Let me say that I completely support TA in Europe, but I no longer believe their lies about USA.

@APL:

Why does the union with GDT make no sense? Here is the way I see it. TA has lied to us and said that the USA market is slow to develop. However, from the release of NAVTECH earnings we see that this is not true.

TA has told us since the beginning that GDT is of no real concern and is not a major player in the market. Now, we come to find out that not only does GDT have the lion’s share of the majority of the GIS industry, even over NAVTECH, but that GDT has been chosen over TA to replace NAVTECH on several major car models at Lexus and Toyota. This must mean that GDT has a better map than TA or wouldn’t TA have been chosen. Perhaps TA was right that auto companies want a second supplier, but perhaps it is GDT in the USA and not TA.

I did not say that people should sell TA stock. I was asking what others think of this idea as it could be a good or bad idea. Could it mean dilution of shares? Yes. Is that bad? depends on value of company.

Also, TA announcements are worth nothing. They do not tell the whole story. Here is truth:
Microsoft: only uses TA traffic data, uses NAVTECH for all maps
Pioneer: aftermarket only, low volume
Autodesk: primarily sells GDT but also sells NAVTECH, so now all three are options
MapQuest: TA data only used on one low volume B2B customer
TomTom: USA application got great reviews, but maps got horrible reviews; TA had to pay for printing of updates and give away free customers
Telcontar: no volume at all in USA only name
and…and…and…
