Grupo Sinos Is The Largest Media and Communications Provider In the State of Rio Grande Do Sul in Brazil and the First to Deploy

3.5Ghz Wireless Services in Brazil

Airspan Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:AIRN), a leading worldwide provider of fixed wireless DSL networks, today announced that Grupo Sinos of Brazil has selected Airspan`s WipLL platform to provide always-on, high-speed Internet access and voice over IP services for a significant deployment in the region of Rio Grande do Sul.

Grupo Sinos, a private media and communications company with diversified operations such as daily newspapers, trade magazines, radio stations and Internet services, was recently awarded one of Brazil`s first 3.5GHz licenses to deploy a fixed wireless network in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. Rio Grande is one of Brazil`s most important and affluent states. In recent years, Grupo Sinos has combined its traditional print media offerings with Internet access services to create a highly attractive overall content package for its subscribers. Grupo Sinos chose Airspan`s WipLL to provide last-mile Internet and voice services in the licensed 3.5Ghz band to its existing subscribers and to new subscribers who soon will be covered by the WipLL network.

Grupo Sinos is the first service provider in Brazil to deploy a 3.5Ghz wireless network following Anatel`s recent award of licenses in this band. Airspan equipment was selected after competitive tests with several major suppliers. Airspan`s products are also being tested and faring well with other license holders in Brazil.

"Our focus on providing the most efficient technological solution to the customer with the highest dedication to customer support possible was key in winning this award," said Amit Ancikovsky, Airspan`s Vice President of Sales for Brazil. "Our customers wanted the ability to combine high-end data connectivity with quality voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services at a reasonable price, and WipLL met the requirements perfectly."

Jeremias Rohde, General Manager Sinosnet said: "We were extremely pleased by the WipLL`s technical performance in our field evaluation. And that performance together with a superior cost-benefit ratio led us to adopt the WipLL platform as our long-term fixed wireless solution."

Brazil is the largest telephony market in Latin America and one of the last countries in the region to begin offering fixed wireless licenses.
