Aus dailynews.lk von morgen: UN aid to develop Eastern coastal belt COLOMBO: Aid amounting to Rs.100 million has been received under United Nations Aid Programme to develop the coastal belt covering the areas of Pasikuda and Kalkuda in the Eastern Coast, according to Dr. R.A.D. Samaranayake, the Director Coast Conservation Department. He said this aid will be utilised under the special zones Programme to develop the coastal belt covering Pasikuda and Kalkuda areas by way of promoting fishing facilities for the benefit of fishermen and for the purpose of developing the area as a tourist attraction. The Coast Conservation Department is expecting to take off the Project by June this year with the cooperation of a committee consisting of representatives from governmental and non governmental organisations and hoping to complete the project approximately within two years. |
