Production start at new Grammer plant in the United States
- Production of seating systems for the offroad segment
- Preparations for the production of automotive center consoles
Tupelo, MS, United States / Amberg, Germany, January 22, 2015 - Production
has started successfully at Grammer AG's new plant in Tupelo, Mississippi,
at the end of 2014. Only twelve months after the official ground-breaking
ceremony, suspended seats are now being manufactured at the new Grammer US
headquarters for the Northern American commercial vehicle market. In
parallel with the completion of construction, all production lines at the
existing plant in Hudson, Wisconsin, have been relocated at the new plant
in the southern United States. The Hudson facility will continue to operate
as a sales and engineering center to provide optimum service for commercial
vehicle customers in this region.
Following the certification of the new facility by the main customers and
the successful start-up of seat production, preparations are now also
progressing ahead of the start of automotive production. 2016 will see the
production of the first Grammer center consoles at the Tupelo site for the
local automotive market.
With this new facility, the Grammer Group has further expanded its local
presence in the important Northern American market. Together with the
Group's two large production sites in Mexico and the sales and engineering
centers in Troy, Michigan, and in Hudson, Wisconsin, Grammer's two
divisions - Seating Systems and Automotive - are now excellent positioned
in the NAFTA region and will be able to continue on their successful growth
trajectory in the Northern American market.
"The Northern American automotive and commercial vehicle market forms a key
element of the Grammer Group's growth strategy. Over the last few years, we
have been able to grow at double-digit rates in the NAFTA region and,
moving forward, we want to continue this positive trend," says Hartmut
Müller, Chief Executive Officer of Grammer AG.
