Guten Morgen AMD`ler AMD Palomino In Early 2001? [8:14 pm] Rat There appeared some new info on the upcoming AMD Palomino CPU at ZDNet News. According to them, the Palomino core, which is expected to replace the today’s Thunderbird will have some new architectural changes made. The changes will touch upon the branch prediction unit in the first place, which will allow AMD to increase the working frequencies of its Athlon CPUs up to 2GHz. Besides, Palomino will also have a larger L2 cache. This CPU will be manufactured with 0.18micron technology on a Dresden fab. All the improvements described above are none other but AMD’s response to Intel Pentium 4.
