On December 13th and 14th, nearly 50,000 visitors will pass through the festival, where they'll find a Victorian-era experience waiting. Dancers and street musicians, including violinists, hand-bell choirs, harpists and carollers, take over Main Street, while the Public Square hosts a Town Sing, with candles and song sheets, on Sunday at 4:30pm (a $1 donation is requested). Visitors can interact with characters from Dickens' stories, including Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the Ghosts of Christmas Past and Future; Father and Mother Christmas; as well as Urchins, Fagin and English Bobbies from Oliver.

No holiday is complete without delicious food, and Dickens of a Christmas offers Victorian treats including authentic fish and chips, turkey legs, roasted nuts, kettle corn, roasted corn, roasted pork, sausages and sugar plums. Visitors can also get a jump on holiday shopping at the arts and crafts bazaar. To add a little romance to the experience, horse-drawn carriage rides ($2 per person) travel around the Public Square.

To ensure easy access to the event, this Cool Springs hotel in Franklin, TN offers a convenient location just 5 miles away, accessible by car or the Franklin Trolley Line, which stops right outside the hotel doors and is only $1 for a one-way ticket.

After a fun day at the festival, head back to this Nashville-area hotel for a relaxing evening, whether that includes a dip in the heated indoor pool, a glass of wine at The Bistro, room service and a movie or even heading out again to explore downtown dining and nightlife.

Dickens of a Christmas is free and open to the public 10am to 5pm Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday. The event is made possible thanks to more than 250 volunteers, who participate as characters, vendors or street performers.
