SKW Metallurgie Group sells Swedish calcium carbide plant

Unterneukirchen (Germany), November 19, 2014. The global specialty
chemicals Group SKW Metallurgie is consistently implementing its strategic
realignment (project "ReMaKe"), initiated by the new Executive Board under
the leadership of CEO Dr. Kay Michel. In particular, the strategy of
backward integration is no longer being fostered. In this context, the SKW
Metallurgie Group is divesting its Swedish plant for the production of
calcium carbide effective November 19, 2014; this was carried out by
selling 100% of the shares in SKW Metallurgy Sweden AB to the AlzChem
Group. Secrecy was agreed re the purchase price.

"With AlzChem as a buyer we have passed our Swedish affiliate into
competent hands. After this portfolio realignment, we will concentrate even
more strongly on our profitable core business as well as reinforce our
position in key markets ", says Dr. Kay Michel, CEO of SKW Metallurgie.

In the context of the transaction, SKW Metallurgy Sweden AB is going to be
renamed as Nordic Carbide AB.
