This solution allows operators building Next Generation IP Centric networks to utilize WipLL for voice and data services. -- First commercial shipments of the AS3010 Point-to-Point Solution which is based on the WipLL technology. This solution provides a robust 3.2 Mbit/s link over 19 miles at a starting price of less than $2000, a considerable price advantage over competing products. In addition, Airspan announces two key product enhancements for availability in the second half of 2003: -- WipLL 700 MHz -a variant of the product operating in the newly licensed 700 MHz band in the US. Approximately 115 companies bid $145M for this spectrum for 740 specific licenses. -- WipLL 900 MHz - a variant of the product targeting rural operators using the unlicensed 900 MHz frequencies available in the US, Brazil, and other markets. "The cap ex focus of operators and ISP`s is now firmly focused on broadband data growth and voice revenue streams and WipLL addresses these needs head on. These improvements allow us to tap a number of new growing markets with our products," said Paul Senior, Airspan`s Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. "These features enable new applications for existing customers and also enable additional market segments previously not accessible to us due to frequency limitations. When 802.16a WiMax compatible variants of these products are available next year, this reach will be extended even further." |
