The growth in US cell phones may be startling, but it pales compared with the growth in Turkey. Last year, cell-phone usage grew by over 100%. Despite that increase, the market is still underserved -- only about one in ten Turks has a cell phone. The main beneficiary has been a company called Turkcell (NYSE:TKC - news). Turkcell controls 70% of the market and continues to sign up seven out of 10 subscribers. Despite spending roughly a billion a year in the past two years on upgrading its network, the company is wildly profitable.
