SIEBEL SYSTEMS: StepStone standardizes on Siebel eBusiness applications;
Leading European online recruiter establishes capacity for multichannel eBusiness

SEP 5, 2000, M2 Communications - SAN MATEO, CA -- Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:
SEBL), the world`s leading supplier of eBusiness application software, today
announced that StepStone, Europe`s leading career and recruitment portal, will
standardize on Siebel eBusiness Applications. By creating a single,
comprehensive multichannel customer information management system, Siebel
Systems will enable StepStone sales, service and marketing professionals to work
seamlessly with one another and with customers, across numerous European
locations and multiple channels - whether phone, email, Web, fax or in-person
meeting - for greater customer satisfaction.

StepStone is Europe`s leading career and recruitment portal, with one of the
largest employment databases on the Internet. More than 11,000 employers such as
Nestle, Nokia Mobile Phones A/S, and Ericsson depend on StepStone`s assistance
to attract talented personnel in ten European markets, and the StepStone Web
site attracts more than three million user sessions monthly. Forrester Research
predicts that within five years, one-stop career management sites will account
for 55 percent of the $7.1 billion online recruiting market.

Employers typically have provided information about job opportunities to
StepStone sales representatives in local offices by mail, email, or fax; in
addition, customers with annual contracts may choose to integrate their Web site
with StepStone`s systems so that job applications are directed to the online
recruiting company to manage the hiring process.

Stepstone recognized the requirement to implement a central repository for
customer information from these multiple channels, to ensure they continue to
meet customer requirements and respond accurately to inquiries across multiple
geographic locations, languages and currencies. Stepstone representatives are
currently reliant on manual record keeping, frequent phone calls and emails with
their teams.

By deploying Siebel eSales to more than 1,000 professionals throughout Europe,
StepStone will be able to create a single, comprehensive, multichannel customer
information management system to capture and update customer and candidate
interaction, from Web, phone, fax and email requests, and in-person meetings. As
a result, teams will be able to stay abreast of customers` requirements and work
seamlessly to fulfill them without delays due to multiple geographic locations,
time zones, and languages. Service representatives will be able to respond
knowledgeably to queries based on comprehensive customer information, while
marketing professionals will gain customer insight for targeted promotional
campaigns, and sales representatives will be able to identify new opportunities
to assist existing clients. Finally, by integrating Siebel Systems` solution
with financial and human resources applications, StepStone will be able to use
up-to-date customer data from multiple channels to ensure vital back office
functions are completed accurately.

"StepStone understands that successful multinational online recruitment depends
on relationships and responsiveness, and we cannot afford to exclude or favor a
particular means of communication with our clients. We found Siebel Systems to
be the only eBusiness application provider with proven multichannel solutions,
backed by an international reputation for 100 percent customer satisfaction -
and that made our choice clear," said Simon McKinnon, Chief Technical Officer at
StepStone.

"Siebel eSales is proving easy to configure and deploy to StepStone`s European
field sales force, as well as to integrate into our back office operations. We
expect our teams will be able to focus on sales and customer service, work
together more efficiently and spend far less time on administration to fill
customers` open positions and ultimately, increase both customers` and
candidates` satisfaction," said McKinnon.
