Good news for Trinity Biotech, which earlier this month bought one third of Irish genomics company HiberGen for $1.3m. Formed in 1999 by Maurice Treacy and Pat Vaughan, HiberGen is the only Irish company operating in this field and adds a new dimension to Trinity`s operation. Trinity shares are up more than 100% since January, vying with Elan and Horizon as the year`s best performers. The company is capitalised at just $111m, which makes it a tiddler in valuation terms, but with the right mix of products it could present an interesting acquisition for one of the bigger players.
