Ghent, 13 September 2000 CPI FIRST AMERICAN PERSONALISATION CENTRE FOR PROTON-BASED CARDS Ghent, 13 September 2000 - Today, at the Proton World Forum, the major annual event for Proton users and partners, Proton World, announced that CPI Card Group had been certified as the first American-based card personalisation centre for Proton-based cards. CPI Card Group is one of the leading manufacturers of magnetic-stripe cards in North America. Last year, it shipped 450 million magnetic-stripe cards to a wide variety of customers from its production centre in Los Angeles. CPI also shipped 85 million cards from its secure card production facility at Denver, which is where the Proton-based cards will be personalised. CPI is a partner of Bull, a long-established manufacturer of Proton-based cards. CPI will also be opening a card production and personalisation centre in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the near future. Proton World sees North and South America as key markets to continue its world-wide expansion. This agreement opens up a source of card personalisation services to Proton licensees in both continents, and will greatly facilitate the expansion of their schemes. Yves Moulart, Chief Technology Officer of Proton World, said, “Our ambitious expansion plans for the Proton technology means that we need to expand the network of certified personalisation centres available to our customers, while maintaining the highest standards of security, so that we can continue to offer the greatest possible choice for Proton licensees.” Antonio Accornero, President of CPI, said, “We are delighted to join the international network of Proton personalisation centres and look forward to developing close links with Proton licensees in North and South America.
