PRESS RELEASE
HOMANN HOLZWERKSTOFFE GmbH Reports Significant Revenue Increase in First
Half of 2014
- The restructuring activities initiated in 2013 are showing results
- Expansion of factories in 2014 being pushed forward
- Completion of state of the art HDF/MDF plant in Krosno/Poland expected
by end of 2014
Munich/Herzberg am Harz, 29.08.14 - HOMANN HOLZWERKSTOFFE GmbH, a leading
European producer of thin, refined fibreboard panels for the furniture,
door, coating and automotive industry, has increased its revenue and more
than doubled its operative earnings (EBITDA) in the first half of 2014
compared to the same period in the previous year. The increase in both
revenue and earnings was driven by the consistent further development of
the two factories in Poland, which was started in 2013, and modernisation
and rationalisation measures at the site in Losheim, Germany. The
construction and expansion of the finishing facility in Krosno/Oder in
Poland is almost completed. In May 2014, construction of a new, state of
the art HDF/MDF panel plant in Krosno/Oder commenced, which is scheduled to
produce the first HDF panels as early as December of this year. In the
other Polish factory in Karlino, a second laminating facility was
commissioned during the first half of 2014 in order to increase the real
net output ratio. Furthermore, the new dry gluing system purchased in 2013
for the plant in Karlino, has considerably increased process efficiency. In
the third factory of the Homanit Group in Losheim, Saarland in Germany, the
labour-intensive finishing process were further reduced as planned. These
activities will be fully taken over by the Homanit factory in Krosno/Oder
by end 2014.
Group turnover increased year-on-year from EUR 95.1 million to EUR 105.0
million during the first half of 2014 (+10.4%). Earnings before interest,
taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were more than doubled
compared to the same period last year, rising from EUR 3.3 million to EUR 7
million. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) also developed
positively, with a significant rise from EUR - 1.2 million to EUR + 1.8
million.
The current political situation in Ukraine and Russia has no impact on the
business operations of Homann Holzwerkstoffe group of companies.
In the second quarter of 2014 the company increased its bond issue by a
further EUR 25.0 million to EUR 100.0 million. This means the change from
the Entry Standard segment to the Prime Standard segment for bonds on the
Deutsche Börse AG.
Fritz Homann, Managing Director of HOMANN HOLZWERKSTOFFE GmbH, commented:
"The cash inflow from the issue of bonds has been consistently used to
finance the continuing growth of the group. In doing so we focused on the
expansion of the two factories in Krosno/Oder and Karlino as well as the
rationalisation and modernisation of the site in Losheim, Germany."
