313  0 Kommentare Horace Mann's Faux Reality Series Strikes a Chord With Educators

SPRINGFIELD, IL--(Marketwired - October 24, 2014) - Teachers across the nation are liking, sharing and commenting on Horace Mann's faux reality series, "An Extreme Calling." Horace Mann (NYSE: HMN), a multiline insurance company providing insurance and financial services to the education community, released the series on Facebook, YouTube and its website, and teachers have been reacting to this humorous spin on challenges they face every day.

The latest episode in Horace Mann's video series, "Rubber Ducky Round-Up," features teacher trainees working to impose their will on an unruly group of rubber duckies and is featured on Horace Mann's Facebook page and horacemann.com.

"We did this series as a way to show teachers we get the challenges they face," says Dawn Klintworth, Vice President of Integrated Marketing. "Educators have really enjoyed the videos and are very engaged in our social communities. They're sharing the videos with friends and colleagues, and many are relaying their own humorous stories about daily challenges they encounter."

The first episode, "Two-minute Ingestion," featured teachers training for an extremely short -- if not sometimes non-existent -- lunch period. "Beat Back the Bladder," the second episode, showed teachers undergoing the bladder training needed to handle a day with minimal bathroom breaks. And in "Learning the Lingo," the trainees tried to crack the code of the sometimes confusing lingo of their students.

"We are champions of the potty dance," says one teacher on Horace Mann's Facebook page in reaction to the "Beat Back the Bladder" episode. Another teacher wrote, "Wish I had a spare bladder."

Horace Mann's Educator Advisory Panel's survey responses inspired the series when they shared the funniest things about being a teacher that only other teachers could understand. The survey also generated a comic series called, "Classroom Fun-da-mentals." Several of the comics have already been released, and you'll find them at horacemann.com in the "Recess Time for Teachers" section.
