CONTINENTAL EDISON
Eldon Technology was commissioned by French brown goods company Continental Edison to design a large screen analogue television with the goal of making it the most competitive product in the market place. It is a high end, yet cost effective, Dolby Pro Logic pan-European television receiver designed to drive 25" or 28" colour picture tubes. The specification includes three AV connections, frequency synthesis or voltage synthesis tuning, NICAM or Zweiton stereo audio decoding, up to 35W total audio output power, Colour Transient Improvement (CTI) and 10 page TOP and FLOF teletext. The chassis concept is a single main board incorporating a snap out tube base PCB. Manufactured at Continental Edison`s 4000,000 sq ft factory, the biggest TV plant in Europe with an output capacity of some 7,000 colour sets per day, the new television is ready to make its mark in the market, and who knows? it may also be named as one of Which? magazines`s star performers, as were several of its Eldon designed predecessors.
