REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Dec. 17, 2014) - Viterra Inc. ("Viterra"), Canada's grain industry leader, is pleased to announce that it has established a new fund that will see students at regional colleges across Saskatchewan receive up to $300,000 in scholarships over three years.

Viterra will contribute $150,000 to the fund, and through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship Program, the province's regional colleges will be able to access up to $150,000 in matching funding.

"We're excited to launch this program, which will have a positive impact on post-secondary students through the 27 communities across Saskatchewan that make up the regional college network," said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra's President and CEO for North America. "This is an investment in the youth of our province, and one that is an ideal fit for our company given our strong presence across rural Saskatchewan. As we move forward, we will look to expand our commitment to education through other institutions across Western Canada."

"This generous investment by Viterra in Saskatchewan is much appreciated and it will have a significant impact on students who are pursuing a post-secondary education close to their home communities," Minister of Advanced Education Kevin Doherty said. "This scholarship program is focused on innovation and excellence, and is helping our long-term plan to support the province's growing economy."

The colleges that will receive scholarship funding include:

Carlton Trail College (Humboldt, Southey, Watrous, Wynyard)
Cumberland College (Hudson Bay, Melfort, Nipawin, Tisdale)
Great Plains College (Kindersley, Swift Current, Warman)
