---------------------------------------------------------------------
- TOM TAILOR GROUP posts like-for-like increase in sales of 1.9% during
the second quarter
- Umbrella brand TOM TAILOR grows like-for-like sales by 1.4% in the
second quarter
- Umbrella brand BONITA posts like-for-like sales growth of 2.3% in the
second quarter
Hamburg, 22 July 2015. In the second quarter of 2015, the TOM TAILOR GROUP
achieved a like-for-like sales increase of 1.9% with its two umbrella
brands TOM TAILOR and BONITA. In the first half-year of 2015, the Group
increased its like-for-like sales by 2.2%. Thus, the TOM TAILOR GROUP once
again successfully outperformed the German apparel industry, which finished
the first half of the year with a decline of 2.0% (source: TW-Testclub
28/2015).
In the second quarter, the umbrella brand TOM TAILOR significantly improved
its like-for-like sales compared to the weak first quarter (-3.9%) and
recorded an increase of 1.4%. The strong dynamic in June made a particular
contribution to this performance. Nevertheless, like-for-like sales during
the first six months were still 0.8% below the previous year.
BONITA also grew in the second quarter and increased its like-for-like
sales by 2.3%. After the negative sales figures of the previous year,
BONITA once again posted a positive sales growth for the first half of
2015: on a like-for-like basis, sales went up by 4.5%.
"In a challenging market environment, the TOM TAILOR GROUP again held its
ground in the retail business and bucked the market trend by growing
like-for-like sales. Thereby, TOM TAILOR returned to its growth trajectory
and BONITA generated a positive like-for-like sales increase for the second
quarter in succession," commented Dieter Holzer, Chief Executive Officer of
TOM TAILOR Holding AG. "We will continue to drive forward our
verticalization and the implementation of our new organizational structure
with the aim of continuing to increase sales per unit area."
Overall, the TOM TAILOR GROUP is satisfied with the first half-year 2015,
particularly as compared to the strong earnings development in the
prior-year period.
