Ecostar Electric Drive Systems (Ecostar), a venture between Ford, Ballard Power Systems, and DaimlerChrysler is focused on developing advanced electric drive systems for fuel cell, hybrid electric and battery-powered vehicles. Ecostar’s product mix includes traction and non-traction electric drive systems for a wide range of vehicle applications.
Ecostar’s technology is also used in non automotive applications such as stationary power. Ecostar is a world leader in stationary power control technology (presently used in Honeywell’s Parallon 75 power generation systems).
Ecostar’s goal is to be the world’s pre-eminent full service electric drive source. Ecostar is 62 per cent held by Ford Motor Company with Ballard Power Systems and DaimlerChrysler holding 21 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively.
XCELLSIS Fuel Cell Engines (XCELLSIS), a venture between DaimlerChrysler, Ballard Power Systems, and Ford, is focused on developing, manufacturing, and commercializing fuel cell engines for buses, cars, and trucks. XCELLSIS is 51% owned by DaimlerChrysler with Ballard Power Systems and Ford owning 27% and 22% respectively.
At the heart of each XCELLSIS engine is the Ballard® fuel cell. The combination of XCELLSIS` expertise in fuel cell engines and Ballard Power Systems` state of the art fuel cells result in complete product solutions for transportation original equipment manufacturers.
