London UK, 28 October 2014 - Dialog Semiconductor plc (FWB: DLG), a
provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC, solid-state lighting
and Bluetooth(R) Smart wireless technology, today announced that the new
Meizu MX4 smartphone uses Dialog's DA9210 power management IC (PMIC) to
deliver precision power to the phone's processor, MediaTek's MT6595. The
Meizu MX4 features a thin, lightweight design and a 5.3 inch, 1920 x 1152
LCD display. It achieves an 87% improvement in performance and 30% increase
in battery life, compared with the previous MX3 model.
The DA9210 PMIC is a multiphase DC-DC buck converter with a high level of
functional integration. It features dynamic voltage control so that its
output voltage responds instantaneously to changes in processor load. This
boosts the MX4's multi-tasking performance and energy efficiency. The high
performance MediaTek MT6595 octa-core 4G LTE System on Chip (SoC) has four
Cortex(R)-A17 cores and four energy efficient Cortex-A7 cores based on the
ARM(R) big.LITTLE architecture.
"The MX4 is our flagship model smartphone and is intended to provide the
best possible user performance. That's why we selected advanced components
such as the DA9210 from Dialog Semiconductor," said Damon Li, Technology
Director, Meizu Research & Development Center.
"Effective and efficient power management has a tangible effect on the user
experience of smartphones," said Udo Kratz, Senior Vice President and
General Manager, Business Group Mobile Systems. "The DA9210 perfectly
addresses the needs of the new generation of Chinese brand leaders such as
Meizu, that aims to outperform the market in terms of maximising mid-range
smartphone performance with the launch of the MX4."
