SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2000--3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS) today announced that it has joined the Intel Dialogic CT Media(TM) Value Network to establish the interoperability of its market-leading NBX(R) Communications System product line with the value-add applications and services from other Value Network members. By supporting the tight integration of telephony and business applications from multiple vendors, 3Com intends to drive the development and adoption of converged voice and data communications solutions. As such, 3Com will radically simplify how resellers and end-user customers purchase and implement their business communications solutions. In addition, the Value Network membership will allow 3Com to bring the benefits of LAN telephony solutions to more customers, resellers and application developers worldwide.

As a Value Network member, 3Com will have interaction with over 100 CT Media-based software application vendors that support industry-standard, open communications infrastructures and applications. 3Com will work with those vendors to ensure the interoperability of its LAN telephony products with third party business applications. As a result, 3Com customers are expected to be able to integrate software applications, such as unified messaging, Web-based contact centers and voice interaction with their NBX LAN telephony systems. The result is fully scalable and integrated business communications solutions that will help enhance productivity and reduce overall cost of ownership.

"3Com supports industry standards and application interoperability on a worldwide scale," said Ed Wadbrook, director of strategy and new market development, 3Com. "By joining the Value Network, 3Com will be able to establish interoperability with other application vendors and potentially open up new global markets for its award-winning NBX product line. Collaboration within the industry for application interoperability will advance converged voice and data communications to increase the competitiveness of offers currently witnessed today, accelerate the time to market for those offers and provide vendors access to applications on a global basis."

The CT Media Value Network is a collaborative community of companies that provide application software, technology resources, platforms, peripherals, services and channel delivery for CT servers based on Dialogic CT Media server software. The Value Network will offer choices of products and services for open, scalable solutions that can be managed as one part of a converged communications network.
