VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - Sep 22, 2014) - Like amusement parks and sweets, superheroes are a phenomenon that most people never really outgrow. That's good news for movie producers and even better news for people in need. That's because just like the superheroes they admire, fans often like coming to the rescue of those who need it most. This fall, would-be superheroes everywhere get the chance to do just that when the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel hosts its second-annual Superhero Ball in support of BC Children's Hospital.

The fun begins at 7 p.m. on October 24, 2014. Whether guests choose to fly, teleport or simply drive, they will arrive at the ball on the 19th floor of this destination, premier among Vancouver hotels on the waterfront.

The setting matches the theme in spectacular ways. Just as superheroes accomplish amazing feats, this revolving rooftop event space, known as Vistas, revolves 360 degrees in approximately an hour for unrivalled views of Vancouver's Coal Harbour. Of course, considering that guests are encouraged to dress in full superhero regalia, there will be plenty to look at inside Vistas as well as outside it.

Few, if any, downtown Vancouver restaurants can compete with the views at Vistas, and fewer still can match its calibre of food. Guests of the Superhero Ball will nosh on artfully crafted cocktails and canapés so savoury and innovative, they'll keep everyone swaying and swooping to the beats mixed by DJ Southpaw.

After costume contests for most original, best duo and best villain, guests can then be immortalized in the photo booth. But the best souvenir just might be something won at the silent auction. Not only are the goodies up for grabs tempting in their own right, they are just one more way superheroes -- even those who are suiting up for only one evening -- can help the children of BC Children's Hospital.

Last year's sold-out event raised $15,000 for the hospital, but the goal for this year is even more ambitious. Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel wants to outperform its previous accomplishment and raise at least $18,000.
