UK`s NXT says to raise 28 mln stg (Adds name of broker to placement in para 6) LONDON, July 4 (Reuters) - British audio equipment firm NXT Plc (LSE: NTX.L - news) said it planned to raise a net 28 million pounds ($42.33 million) on Tuesday via a share placement to help fund the company`s drive to further develop proprietary technologies. It said it would place three million new shares with institutions at 940 pence per share, representing a 4.5 percent increase in its issued share capital. The company`s stock closed on Monday at 1,040 pence. NXT said the proceeds would be used, among other things, to fund accelerated development of speech synthesis and recognition from laboratory to market readiness. The funds are also earmarked for marketing and patent protection as well as development and expansion of the company`s automotive, telecommunications and TV-related project engineering teams. Broker for the share placement was Peel Hunt (LSE: PEH.L - news) . NXT, which has agreements to supply speakers for LG television sets and Acer laptop computers, also gave an update on its trading, saying it expected licensing income this year to be 300 percent up on a year earlier. It said expenditure on technologies was running about five percent higher than average market forecasts. NXT added that it would need to provide 500,000 pounds for the company`s accrued National Insurance liability for gains on stock options issued after April 1999. |
