      Laut meiner Info soll der Wagen doch in einem Geely Werk weitergebaut werden. Möglicherweise läuft der wagen das zusammen mit dem zukünftigen EC9 vom Band.

      Spy Shots: Volvo XC Classic is the Chinese Volvo XC90

      Back in March we reported that production of the current Volvo XC90 will move to China when production of the all-new 2015 Volvo XC90 starts in Sweden. We have new info.

      The vehicle will be called ‘Volvo XC Classic’, production will start in the second half of this year and launch on the China car market in scheduled for December. Only available engine will be the 2.5 turbo ‘T5′ tuned up to 220hp. On the photos a very early China-made pre-production car.

      The Volvo XC Classic will be manufactured in a new Geely-funded factory in Daqing in Heilongjiang Province. The XC Classic will be offered as a budget-large SUV. The 2015 Volvo XC90 will be imported into China starting early next year, meaning China will have two XC90′s at the same time.

      An there will be even more! Geely will use the XC Classic platform for an SUV of its own, which is expected to launch late next year.

      Noch mal eine Frage wegen der Holding Aktie und Volvo. Wie wirkt sich Der G und V von Volvo auf unsere Aktie aus? Könnte mir vorstellen das hier schon ausreichend besprochen wurde, aber ich würde mich über eine kurze präzise Antwort freuen.

      Die 0,26-0,27 scheinen ja zu halten. Ich wollte letzte Woche groß nachkaufen, aber meine Order zu 0,25 wurde nicht bedient.
      Mal sehen , ob ich mich freuen oder ärgern muss.

      @blumstar: Nein, Volvo gehört NICHT zu dem Teil von Geely, dessen Aktien gehandelt werden. Das Risiko und den Erfolg von Volvo trägt/erhält Herr Shufu mit seinen Investorpartnern alleine.

      @Awatek: Danke für das Bild :)....für mich die klare Linie von Volvo, eben halt Horbury ;)...erinnert mich ein bischen an den V40 ;)....sieht aber für mich Klasse aus :)...mit dem EC9 und diesem Fahrzeug ist für mich Geely endlich von der Qualität und dem Design her in der großen Runde der ernstzunehmenden Autoherteller angekommen. Jetzt muss diese neue Generation von Geely-Fahrzeugen nur noch das halten, was sie versprechen ;)...

      @Sangonr: Das neue Emgrand-Logo in blau gefällt mir wesentlich besser...vielleicht eine Homage an das Geely-Firmenemblem, in dem die Farbe "Blau" auch dominiert ;)...Das zumindest die Marke "Emgrand" nicht stirbt macht für mich auch Sinn, da ja der Erfog von Geely wesentlich über diese Marke läuft und im Ausland man nur diese Marke von Geely sieht...s. den GX7, der zum EX7 im Export wird...selbst der Panda bekommt für den Export das Emgrand-Emblem ;)

      Man scheint bei Geely realistischer geworden zu sein ;)...ab 2019 will man 1,2 Millionen Fahrzeuge pro Jahr verkaufen....in den letzten Jahren wollte man noch 2 Millionen/a ab 2015 verkaufen :D...

      BEIJING, April 18 (Reuters) - Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd , whose parent company owns Swedish carmaker Volvo, announced on Friday a plan to phase out its three brands and consolidate them under the Geely name as part of a restructuring effort to shore up sales and cut costs.

      Geely, controlled by Li Shufu, the Chinese billionaire who acquired Volvo in 2010 through Geely's parent company, currently sells cars in China under the Emgrand, Gleagle and Englon brands through three different sales channels.

      Under the new structure, future products will be marketed under the Geely brand name, executives told a news conference on Friday ahead of the Beijing auto show, which opens on Sunday.

      "The new brand strategy is our strategic response to market needs based on the realities of the company's development," said An Conghuipresident of parent Zhejiang Geely Holding Group .

      "We will centralise our resources and leverage economies of scale," An said.

      As part of restructuring which began last year the Hangzhou-based automaker has been streamlining its retail sales network which currently has more than 900 dealers.

      The latest restructuring might result in a smaller number of dealers, executives said on Friday, though they did not provide specific details.

      Some of the moves Geely announced on Friday were previously reported by Reuters and other media outlets after the company told dealers of its intention to restructure sales and marketing operations.

      By overhauling the brand strategy and streamlining its dealer network, Geely is aiming to reinvigorate sales which have lost momentum since 2009 when the company adopted the multiple-brand strategy.

      Geely plans to sell about 1.2 million vehicles by 2019, Sun Xiaodong, vice president of parent Geely Group, told the news conference, more than doubling from an expected 580,000 this year.

      Geely sales increased by 59 percent in 2009, but its annual growth has slowed to around 15 percent in the past two years.

      In 2013, Geely's sales of 549,468 were up 14 percent, the company said.

      Sales volumes have fallen 37 percent during the first three months of this year, with An attributing the dismal performance to the ongoing restructuring.

      Geely's situation is similar to the plight other indigenous Chinese car brands.

      While China's automobile market, the world's biggest, is rebounding with about 10 percent growth expected this year, indigenous brands as a whole are losing market share amid competition from foreign rivals such as Ford Motor Co, Volkswagen AG and General Motors Co.

      Chery Automobile Co Ltd and BYD Co Ltd have taken similar restructuring measures to focus their resources on a fewer number of brands or sales channels in a bid to save money in development, manufacturing and marketing.

      In 2009, Geely launched what was intended as a "medium-to-high-end" brand of cars in China called Emgrand targeting more well-to-do people. Shortly afterwards it created the Englon and Gleagle brands.

      At the time, domestic carmakers sought to shore up their brand image and divided their product portfolio into multiple brands of low-end "no-frills" cars and more upscale, higher-image vehicles.

      Gleagle was meant to be Geely's entry brand, while Englon stood between Emgrand and Gleagle.

      Li Shufu Says Three-Brand Approach Was Beyond Its Capability

      BEIJING—Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Chairman Li Shufu said Saturday his Chinese mass-market auto brand Geely can use technology from his Volvo brand and a newly streamlined brand strategy to get back on track for growth after a sharp sales drop in the first quarter.

      Mr. Li, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, said Geely "made some detours and made mistakes," but "now is the time to mend our fence. Now we're on the right track."

      On Friday, Geely said it was scrapping its three separate brands—Emgrand, Gleagle and Englon—in favor of a single Geely brand. The move essentially reverses a 2009 decision to adopt the multiple-brand approach.

      The three-brand approach meant Geely had to develop vehicles in three different categories. "It was beyond our capability to manage such a big portfolio," Mr. Li said.

      Mr. Li said Geely and Volvo, the Swedish luxury brand he acquired from Ford Motor Co. F -0.44% in 2010, are working on building a common platform for the development of smaller cars and may use the architecture of Volvo's large sports-utility vehicle, the XC90, as the basis for other models, including a large sedan for the Chinese market.

      "I hope in the future more products based on the platform will be launched," Mr. Li said.

      He also said Volvo plans to launch a China-built S60L long-wheel base plug-in hybrid sedan.

      Mr. Li said he is looking to Volkswagen VOW3.XE +1.08% for inspiration for how best to manage collaboration between the upmarket Volvo brand and the mass-market Geely operation.

      "The Volkswagen group has done a great job," Mr. Li said, citing how the German auto maker shares research, technology and procurement platforms across its brands—including Audi, NSU.XE -0.27% Skoda, Porsche and Bentley —while maintaining strict distinctions among the models within each brand. "We want to learn the German model from Volkswagen."

      Geely will remake its brand strategy over the next three years. New vehicles produced by the company will bear the Geely name. When existing products phase out, their new generations will be badged Geely.

      Mr. Li said Geely had involved Volvo's management in its brand restructuring, which is aimed at "breathing new life" into the Geely brand in China.

      About a year ago, Geely's major rival, Chery Automobile Co., announced it was scrapping its multibrand approach in favor of a single brand.

      Like other private Chinese auto makers, Geely is facing headwinds as foreign car makers produce more cars in China, avoiding costly tariffs, and expand distribution networks in China's interior, areas once considered the demesne of homegrown Chinese car makers.

      As a group, the overall share of Chinese brands in the passenger-car market, including minivans, fell to 38.7% in the first three months of this year, down from 43.3% in the year-earlier period, according to government-backed industry group the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

      Geely's Hong Kong listed unit reported sales of 89,607 vehicles in the first quarter, down about 37%. Geely's export volume dropped 55% to 6,829 cars in the first two months of this year. It exports cars to Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egypt.

      Geely's growth target for this year is lower for than growth seen in 2013. It aims to sell 580,000 cars this year, up 5.6%, compared with the 14% rise in 2013. The company has said it aims to double the sales volume to 1.2 million cars by 2019.

      Smaller Chinese brands such as Geely face growing pressure from larger, global brands which have can spread the costs of technology to enhance safety or fuel efficiency across much larger sales volumes.

      International auto makers are using this week's Beijing International Auto Show to spotlight their plans for expansion in the world's largest car market. Volkswagen officials on Saturday outlined ambitious plans to boost Chinese production for their brands, including Volkswagen and Audi, and said they aim to have 3,600 dealers across China, up from about 2,750 projected for this year. Ford Motor Co. said that by 2016 it expects to have 60 dealerships in 50 Chinese cities for its Lincoln luxury brand, a competitor to Volvo in the luxury segment.

      Analysts say a key challenge is for companies such as Geely is to create auto brands that strike a chord with Chinese consumers.

      Jonah Brown, group account director with brand consultancy Millward Brown, said Chinese car makers are "really deficient" in nurturing brands. "Chinese are building cars, not brands," he said.

      Mr. Li is hoping to create a brand that commands consumers' respect.

      "Through technology cooperation between Geely and Volvo and through the common development of the modular platform, I hope we can enhance brand visibility in the marketplace," he said.

      Creating a strong brand hinges on getting a number of factors right, including product quality, technology and service, Mr. Li said. ""I think it is a long, complicated and arduous process.
