AURELIUS acquires information systems activity of Thales España
Munich/Madrid, 6 February, 2012 - German AURELIUS Group (ISIN:
DE000A0JK2A8) has acquired Thales Information Systems S.A.U. (thereafter:
Thales CIS), a subsidiary of Thales España. Thales CIS is a key player in
the IT market in Spain and Argentina, providing a range of IT services
which include development, installation and support of software and
software tools to support clients in the management of their day-to-day
business. Furthermore the company provides technical assistance and
maintenance services, along with specialist advice and services in areas
such as IT security and IT mobility as well as process consulting in
targeted key sectors. Thales CIS generated revenues of roughly 45 million
euros in 2011.
The agreement was closed today and entails the transfer of all shares in
Thales CIS including the shares of Thales CIS subsidiary in Argentina to
AURELIUS. After the purchase of Thales Information Systems in Germany back
in 2008 (today: Consinto GmbH) this is the second acquisition from Thales.
Recently AURELIUS also announced the acquisition of the activities of the
IT service provider Getronics from Dutch KPN in seven European countries
(Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany and
Hungary) and in five Asian/Pacific countries (Malaysia, Singapore, India,
Thailand and Republic of Korea). Back in 2008 AURELIUS had bought the IT
systems integration operations of the Swiss telecommunications group
Sunrise, which today is named Connectis and one of the leading companies in
this sector in Switzerland.
With the operational support from AURELIUS, the acquired information
systems activity will operate as an independent company in the Spanish
market. Through its integration with the AURELIUS Group, Thales CIS will
benefit from additional synergies and new capabilities, thereby adding to
its value proposition for its existing customers and generating additional
business opportunities to ensure long term growth for a stronger position
in the Spanish market
The position of Thales CIS in the Spanish market combined with its
portfolio of strategic clients suggests a promising future through a new
business approach in the AURELIUS Group.
