Growth occurred in all geographic regions in 2003, as North American revenues increased 77.0% from $35.2 million during the nine months ended September 29, 2002 to $62.3 million during the nine months ended September 28, 2003, and European revenues increased 62.8% from $79.0 million during the nine months ended September 29, 2002 to $128.6 million during the nine months ended September 28, 2003. North American and European revenue were positively affected by an increase in unit sales to vehicle navigation system vendors and OEMs during the nine months ended September 28, 2003 as compared to the nine months ended September 29, 2002 Operating Income, Net Income (Loss) and Net Earnings (Loss) Per Share of Common Stock. Our operating income improved from $6.3 million during the nine months ended September 29, 2002 to $51.8 million during the nine months ended September 28, 2003, due primarily to the operating leverage generated by our revenue growth and continued cost control efforts in 2003. Our net income of $4.8 million during the nine months ended September 29, 2002 improved to net income of $56.9 million during the nine months ended September 28, 2003, as a result of the improved operating results and the foreign currency transaction gain in the period.
