deals the Kurds have signed with foreign oil companies, including DNO.

DNO has discussed the production agreements with Iraqi government officials and has not been informed of any objections to the contracts, Eide said.

"We have had several meetings with people from central government on these issues and there has been no communication back to us of any problems," he said.

Like many other oil companies eyeing potentially lucrative future production deals, DNO has a deal with central government to train oil ministry personnel and share technology, Eide said.

The KRG has offered to share its oil revenue with Baghdad, he said, and he expected the two to come to some agreement.

The main sticking point for a policy committee drawing up a draft oil law for Iraq is whether development contracts would be signed at a regional or national level.

The issue is critical to whether more power over resources will go to the Kurds and the majority Shi'ites, who populate the oil-rich south. Minority Sunni Arabs fear regional devolution will leave them with nothing.

Exports of DNO oil from its 50,000 barrels-per-day Tawke field in northern Iraq will be pumped through the northern export pipeline to Turkey.

But to use the pipeline, KRG will have to come to an agreement on transit fees with central government.

Eide said that he was confident KRG would strike a deal.

But there is no readily available alternative export route, so if the deal is not struck DNO would have to put back the start-up date.

"We have to rely on KRG to ensure this is in place," he said. "According to our understanding they are making good progress."

DNO will build a 50-kilometre pipeline from Tawke to connect to the northern pipeline to export the oil. The connection will be far to the north of the sections of the line that have suffered repeated sabotage, Eide said.

The northern pipeline has been mostly unusable for exports from the Kirkuk oilfields to Turkey due to sabotage attacks since the invasion.

DNO ASA - Status - Operations in Northern Iraq

DNO ASA (DNO.NO) is pleased to release a status report on the Company's operations in Northern Iraq:

      Highlights:

      - Tawke # 2 tested 3,840 bopd and has confirmed the western extension of the Tawke oil discovery. Preliminary results from the well indicate increased reserves

      - The pipeline and Central Processing Facilities secured for Tawke early production development is capable of delivering approximately 50,000 bopd

      - The Khanke # 1 well has reached a depth of approximately 3,000 meters, and currently two tests are planned to be undertaken

      - DNO is in the process of finalising an agreement with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to increase its working interest in the PSA's by 15 % to 55 % in return for providing 100 % funding of the project costs (carry)

      Drilling Status and Results

      Tawke # 2:

Tawke # 2 was drilled as an appraisal well of the Tawke oil discovery. The well is located some 2 km to the west of Tawke # 1 discovery well. Tawke # 2 has to date penetrated and tested the same reservoir interval which tested 5,000 bopd in Tawke # 1 and 1A. The Tawke # 2 well flowed 3,840 bopd, confirming good reservoir quality also at this location. The test production results achieved from Tawke # 1, 1A and Tawke # 2 are undertaken under different well completion environments. The Company believes that there is potential for improvements in the individual well production capacity by optimising the completion and well stimulation techniques.

The discovery well, Tawke # 1 is located closer to the crest of the structure, and preliminary evaluation indicated 330 million barrels of oil in place (ref Stock Exchange Notice of June 12, 2006). Applying a recovery factor of 30 % the P50 gross recoverable oil reserves were estimated at 100 million barrels (40 million barrels net to DNO, pre-tax).

The Tawke # 2 results confirm the western extension of the Tawke structure, and the preliminary evaluations completed to date of the zone tested by Tawke # 1 / 1A and Tawke # 2, indicate that the reserves related to this reservoir zone alone, may be higher than the above original estimates. However, further work is required to revise the reserve figures, including interpretation of the new 3-D seismic and a remapping of the Tawke structure. Tawke # 2 has also yet to penetrate and test additional shallow reservoir levels.

      Khanke # 1:

A second drilling rig was mobilized into the PSA area during July. The rig is currently drilling at the Khanke prospect (Khanke # 1). The well has now reached approximately 3,000 meters, and based on the results to date the plan is to undertake two production tests. Before the testing will be undertaken the well will be further deepened to a total depth of approximately 3,500 meters.

      Tawke Early Production Plan

The reservoir interval which tested 5,000 BOPD in Tawke # 1 and 1A, and 3,840 bopd in Tawke # 2 forms the basis for the Early Production Plan for the Tawke oil discovery. The development plan has now been approved by Kurdistan Regional. Government. First oil production is planned during first quarter of 2007.

Pipeline and Central Processing Facilities (CPF) have been secured for the Tawke early production development. Following modifications of the CPF, feasibility studies based on the Tawke crude quality confirm that the pipeline and CPF have the capacity to deliver approximately 50,000 bopd.

As a result of this positive news, DNO plans to accelerate development drilling within the Tawke area, and a third smaller rig will be mobilized into the Tawke area at the beginning of 2007. The second larger drilling rig currently drilling at the Khanke # 1 location may also be mobilized into the Tawke area after completion of Khanke # 1 and one further exploration well. The impact of re-scheduling the drilling plans means that a total of three drilling rigs could be in operation within the Tawke area during a substantial part of 2007.

Agreement for Increasing the Working Interest in the PSA's.

DNO currently holds a 40 % working interest in two PSA's: The Dihok PSA including the Tawke oil discovery in the northern part of Iraqi Kurdistan, and the Erbil PSA further to the south.

Subject to an agreement which is in the process of being finalized with the KRG, DNO will be responsible for 100 % of the funding obligations of the PSA's in return for receiving additional 15 % Working Interest. The exploration and development expenditures to date are primarily related to the Dihok PSA, and these costs are expected to be fully recovered in 2007, if first oil is achieved in accordance with the current Tawke early production plan.

Commenting on the results Managing Director Helge Eide says:

"The results from Tawke # 2 are very encouraging and confirm the robustness of the Tawke development. We have made significant progress with this project during the last few months and we are on schedule to achieve our important near term target to produce the first oil from Tawke during first quarter of next year. This will mark another important milestone to KRG and DNO."

Commenting on the results the KRG Natural Resources Minister, Dr. Ashti A. Hawrami says:

"We are delighted by the Tawke # 2 well results, confirming the production potential of the western extension of the structure and the possibility of higher oil reserves in the field. We are pleased with DNO's dedicated and professional work in the Kurdistan Region and we are committed to provide them with all the assistance needed to facilitate early oil exports from this first post-war oil discovery to generate a new source of income for all the people of Iraq. "
