What is interesting is that our inside sources claim that Intel will avoid that the Pentium IV and the Pentium III will be compared on a clock for clock basis. It has also been reported that the Pentium IV will need optimized software (More ISSE optimisations or compiled with "Pentium IV aware" compilers) to beat the PIII clock for clock, especially in FPU intensive and certain high end DBMS applications.
IMHO, this indicates that the Pentium IV will be launched at high speeds (1.5 GHz, maybe even more) to make sure that official benchmarks do not compare the Pentium IV and the PIII clock for clock.
BTW, AMD`s answer to the 1.13 GHz is ready and available at good quantities. The CPU is waiting in our labs to be reviewed
