    CHARLESTON. SC--(Marketwired - Sep 2, 2015) - Hawthorne Global Aviation Services ("Hawthorne"), a leading general aviation services company, today announced that commercial aviation veteran Randall Greene had joined the company's board of directors.

    Hawthorne is a premier provider of general aviation services including first class FBO services, tailored charter solutions, turnkey aircraft management and FAA approved aircraft maintenance. Hawthorne operates four premiere FBOs located at MacArthur Airport in Islip, NY (KISP); Cobb County Airport in Atlanta, GA (KRYY); Chicago Executive Airport in Chicago, IL (KPWK); and Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire, WI (KEAU). 

    Mr. Greene is chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Safe Flight Instrument Corporation. Safe Flight Instrument Corporation manufactures aviation safety and flight performance systems which are used in aircraft in the general aviation, corporate, commercial, and military sectors.

    About Randall Greene

    Greene, 69, is the son of Leonard M. Greene who founded Safe Flight Instrument Corporation in White Plains, New York in 1946. He succeeded his father as CEO in 2001. Before assuming his current position, Greene was president of Aeronautical Systems Corporation in Boulder, Colorado a flight test and market consulting company. In 1988 Greene founded Commander Aircraft Company in Oklahoma City upon his acquisition of the former Rockwell Commander single-engine 112/114 series of aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace. He led a successful public offering of the company in 1991 (NASDAQ: CMDR). Prior to Commander, Greene held positions with Bendix - General Aviation Avionics Division and AlliedSignal Aerospace (both now Honeywell companies).

    Greene holds nine US patents and has published technical papers in numerous publications including the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Institute of Aeronautics. FAA Airline Transport-rated for both airplanes and helicopters, Greene is an Associate Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and an FAA-designated test pilot for FAR Part 23, 25, 27 and 29 aircraft. He serves as the chairman of the board of the Corporate Angel Network and is a member of the nominating committee of the board of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum where he is an emeritus director. He is a board member of the National Aeronautic Association, the Wings Club of New York and the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church.
