On Track Innovations surges on government award (OTIV) By Nancy Cesarano
NEW YORK (CBS.MW} -- Shares of On Track Innovations Ltd. (OTIV) surged more than 7 percent to $12.10 after the Fort Lee, N.J.-based smart card software provider`s subsidiary, OTI America Inc. received an award that designates it to provide electronic passports for the U.S. government.
The company expects one or several companies will ultimately be selected to produce the passports. "We believe that, on the basis of the work that we will perform under the contract, the technology that we have developed for use in the growing world-wide market for personal identification and other homeland security applications we will be selected for use in the production stage of the U.S. passports," said Ohad Bashan, the company`s president and CEO.
