Company Press Release
First Ecom.com Strengthens Senior Management Team
HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2000--First Ecom.com (Nasdaq:FECC - news; BSX:FECC, FECC BH), a global provider of electronic payment processing systems, today announced new appointments to management and the board of directors.

Gregory Pek is appointed to Chairman of the company`s Board, relinquishing his role as president and CEO. In his new role Pek will continue to play an active part in contributing to the overall vision of the company and act as the company`s principal spokesperson.

Following Pek`s new appointment, Harold Hutton assumes the role of president and chief executive officer. Hutton joined First Ecom in January 2000 as president of international strategy and corporate development. While in this capacity, Hutton was responsible for overseeing completion of the company`s recent US$45 million private placement financing, and has been actively involved in the development and implementation of the company`s global initiatives. Hutton also is being appointed to the company`s board.

James Pratt is appointed to the board of directors as an independent director. Pratt is the managing director of Asia Wireless, a division of Telstra On Air, Telstra Corporation of Australia. He oversees all of Telstra Group`s wireless operations and is responsible for their various investments throughout the Asia Pacific Region. Telstra is Australia`s leading full-service telecommunications and information services organization, with reported earnings attributable to shareholders of some AUS$3.4 billion for its fiscal year ended June 30, 1999. Pratt also was formerly chief executive officer of Peoples Phone in Hong Kong.

The company also announces the appointment of Ken Telford as chief financial officer, following the resignation of John Brewer as chief financial officer and company secretary. Telford is both a chartered accountant (Canada) and certified public accountant (USA). He was formerly a partner of Sadovnick, Telford + Skov, Chartered Accountants in Canada and Telford Sadovnick, PLLC, Certified Public Accountants in the United States. Telford was also an audit partner in the international accounting firm Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte & Touche). Telford has advised numerous companies, operating in both North America and Asia Pacific, on a broad range of financial and business matters including the financial management requirements of U.S. publicly listed companies.

``One of the key challenges for companies growing as rapidly as ours is to attract talented management on a timely basis,`` said Pek. ``I think one of our skills is identifying the need for change in advance, and being adequately prepared. The skill sets we need now are different from what they were when we first started the company. With these new appointments, we are starting to build a senior executive management team that is capable of aggressively meeting the challenges ahead and positioning First Ecom as the leader in our industry.``

Pek added, ``In addition to bringing multinational experience, Harold brings with him a management style and presence which will have a significant, positive impact on our future development. Ken Telford brings the requisite financial and management expertise we now need as a Nasdaq listed company. Jim Pratt brings to the board knowledge, experience and relationships from the telecommunications industry, in particular wireless systems, which are expected to have a dramatic impact on the Internet and the manner in which Internet transactions are processed regionally and globally.``
