Revenue adversely impacted by weakening US dollar
- Refinancing and increase in loan facilities as a consequence of the
takeover transaction impact first half of 2011
Schiphol/Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 28 July 2011 - Teleplan International
N.V. (ISIN: NL0000229458), the leading global provider of high-tech
after-market services for the Computer, Communications and Consumer
Electronics industries today announced its results for the first half of
2011.
Teleplan revenues amounted to 136.9 million euro in the period under review
(H1/2010: 141.0 million euro) representing a decrease of 2.9%. Revenue was
adversely impacted by a 6.9% weakening of the US dollar. EBITDA fell by
32.1% from 15.8 million euro to 10.7 in the first half of 2011. Operating
income (EBIT) for the period under review was 8.3 million euro (H1/2010:
13.7 million euro) representing an EBIT margin of 6.1%. As a result of the
public takeover by AMS Acquisition B.V. (Gilde) being settled in March 2011
a refinancing and a substantial increase in loan facilities has been
achieved causing an increase in net finance expenses. As a consequence
earnings before tax (EBT) and net income declined. Net profit for the first
half of 2011 was 2.2 million euro compared with 8.9 million euro for the
same period last year. Consequently, earnings per share were 0.04 euro
(H1/2010: 0.15 euro).
Strong performance in the Communications segment
A slow-down in the Computer segment and lower rates of product failure in
the Consumer Electronics segment have both contributed to the overall
revenue reduction in the first six months of 2011. Revenue in the Computer
segment came in with 59.5 million euro in the first half of 2011 compared
to 62.4 million euro last year. The Consumer Electronics revenue was 29.1
million euro in the period under review (H1/2010: 32.4 million euro). This
has been partly mitigated by a 4.5% revenue growth in the Communications
segment to 48.4 million euro in the first six months of 2011 (H1/2010: 46.3
million euro).
Lower equity ratio reflects public takeover by Gilde
In the first six months of 2011 cash generated from operations amounted to
7.5 million euro, down from 11.2 million euro for the same period in 2010.
Net cash from operations after financial expenses and income taxes for the
quarter was 5.7 million euro compared with 7.3 million euro for the same
period in 2010.
Total equity decreased by 59.1 million euro to 13.0 million euro at 30 June
2011 compared to 72.0 million euro end of 2010. The decrease mainly
reflects the distribution of 56.3 million euro to Teleplan shareholders in
March 2011. The equity ratio decreased to 8.7% compared to 44.7% at 31
December 2010.
