EBay On ABC: Is that Your Final Bid?

EBay is busy taking bids for a TV series that could allow viewers to purchase items via their television sets.
Inside.com reports that eBay is negotiating with major networks and other prospective buyers for a show that would presumably let users list and buy the same types of products offered on the San Jose, Calif.-based company`s site, including antiques, jewelry and collectibles.

``It would most likely involve trading with an auction-style format,`` eBay spokesman Chris Donlay said of the proposed TV venture. The company declined to elaborate, but a source close to the negotiations said that eBay is close to making a deal with ABC for a show that would run five days a week. The two companies already have ties: last February, eBay and ABC parent, Walt Disney, forged a strategic partnership that enabled eBay to auction Disney memorabilia online. If ABC opted not to run the show during primetime, it could set it up as a syndicated strip on its 10 owned-and-operated stations, and also offer it to affiliates.
