Aktuelle News: ASX Companies Announcements Wednesday 19th January 2005 Asmara Project in Eritrea Returns Excellent Results from Assay Back-Log Following the lifting by the Government of Eritrea of the suspension of exploration activities in Eritrea, Sub-Sahara is pleased to announce a number of selected significant drill results not previously announced. All these assays come from drilling completed prior to the September 2 nd 2004 suspension order by the Eritrean Government and are from the Debarwa copper/gold deposit and the first significant results from the Gupo Gold deposit situated 8km north of Asmara city. Debarwa Gold Highlights: DEBD-029 intersected 17.16 metres @ 8.53 g/t gold DEBD-035 intersected 11.00 metres @ 7.70 g/t gold DEBR-059 intersected 14.00 metres @ 6.21 g/t gold DEBR-085 intersected 9.00 metres @ 4.16 g/t gold DEBR-D-053 intersected 6.96 metres @ 13.48 g/t gold Debarwa Base Metal & Gold Highlights: DEBD-031 intersected 13.80 metres @ 2.74 g/t gold & 8.90% copper DEBD-032 intersected 5.02 metres @ 2.02 g/t gold & 12.15% copper DEBD-034 intersected 9.67 metres @ 1.13 g/t gold, 3.65% copper & 9.16% zinc DEBD-036 intersected 5.25 metres @ 1.50 g/t gold, 2.78% copper & 12.24% zinc DEBD-038 intersected 10.37 metres @ 1.29 g/t gold, 3.25% copper & 7.21% zinc DEBR-054 intersected 13.00 metres @ 4.23 g/t gold & 9.92% copper DEBR-068 intersected 6.00 metres @ 2.08 g/t gold, 1.83% copper & 9.20% zinc DEBR-069 intersected 9.00 metres @ 1.82 g/t gold, 1.52% copper & 5.12% zinc DEBR-D-057 intersected 13.25 metres @ 2.71 g/t gold & 4.73% copper DEBR-D-065 intersected 15.12 metres @ 2.00 g/t gold, 4.42% copper & 8.23% zinc DEBR-D-075 intersected 7.38 metres @ 1.39 g/t gold, 1.80% copper & 4.35% zinc DEBR-D-092 intersected 5.00 metres @ 1.07 g/t gold, 1.03% copper & 10.51% zinc DEBR-D-096 intersected 10.00 metres @ 1.69% copper & 9.37% zinc Gupo Gold Highlights: GG-001-RD intersected 38.5 metres @ 2.12g/t gold GG-002-R intersected 26 metres @ 1.03g/t gold Debarwa Copper Gold deposit The back log of assay results (Table 1) covers selected significant assays received from 73 drill holes completed at both the Debarwa Main and Debarwa South prospects in late August 2004 and the results contained in this release, complete the reporting of significant mineralized intercepts for these holes. These results come from all levels of the deposit, from the near surface gossan zone (depleted in copper but enriched in gold) to the underlying supergene zone (high-grade copper) to the supergene/primary transition zone (high-grade zinc) and finally to the primary zone (copper, gold and zinc). This latest set of results for the Debarwa Main and South zones further confirms the continuity of strong mineralisation at all levels in the deposit. Management believes the results will contribute significantly to the geological understanding of the deposits. Gupo Gold Results As previously reported, total of 6 drill holes were completed at the Gupo (formerly Adi Nefas Doop) gold deposit situated 8km north of Asmara city. To date, results are only available for four of these holes and 3 of these holes returned significant gold values (Table 2). The Gupo gold deposit area contains of a series of shallow open-pits extending for over 2km of strike and was exploited by Italian miners during Eritrea’s colonial period. Gold mineralisation occurs within a series of structurally controlled metamorphic schists and has undergone extensive exploration by previous explorers. Adi Nefas Gossan The results from 6 holes completed at the Adi Nefas Gossan (zinc/copper/gold) prospect prior to the suspension order will now be processed and assayed. These samples have been unavailable to the joint venture during the stoppage. The Adi Nefas Gossan is a VMS deposit similar in style to the Debarwa copper/gold deposit and it has had historical significant zinc, copper, gold and silver credits reported from limited drilling by previous operators. Details of the intended exploration plan for the current quarter will be formulated by the joint venture partners over the coming weeks and will be published in a separate Company update.
